Just in case you missed it, we’re supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow we’ll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, we’re going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.

The Live Matchday Experience

PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen – this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games you’re playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, it’s addictive stuff when you’re tussling at the top for some prize money.

For a preview of a live matchday on PlayON, check out this movie.

My Club and League of Titans

We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your club’s points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.

This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, “League of Titans” – which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek – leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.

Open Challenges

PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if you’re new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the “Open Challenge” option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.

The New PlayON

There’s a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at what’s in store and you can view the development site via this link.

As you’ll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but there’s also new features on the way:

Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and you’ll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.

Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.

And there’s more…
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.

The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.

Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterday’s strategy guide for some tips to get you started.

You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a £2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed £500 prize pot this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Why are so many people ignoring Man City options? First six fixtures are : NEW car HUL sto MUN avl.

4/5 of those are very favourable and the new manager will surely want to get off to a winning start to impress and put pressure on favourites, United and Chelsea.

Also, Nastasic is out meaning Lescott is challenging Boyota for a CB spot. Surely he is a great punt at only 5.5?

Furtherforward, Silva has been playing well pre-season and with the new acquistions and able forwards, he will be back to his best providing assists left, right and centre.

The problem lies up front but Dzeko has featured prominently in 6/7 of City's pre-season games and is a shoe in for the man up-front, with Aguero injured. This will leave Jovetic most likely to play in behind or next to him with Silva behind both.

    Thoughts on City players?

People are avoiding them, because there isn't any certainty around starting line-ups.
Easy early games also mean that probably Pellegrini has the opportunity to further experiment with the line-up.
Silva isn't nailed on IMO as well. Makes total sense to be rotated on the wing and in the whole, but definitely will have more game-time than some of the other attacking options.
However, do you really prefer Silva than Michu or Coutinho for the same price?

I think Silva is the only player who fits all of Pellegrini's systems and is also the most versatile.
Think City should just play a front 6 or Silva, Navas, Jovetic, Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo. Be easier to work out if not outrageously attacking!

Enrique it would seem, looking at other teams. He was very attacking towards the end of last season, I don't know how he'll be affected going down the left with Coutinho not there (if he plays in the hole). Enrique's points per playing time is up there with strikers like Benteke and midfielders like Silva and Cazorla.

I think the problem is there are simply more enticing options upfront. I've seen Dzeko in a lot of teams but nobody knows who is going to be first choice so it's preferable to go with the nailed on options instead. It's something I personally don't want to deal with until I've seen how the team sets up in the first few weeks to begin with. Silva is likely suffering from his poor year last term and his lack of goals, I'm struggling to decide between him and Coutinho. Coutinho is the new flashy option who has succeeded over a small sample and has yet to "fail", and whilst Silva has done it before, his lack of success last year affects people's perception of him. I think Navas is a player who could emerge as an option with playing time, although he's too pricy to begin with.

    Foster (Boruc)

Collins - Kosch - Turner Norwich (Tuner Cardiff, colman)
    Oscar - Hazard (C) - Coutinho - Snodgrass (Koren)
    RVP - Lukaku - Anelka

    Right...

Sky have clarified the captaincy rules

    https://fantasyfootball.skysports.com/help/

And it means that you can CHANGE CAPTAIN by moving the armband once per gameweek (gameweek goes from 00:01am Saturday through to Friday). AND you can TRANFSER YOUR CAPTAIN during the gameweek) and the incoming player can score double points. Changes have to be made prior to the first kick off of the day to be effective.

Here's what I've come up with:

RVP captain vs Swansea (or any other player you have playing on Saturday)
Move armband to Hazard for Hull and Villa
Transfer Hazard to Coutinho (or Gerrard) vs Villa
Transfer Coutinho to Silva vs Cardiff & Hull
Move armband to RVP vs Liverpool & Palace
Move armband to Liverpool player for Swansea and Southampton
Move armband to Arsenal player for Stoke and Swansea
Move armband to Liverpool player for Sunderland and Palace
Move armband to Chelsea player for Norwich and Cardiff
Move armband to Tottenham player for Villa and Hull
Move armband to City player for Chelsea and Norwich
Move armband to Everton player for Tottenham and Palace
Move armband to City player for Sunderland and Tottenham
Move armband to RVP for Cardiff and Tottenham
Move armband to Chelsea player for Southampton and Sunderland

28 captains in the first 13 GWs.

You might not have RVP, a City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Everton player in your team for this sequence, but that's where the transfer in option comes to the rescue.
