The eighth gameweek of the season is brought to a close tonight at Ewood Park, as Blackburn Rovers host Sunderland.

The visitors are bolstered by the availability of their star striker Darren Bent, and out-of-position fantasy favourite Ahmed Elmohamady also starts to the relief of many. Elsewhere, there is only one change from the side that held Manchester United before the international break, as Danny Welbeck comes in for Boudewijn Zenden after not being eligible against his parent club.

The home side make two changes from their previous league outing at the Britannia Stadium, with Martin Olsson and Nikola Kalinic replacing Ryan Nelson and Mame Biram Diouf.

Blackburn XI: Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Givet, Olsson, Nzonzi, Jones, Emerton, Pedersen, El-Hadji Diouf, Kalinic

Sunderland XI: Mignolet, Onuoha, Turner, Bramble, Bardsley, Malbranque, Cattermole, Elmohamady, Henderson, Welbeck, Bent

    Guys, just got back in after a massive pub session - because I'm a lad.

    Chuffed with Blackburn's clean sheet tonight, all I needed was a clean sheet from Samba to progress through to the next round of the cup. Happy Jamsiep. Hopefully I get Partridge in the next round. 😀

            At least you weren't knocked out by someone who created a team specifically for the cup. There are a few out there... In the list of initial entrants there were some people with IDs like 2,200,00 - i.e. created in week 7 etc...

            I got beat by 'Leeds Champion' and I don't think I've seen him post for ages.

            I don't even know what his final score was, don't want to torture myself. I last checked on Saturday night and he had a 10 point lead with 4 players left, and I had Gerrard, Konchesky and Samba to make up the deficit. 😉

      Everton have had 3 cleanies in a row in three toughish games, (ful, bir, Merseyside Derby), so when I get Coleman in next week and they embark on an easy run of games, they will be due a few defensive mishaps. 😉

                I'm surprised you waste your time with 11 teams though. Surely the more teams that you have, the more likely you will have one that will do well that could potentially win FPL. Same as in the lottery, the more lines you have, the higher chance of you winning the big money.

                  no, i have one team for minileagues/cup/everything, rest are just for my personal whims and not entered into any competitions.

                  check for yourself. league is 'destiny league', not one of them teams is entered into any competition, i do it cos i like making transfers and if i did them all in my main team i'd be doing worse. arrrggghhhh

                    I'm not saying that you definitely do this, but you COULD just re-nominate your 'main team' to the one that ends up doing the best.

                    Plus why do you need 11 teams to try stuff out, like for instance, I didn't transfer Tevez in this week, but I still know that if I had, it would have got me 12 points. I don't need to create a few bogus extra teams to realise this.

                    I just think it's a waste of time, that's all. Nothing majorly wrong with you doing it, but I find that having one team takes up a lot of my thoughts and I wouldn't want other teams that I was running coming into my considerations at all. 🙂

                    erm, well no, my league mates would realise straight away and my ffscout membership team is linked to my membership account so not at all.

                    you're not understanding me, i don't even try in these other teams, i don't have to, i just make transfers i want to and sometimes it pays off. takes 15 mins a week. sorry if that devalues all your time and effort somehow.

                    Fair enough, but I still think it's a waste of time as what do these extra teams get you? Do you feel more satisfied if one of your extra teams has a good week, even if your main one does badly? Any team can have the occasional good week so it doesn't mean too much if one of your extra teams scores 80+ points, just concentrate on your main squad mate, and you will get just as much satisfaction.

                    Making transfers is just clicking buttons on the screen, the actual process of changing players in your 15 is not THAT exciting! 😀

                    nah, get no satisfaction on how well the others teams do, it's about the players i put in. if i can successfully prove i've picked someone/the right strategy before i had it in my main team then my mates comes along and tries passing it off as hid idea i can prove i had the original ideamyself without them trying to prove that they're better than me. i'm a f*cking child to care about this kinda shit, but that what some of my mates are like. i'm 27 lol

                    Yeah, but if you thought of a successful move 'first', before your mates, why not put in in your main team.

                    Plus with so many teams, and so many transfers, you are bound to make SOME great moves, but probably don't highlight to your mates any of the bad transfers you make. It's a bit like tipping too many people, I could say that I think some of Nani, VDV, Bale, Malouda, Drogs, Tevez, Fabregas,... are in line for a big week in GW9. As I am casting my net so wide it takes away the credibility as I am obviously going to predict some big scorers next week if I name loads of them.

                    See what I mean, you shouldn't really be using these extra teams just so that you can brag about the good transfers to your mates, just whip them with your main team instead! 🙂

                  you speak a lot of sense, n i haven't had to brag at all cos i've been top since gwk1. it's my safety net, nothing all. not even mentioned i've a team doing better to my mates. if they look on their own accord, it might depress them,which is funny anyway hahaha!

      it was fair and he can nly blame himself as his miscontrol put him in the situation. welbeck went down very easily but that's what players do as they know a red card will be the result. it's definitely only a 1 match ban as it was a professional foul not violent play right?

