Arsenal’s class proved too much for Leeds’ bluster in pulsating FA Cup replay at Elland Road. Samir Nasri’s weaved his magic to create the foundations, before Robin Van Persie ultimately ended the hopes of the Championship challengers in front of their noisy faithful…

Arsene Wenger predictably shuffled his teamsheet once again. In came Nicklas Bendtner, Chamakh, Kieran Gibbs, Denilson, Arshavin and Bacary Sagna – the latter returning from a three-match suspension. That meant that the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Eboue all dropped out.

Samir Nasri was handed the skipper’s armband on the night with Cesc Fabregas starting life on the bench. The Frenchman responded with a display typical of a season which has seen him emerge as Player of the Year candidate. Nasri’s smart finish for Arsenal’s opener was the icing on a cake crafted from seemingly endless prompting and passing. Nasri glided through a crowded Elland Road midfield to dominate matters. He remains a key component of our Fantasy squads, despite the return of Fabregas and Robin Van Persie onto the Arsenal scene.

That pairing played their part in the victory – both emerged from the bench to combine to kill the tie off. It was Fabregas’ pass that set Nicklas Bendtner scurrying down the right flank to find Van Persie with a delicious cross which he duly converted with a header for the third goal; a reminder of the Dutchman’s often forgotten qualities as a centre-forward. Van Persie he offers so much more than far post headers but, in this instance, his ruthless contribution was telling and the goal will only raise his profile further as FPL Managers contemplate their wildcard squads.

Bacary Sagna had earlier blasted Arsenal into a two goal lead – an advantage that looked unassailable given their dominance. Bradley Johnson’s incredible 30-yard effort changed the complexion but Arsenal’s class and Van Persie’s intervention was to prove too much for Simon Grayson’s side.

Wenger’s team selection for the weekend clash with Wigan will be interesting. We should of course expect starting roles for Van Persie and Fabregas. Theo Walcott would also seem set to earn a recall and his fifth consecutive league start. He will likely come in for Andrey Arshavin who dwindled several opportunities at Elland Road. The back four would seem likely to remain untouched, aside from Clichy’s recall to left-back. Johan Djourou looks set to continue then and offer clean sheet potential against Wigan for a price of 4.2.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Which one do you like the look of gents (if any)?

    A. Tevez/Carroll > Bent/Berbatov
    B. Tevez/Brunt > Rooney/Dempsey
    C. Tevez/VDV/Brunt > Rooney/Evra/Davies

First two are hit free. Thoughts?

Not with 2 freebies this week, it seems a waste and i'm quite sold now on a GW26 WC. Will enable me to set up for GW27, so hopefully i can also have two freebies in GW28 (that is a lot of if's though, injuries are likely to sh*t all over that plan!)

Stockdale is awesome but he won't bee playing when Mark is back from Asian cup.

Al Habsi is a good goalkeeper but he's playing for a weak defense team, Wigan.

I rather take Hart than Reina. Not a good choice. Liverpool defense has been messy.

Anyone else thinking of getting Barry Ferguson (£4.1) as a 5th, almost-never-to-use midfielder?

Almost only for TGW27, or as autosub in case of injuries?

Planning on playing Fabs-Nani-VDV-Adam + RVP/Berba/Torres(->Tevez) for the next GW's.

Well I have to have three good defenders for next week so will probably need to take a hit at some point. (Konchesky and Simpson are worthless for the next three gameweeks when I'm going to wildcard). Was thinking I might as well take the hit now and get a double. Will probably just play it safe and go Drog > RVP and Konchesky > Evra

Not too keen on Skrtel for 4 points. Nor is Vidic probable to outscore Rafael by 4, assuming Raf doesn't get banned for both games.

BTW let's call him "Raf" not "Rafa", eh?! "Rafa" = "Benitez".

Well Vidic's points per game is 4.7, so given he'll play a game more than Raf means he'll likely get your four points back. Additionally there's no risk of rotation and if united get a clean sheet it's much more likely to be home to birmingham. Just looking at the odds it's 60% chance of a clean sheet v. birmingham and only 40% v. blackpool

Skrtel would give you a good option for next week as well as this one. At the moment you're forced to play kolarov next week when he might not play 90. Enrique and your goalkeepers are holding you back i think

The 5th midfielder WILL never be used if it's Barry Ferguson.

Well, it's a purely opportunistic move for TGW27. Three games for Barry - could be 5-6 points, could be 10 (STK/NEW/eve).

I can only just afford Albrighton (£4.7 to use, he costs £4.6), so sadly no N'Zog, Brunt, Etherington or Yaya...

Good proposal.. problem is I'm doing the Torres->Tevez move before GW25 or GW26. And Tevez almost as expensive.

I really want Tevez in now. Another option after the DGW is of course Berba->Bent, that would free up some cash.

Just read that Lamps might have a calf strain so he makes my choice to want to see him a lot easier .....so should I go for Vidic or Evra?

yeh getting rid this week finally. In fairness he hasn't done badly recently (form = 4.8) but I think a lot of people are tired of him

    Choose A or B:

    A — Rooney, N’Zgobia, Reina (4 pt hit)
B — Berbatov, Reina, MGP (no hit)

This would give me a lineup of:

    Reina
    Vidic … ACole … Crainey
    Nani … Dempsey … Nasri … Adam … MGP/N’Zogbia
    Torres … Rooney/Berbatov

    Hit me!!

      Isn't it A-Rooney & N'Zogbia(4 pt hit) & B-Berbatov & MGP or have you made a mistake?

No, it's correct.... MGP only appears in B because he would be playing if I don't bring in N'Zogbia

    question:

    1) who will collect more point between NZOGBIA(dgw) & VDV (single gamer)
    2) do u think BERBATOV will be rested in Blackpool game?

Surely N'Zogbia should be on the watchlist. Double, WB away, Blackburn home in the next 4.

      Yes and no.

There are better strikers than Bent at that price.

Why is there talk about Evra not playing? He's United's first choice left back.

No he hasn't. He didn't score on his Spurs or Ipswitch debut.
          Evra rested? Nonsense.

LOL I sometimes wonder if people on here just read what others write, copy them in later posts and then an idea gathers momentum until it's "fact" on this forum.

ok i'm not going to ask anyone to rate my WC team and I'm fairly happy with it

my only dilemma is whom to start:

    Nasri or VDV

both playing easier opponents this week. nasri with home ground advantage but just played a cup match against leeds. vdv away to newcastle although he seems to rack up big ppg against these kinds of teams

    what's the consensus?

In a similar dilemma myself. Will probably bench Nasri as playing RVP and Djourou as well and have no other Spurs players. It's a coin flip though.

Decent considering you have a dreadful team value.

I'd look at maybe N'Zogbia over Yaya Toure.

      Otherwise, it's solid.

You have 7 of my currently planned 8 defenders, so I can't criticize there.
