No thrills. Few spills. Just two men in a room talking about Fantasy Football.

Granville and I handed Jonty and the “Professor” an extended pre-season and rolled the ScoutCast back to its rawest form. Just myself and the Mancunian sharing our thoughts after a summer break and looking forward to another Fantasy campaign.

We talk double Gameweek assets, I roll out the van Persie duvet, Granville reveals more than he should about his team lineup and, around all that, we assess the early bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures.

Forty-five minutes of two blokes talking about the stuff that’s rattling around in most of our heads right now.

    Who you think is gonna have a better season defensively? Swansea or West Brom.. Swansea have looked amazing in preseason and look liek they could offer a lot of CS's. West Brom have'nt really bought in new talent and should average similar CS's to last season. Thinkin Vorm instead of Foster now tbh

    Yeah, I am a bit afraid of what will happen in Chelsea DGW, so I stuck to Cech.

    Nolan won me a beer last year (bet against my work mate) - So he stays.

    Lambert is probably on fire after scoring for England.

    Now I wonder who to go for (c). Logic would say Hazard, but what if he plays only once? At least 50% of the people will be going wrong with me...

    Who do you think will have a better season defense wise? West Brom or Swansea?
    I can see Swansea challenging for top 6 while West Brom will do their usual and average out in the middle of the table. Considerin vorm over foster tbh(and play boruc every week from the start until vorm's fixtures improve)

      he's a box to box midfielder so he could get some good points from arriving late for knock downs etc. Maybe he will be like a Yaya Toure or a Leroy Fer

    Morning everyone. Traffic's slowed down a bit here so can I pop one in? I've been reshuffling my defence and have come up with a few queries.

    A) Start the season with Zabaleta or Koscielny?
    - - - I'm a little worried about rotation to be honest and my budget spread doesn't allow me to have both. That fear of rotation with Richards might push me towards getting Koscielny over Zabaleta.

    B) Which 4.5 defender to downgrade Ivan to for GW 2 (barring SOT)?
    - - - Considering Michael Turner or Collins if he's fit.

    So who would be your 4.5m space savers, or bench fodder midfield maestro 🙂 ?

    Earlier on there wasnt a RMT without Jerome Thomas, but now he's injured for a few weeks there is same uncertainty on who to get.

    Here's are the my 3 favourites doing the rounds.

    Barkely (eve)

    In direct completion with Fellaini, Osman, Gibson and maybe even Naismith. Martiez been singing his praises pre-season and he's featured a lot. Issue is... Game time ? Attacking potential?

    Morrison (WHM)

    Livlely, attacking ex-troubled untied youngster. Has had a fab preseason, but now uncertainty over Downings arrival.

    Williams (pal)

    Only 19 years of age and huge potential. Voted CPL young player of the year. His previous stats are not the best, but has been troubled by injuries. Now fighting fight, normally plays wide ride, but can also play central. Operated in the hole mid week for Wales.

    Other contenders include... Cabral (sun), Jedinak (pal), Lucas (LFC). No doubt some others.

    Who are your favourites?

      I will suggest an alternate strategy that has crossed my mind. Get a team with a decent player who you want next week on the bench- Mirallas, HBA, Snoddy. And go Hazard to the unexpected best 4.5 mid who will emerge in the next week. That is also a perfect entry strategy to RVP as it will give you enough cash to improve most of your strikers to him.

        ha. this is my exact strat, with ben arfa on the bench. 'cept i may risk dropping to a 5.0 rather than a 4.5, depending on whether rvp looks like rising faster than the chelsea players or not.

      Pozuelo. Should get some game time in a reshuffled Swansea midfield in De Guzman's absence. Will be an impact sub but looked good enough in preseason and Europa qualifiers to be be pushing for a starting spot.

      I like and have Meyler. Always liked him at Sunderland before his injury, he looked like becoming a really good player. Should be nailed on and should get some goals or assist.

      How about Pennant. No idea if he's nailed on, but has PL experience which can't be said for many at that price range.

      I'm guessing the Jerome injury news helps Williams somewhat? He might be the best choice, or Jedniak for a safer, less exciting choice. Shame about Quinn, he looks the pick of the bunch to me.

      There's also Grandin for Palace (my current pick) who is likely to play on the right of a front three.

          I can't see beyond RVP myself but then I was really burned end of last season by dropping him to try and gain a differential - I think I still bear the scars!!

              Nice - very similar then, swap Soldado for RVP and that's my lot. I'm paying for it slightly in midfield but hopefully a couple of mid-priced gems will pay-off.

              I wasn't around long enough yesterday to see the answer but have you gone for a cheap keeper rotation? I've been on Migs/Marshall all pre-season but have been swayed to Cech/Marshall to maximise DGW with least impact on GW3. That's the one that's giving me the biggest headache at the moment...

      I was on Jerome Thomas until yesterday but I'm now on Williams - he's looking nailed on if pre-season appearances are anything to go by. Plus 41 appearances last season would indicate Holloway favours him.

      Otherwise Grandin, Yacob and Pennant all came onto the radar but none appear to have the combination of nailed-on-ness and assist threat that Williams offers. That's my two-bob anyway!

      Think I'm now torn between:
      a) Boateng - will get game time and none of my other cheapies in Def or Mid are Fulham so saves doubling up on CRY or CAR
      b) Jedi - Members stats have him as top for GW3
      c) Grandin - because had him in for ages
      d) Thomas - looks good for GW3, but will he be back in time?

      Under Holloway at Blackpool he played 42 times and scored 6 goals, he obviously trusts him.

        Bear in mind though, he's last foray in the Premier League was 1 goal and 3 assists in 1500 mins playing time... it appears a toss of the coin between him and Williams. Anyone have Holloway's number?

      Also Yacob, Tettey and Tiote, but all are holding mids. Basically its not easy eh!

      Cabral, as we know he's should get 90mins for SUN.

      Honestly, what are the chances any of these players produces an offensive return on the one week we field them?

      Later in the year we'll see the value emerge from the 4.5mil-5.5mil price bracket but, at this stage it's just too hard to guess...

    Really struggling with my strikeforce, guys.

    I want Benteke, but he has 2 tough games I'll need to transfer him out. I also want Bony, but he has a tough old start.

    Soldado, Lukaku and Weimann is where I'm at now, with a midfield of Silva, Walcott, Hazard, Coutinho and Kim.

      ohers will disagree, but I dont think there is such a thing as a tough game for Benteke. He is a beast and capable of netting one against anyone. Id downgrade silva and repalce weimann. wait a few weeks on Bony.

        I think you are right. Besides, I might want Navas or Negredo from City, it's best to wait and see for them.

      I'd get Benteke instead of Weimann tbh... You'll need to downgrade Silva to Mirallas or Nolan probably to do that.

      Personally I think Swansea will put a couple past United on Saturday, Michu has scored against United in both fixtures last season. If you're happy to stick with Weimann I'd get Michu in instead of Silva who's looking increasingly like the FF player Modric was...

        I don't know, I asked earlier this week and some said that we might need to assess how fit he is, there was some picture that had him look fat! Though it could easily be a fake one.
