Sunday offers a couple of four o’clock encounters, with City facing a trip to newly promoted Cardiff, alongside a lip-smacking encounter between Europa League rivals, Tottenham and Swansea at the Lane.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be looking to build on the fine 4-0 win over Newcastle on Monday to inflict a second defeat on new boys Cardiff. Malky MacKay’s outfit failed to make an impression on the West Ham defence on the opening day but may fancy their chances against a City side without the services of skipper Vincent Kompany.

In North London, Swansea will arrive having suffered a 4-1 home defeat to champions United but boosted by their midweek Europa League victory which saw them put five past their Romanian opponents. They’ll meet a Spurs side also buoyed by five goals in Europe and looking to add to their three points gained at Palace last weekend, a victory that came courtesy of Roberto Soldado’s cooly taken spot-kick. All eyes will be on the Spaniard today as he sports the Fantasy armband for many.

The team news is in and as is follows:

Manuel Pellegrini makes just one change to the team that swept aside Newcastle on Monday evening. The City boss brings in Javi Garcia for the injured Vincent Kompany at the back and keeps faith in Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero up top, with Alvaro Negredo warming the bench once again. Matija Nastasic is fit enough for the subs bench as he steps up his recovery from an ankle injury.

The Bluebirds also make just a single alteration to last week’s team. Andrew Taylor returns at left-back after serving a one-match suspension, with Declan Jon dropping out. Fraizer Campbell leads the line again, though new boy Andreas Cornelius makes the bench after an ankle complaint.

At White Hart Lane, Andre Villas-Boas rolls out a 4-3-3 and hands Etienne Capoue a first start for the hosts alongside Mousa Dembele and Paulinho in central midfield, as Gylfi Sigurdsson shifts to the bench. Andros Townsend replaces the injured Aaron Lennon on the right after impressing in the midweek Europa League win over Dinamo Tblisi.

Michael Laudrup makes a couple of alterations from the side that started against Man United last week. Fit-again Jonathan de Guzman and Pablo Hernandez replace Leon Britton and Nathan Dyer, with the latter remaining sidelined with a hamstring complaint. Michu leads the line again with Jonjo Shelvey ion “the holeâ€, meaning Wilfried Bony warms the bench once more for the Swans.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and available throughout today’s games for those in search of some real-time chatter as events unfold.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A) Who's more likely to start starting, Brayford or Parr?

    B) Is it worth -4 pts to replace one of them with a 4.0 starter?

    C) Is Chambers nailed on for Saints and therefore the best replacement?

    Just wanted to say i think that the "he's only scored from pens" argument is ridiculous.
    It's the equivalent of saying I'm worried about van persie he wouldnt have any points if he didn't keep shooting should i be worried about him....

    Soldado scores tap ins and pens that's the type of player he is. Right time right place. Hes clinical is what matters whether it's from a spot kick or not.

    Cech | Boruc

    Zabaleta | Toure | Terry | Chester | Tuner

    Silva | Walcott | Hazard | Nolan | Whittingham

    Soldado | Sturridge | Anelka

    Thoughts on these 3 transfers for -4 hit?

    Terry --> Colins
    Hazard --> Barkley
    Anelka --> Aguero

      By the sounds of everyone's score, something near 40! Not good for me.

    Can't pick between Sturridge and Giroud atm.. Sturridge has two hard fixtures while Giroud has a derby. I already have Wally as Arsenal coverage, but no Pool attacking coverage.

    So the question is, should I ignore Pool attacking coverage for the next 2-3 gws and double up on the Gunners with Wally and Giroud? What would you do? Thanks.

      Sturridge scores for fun, and just seems to have that killer instinct in front of goal

      Giroud is doing well, but I don't rate him as strong as Sturridge.

      It's close though.

        I know I want Sturridge long-term but this would be for the following 2 maybe 3 gws only

      Making the switch to Giroud this week, the 0.5 savings will be critical.

    Which promoted side defense impressed you the most? All 3 did impress and Palace were unexpectedly good. Hull look like they've got the park the bus trick sorted, but they need to score first to apply that and that will be tricky. Palace were surprisingly disciplined and dint compromise their attack either,. very impressive. Cardiff look good as a whole though.. look well disciplined and should do good at home. Cardiff Palace Hull for me in that order

    Judging by the above, 48 (including BAPS) with Hazard to go is pretty poor right?

    I actually thought it was alright, but doesn't look it....