            It was funny as I was watching the game and just hoping and praying that Rovers could get to half-time with the cleanie intact, and then THAT happens!

            Didn't bother watching the second half.

            I did notice that Samba was playing a few poor balls in the first half, and the stat about Blackburn having the lowest pass completion percentage in the league kept popping into my mind, and it's because of players like Samba.

              That is not true mate. Samba had a bad game obviously but he's been immense for a while now, plus he's one of the best passers in our team believe it or not.

                Samba has been immense because he's big and strong and wins lots of headers and tackles. Passing isn't his forte, at least not today it wasn't as several times he played a lot of wayward balls over the top to no one in particular.

                His crap control and poor passback for the sending-off incident doesn't help his cause either.

    What sort of lenghts should i go to to get fabs back into my team?

    At the moment my team is:
    foster, mignolet
    dann, konchesky, faye, elmo, o'shea
    nani, malouda, VDV, yaya, bale
    drogs, carrol, tevez
    I also want to get adam and coleman. I have 1.0 in he bank.

    to do this I would have to make quite a few changes and have very weak subs. for example:

    faye->coleman
    koncheky->foley
    o'shea-> perch
    yaya->adam
    bale->fabregas
    carrol-> ameobi
    these changes over the next 2 weeks would allow me to get him at a cost of -12pts. or i could use my WC

    this would give me a sarting team of:
    dann,coleman,elmo
    nani,malouda,fab,vdv,adam
    drogs,tevez
    whuch is very strong but i wouldnt have much options on the bench if some had bad fixtures.

    would Fabs be worth all of this?
    alternatively, i could sacrifice another big player like malouda
    ??????????

    Needed a little help with team transfers and overall direction for gameweek 9 and beyond.
    Current team -
    Gomes Jasskelinen
    A. Cole, O'shea, Konchesky, El Mohamedy, Jones
    Malouda, Arshavin, N'Zogbia, Nani, Albrighton
    Tevez, Berbatov, Carrol

    For upcoming gameweek:
    Arshavin --> Brunt/Adam

    Excess funds to use elsewhere?? Carrol to Ankelka perhaps? or upgrade Defence?

    Help/Suggestions appreciated

      Bring Drogba back... You've got Nani as UTD coverage... Also try and fit Fabregas in if u can.. Everyone will try and have him when he's up and running but he is essential when he's on song..       I'm thinking of shipping K.Toure out for Coleman, and then swapping Nasri for Fabs come GW10. Might need to downgrade Konchesky to a 4.5 def to make room too.

      That'd let me have a midfield of Fabs/Malouda/VdV/Nani/Adam, but will leave me with a horrendous defensive line. Coleman/Jones/Williamson/Foley/ 4.5 def will just give me 6 most weeks 😛

    Overall quite happy with my WC choices this week, scored 68... Would've been higher if not for Samba's red card but cant complain as im on top of my H2H league.. Quick question.. Is this midfield too weak in ur opinion?

    N'Zogbia/Malouda/Adam/Etherington/Fabregas

    This allows me to fit Fabs in and keep Tevez and Drogs up front, with a decent defense.. It gives me more balance..

      If you don't mind sharing, as many of us face the same dilema, please link your team, or list your entire roster. Obviously you favor Malouda over Nani-but wouldn't Nani give you more flesibility elsewhere?

      I have Berbs and drog up front, want Fab, now have Nani, Malouda, Etherington, Bale, and Nolan. Looking at NZog and Adam, but thats 3 transfers, so it will take some time.

      My d sucks - 3 points from 5 players this week, and two of those points came from an auto sub 9Stam). Thought about Coleman, but took Samba instead. Not only did he score -2, but now he is suspended for a week too! I have Krul, Foster, Alex, Samba, Shawcross, Hangeland, and Stam. How do i beef up my d?

      It would depend on the rest of your team. You'd need to rotate your 3rd striker or a 4th defender with Ethers/Zog when one of them got a hard fixture. Having Fab, Drog, and Tevez is nice though.

      strong midfield for the most part, because of the expected consistency of their returns. All of those players could produce each week. Furthermore, you have the other two studs in attack.

    I'm really torn between Malouda and Fabregas. I have Malouda and want Fabregas eventually, but don't think I can have both. Malouda is clearly having a great season, and it may be premature to transfer him out for Fabregas within the next couple of weeks.

      You could always downgrade Berbatov and replace Nasri with Fab (can't have everyone).
      I had Fab earlier and replaced him with Arshavin who has hardly delivered in his absence.
      I can't wait to get rid of the lazy russian. I want to do it now but I'm doing so bad this season that I cannot afford to get Fab this early only for him to pick up a knock (godforbid) in the CL

    For those playing the Oz EPL.

    Up to 24th overall with my main team & 28th overall with my TM team.
    Best scorers this week were olive (35th overall), François Bozizé & Dick Fran Dyke. The league is now the 10th best league. Biggest risers were N'Zogbia & Coleman who both went up 2 million. Biggest fallers in price were Berbatov, Malouda & Evra all dropping 1.5 million. Evra will get even cheaper next week due to the own goal.
