Johan Djourou could be back in contention for Arsenal within seven days according to a statement from the Swiss FA.

The Arsenal centre-back, who scored his first goal for the Gunners in Saturday’s 4-4 draw with Newcastle, is out of Switzerland’s friendly with Malta on Wednesday after sustaining a knee injury at St James’ Park. The Swiss FA have been quick to publish details of the injury, prior to an official comment from Arsenal.

The statement reveals that Djourou has suffered only severe bruising of the knee in Saturday’s game. Arsenal have apparently been waiting for swelling around the knee to reduce before conducting a full examination. We should expect confirmation from the club of this verdict very soon.

The news will come as major relief for owners of Djourou, a player who has earned significant Fantasy attention of late and has enjoyed consecutive price rises in the Fantasy Premier League game. However, Djourou would still seem unlikely to figure in the weekend clash with Wolves, the first fixture in Arsenal’s double Gameweek. Sebastian Squillaci would seem set to partner Laurent Koscielny against Mick McCarthy’s side, with Arsene Wenger likely to keep Djourou preserved for the Champions League first leg tie with Barcelona on Wednesday week.

Djourou could nonetheless figure in Arsenal’s second fixture of Gameweek 27, the home clash with Stoke on February 22. His Fantasy owners must therefore decide whether to start Djourou in their Gameweek lineup or potentially transfer him out ahead of Arsenal’s blank in Gameweek 28.

With Thomas Vermaelen set to be sidelined for at least another three-to-four weeks, Djourou’s tenancy in the Arsenal starting lineup should be prolonged and he would seem set to offer continued value over the coming Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    with a defence of
    Foster(begovic)
    Kolarov Kelly (Djourou?,Clark?,Coleman?)

is it sensible to do Djourou>Roger Johnson?

Next week i intend to do fabs, wingie>cahill, saha for -4 in order to field a strong 11.
    my team isnt linked sorry

Wildcarded a few weeks ago to great effect. However was not expecting Hutton to fall from grace so suddenly. Did he play that badly vs Fulham in the Cup?

I just realised something, that I think might not have occurred to a few people on here. I read quite a lot about people saying, oh I'll save a transfer so I have 2 for GW28 after my wildcard, that way the blanks won't be a problem and I can bring in more double players. But 'when playing your wildcard any saved free transfers will be lost, you will be given just 1 free transfer in the following gameweek.' Am I wasting my time or did anyone else not realise this?

The whole reason people were saying that was they were playing their wildcard for GW 26, precisely so they would do no transfers this week and have 2 to make changes for GW 28.

The potential for injuries and other things meant I figured i'd need to make a sub anyway this week, so I held onto my WC. I was planning to WC 26 in the lead up though.

It's only a 4 point hit though, You can still WC to a good team for the next 3 weeks with no hits it will just probably end up very similar to the other WCers due to the limited options.

Can't look at it that way, it depends why and for how long they were flagged. New signings in to the FPL world start with 0 owners and protection goes on for who knows how long which is why Suarez is still up there.

In GW 24 there were tons of protected ones too. I would adivse to assume they aren't protected, Huth was when he rose the other day but I bought him in case.

It means he won't gat aids when playing for Nigeria.

Other than that, it means a player won't rise or fall until "protection" is removed (after 8 days?)
