Boxing Day Fixture Doubts Mount

Fantasy managers were given a heads-up over potential changes to the Gameweek 19 fixture list after a proposed London Underground strike was today confirmed by the Aslef union. The industrial action by tube station workers has yet to be ratified by the authorities but with three games scheduled to take place in London on Boxing Day, this has major repercussions if given the go-ahead:

While QPR have this afternoon confirmed their home clash with West Brom will take place as planned, Arsenal’s Emirates encounter with West Ham and Fulham’s encounter with Southampton at the Cottage could face disruption – a scenario which will leave Fantasy managers struggling to cope and perhaps staring points hits in the face.

At the same point last season, Arsenal called off their match with Wolves but due to the fact that their next game was not until December 31, they simply put the game back 24-hours – this time round, they don’t have that option. With their Gameweek 20 fixture at home to Newcastle scheduled for December 29, it seems that Arsene Wenger’s side will be left with no option but to postpone the Hammers clash for a later date in 2013, should the strike go ahead. Martin Jol’s men could be in the same situation. Fulham’s following fixture at home to Swansea also takes place on December 29 so they, too, could be left without a fixture. However, a report in the Daily Mail today suggested that, at this moment in time, Fulham’s Boxing Day fixture is to go ahead.

We’ve spoken to Arsenal earlier and they have confirmed they are currently in meetings with police to assess the situation – an announcement from the club is expected within the next 24-hours.

As we await news as to whether the FA will charge Marouane Fellaini following his headbutt on Ryan Shawcross, it seems there could be plenty of transfer activity just around the corner as 15-man squads are restructured to cope with the upcoming ramifications. While the possible postponements could potentially lead to the rescheduling of fixtures in January and hand us a chance to utilise our winter wildcards more efficiently, the knock-on effect on the short-term makes the strength of our benches more essential than ever, with many teams struggling to field a starting XI if the rail strike comes to fruition.

I'm thinking of holding onto Fellaini during the ban. I bought him at 7m. I could play Sterling or Maybe another defender. Anyone else holding onto Fellaini during the ban?

Best replacement for Fellaini upto 8.4? Current midfield of Cazorla Dempsey Michu Sterling. A bit leftover will allow me to get Mata or Bale for Dempsey too.

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £0.5m in the bank.

    Begovic, Ruddy

    Nelsen, Enrique, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Sessegnon, Michu, Bale, Fellaini, Sterling

    RVP, Aguero, Suarez

Thinking of doing a -4 bringing in Mata and Clark/Clyne for Fellaini and Enrique?

Or I could keep Enrique and sell Sessegnon for Taarabt??!!

    Thoughts please?
    Thank you

When can we expect the Fellaini replacement article? I'm leaning towards Ashley Young over Yaya, why hasnt Young been mentioned at all as a replacement by anyone?

He is red flagged. Everton are not appealing the ban. Don't know if the two are connected, but that's what's happened.

What transfer(s) would you make if you had this team?

    Begovic,
    Ridgewell (50%), Mertesacker, Demel
    Mata, Nolan, Sterling, Michu
    RVP, Suarez, Defoe

    Ruddy (injured), Cuellar, Cameron, Fellani.

I can currently sell Fellani for £7.6m. Therefore, it would require a hit somewhere to fund Silva.

I have 0.8m in the bank and 1 FT.

    Thank you very much.

I am thinking about it. I bought him at 7m. I don't want to lose the 1m value difference. I may play Sterling or a third defender during the 3 match ban. Fellaini is a must have this season for me, especially with his low price relative to other higher priced midfielders.

I raised this possibility last night but was rightly reminded that selling now saves our TV and also we have the January WC from his return so can just get him back using that, so maybe pointless keeping.

Plus Christmas fixture schedule, need for full bench, etc.

I've got Mata, Michu, Cazorla, Sterling, RVP & Suarez. Can't afford to get Silva without a hit. So.......

    A) Fellaini>Yaya/Lennon?
    B) Fellaini>Puncheon/Tarrabt?
    C) Fellaini>Puncheon & Le Fondre>Ba?
    D) Fellaini>Puncheon & Clyne>Baines/Ivanovich/Rafael?

Got him at 4.5m and he plays attacking three every single week. Would else are you going to get in for the same money with that potential. He is a keeper in my book.
