Sitting pretty in sixth place in the Premier League, West Brom have surprised the majority of people with their positive and refreshing approach since the beginning of the season. While it’s been frontman Peter Odemwingie who has gathered most of the headlines, the last few gameweeks have seen Chris Brunt really make his mark for the Baggies.

With most expecting Graeme Dorrans to be the star man in Roberto di Matteo’s midfield at the start of the season, Brunt, initially, did nothing to disprove this theory with a mere six Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points in his first three games, but since then, he has not just been the best points scorers in West Brom’s midfield, but one of the best in the league overall.

Brunt’s last five games read 6,5,6,5,11, which includes him picking up the maximum 3 Bonus Points in each of his last two games. He has bagged 1 goal so far and is second only to Nani in terms of assists, with 5 to his name already. Sitting on 39 pts, Brunt, priced at just £5.5m and owned by only 2% of managers, is sixth overall in the game in terms of “value“.

Pretty much a permanent fixture in the side, he has missed just 13 minutes of the season so far and seems to be the Baggies chief set-piece taker, as well as taking the odd penalty, too. A look at his home and away tallies shows there is no difference to Brunt’s output. He has 18 points at the Hawthorns and 21 points on the road; given that West Brom’s four away games have been at Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United, that’s a considerably impressive haul.

Brunt stacked up a points total of 121 in the 2008/09 campaign that saw his club relegated, but this time round Di Matteo’s tactics and personnel look like giving West Brom a far greater chance of survival, which is illustrated in the fact that with just eight games gone, Brunt has already picked up a third of that total.

With (FUL, blp, MCY, whm, wig, STK) up next for the Baggies, there’s no reason for any prospective Brunt owners to doubt his upcoming potential returns, given that he approaches Gameweek 9 off the back of an 11 point performance at Old Trafford.

I have a defence of Toure, Samba, Cole, Shawcross, Dawson

I have 1 free transfer but haven't used WC. What can/should i do? Proper messed up in terms of injuries and suspensions.

I'd keep Toure / Cole long term, swap Samba for Mummy this week and play those three at the back. Other options could include coleman or boswinga. This season Chelsea and City seem the only half decent bets for clean sheets so best to look at OOP defenders..

    Hi All,
What keeper and three defenders would you play at the back out of this lot:

    Krul / Foster
    Coleman / O'Shea / Konchesky / Enrique / P Jones

    ------- rest of team------
Nani / VdV / Malouda / Adam (Albrighton)
    Drogba / Tevez / Berba

    Thanks!

Well I've just paid 4 pts to transfer in Bos. Assuming he'll be playing every week, and that he'll be as good as he was before he was injured, then he's worth getting in against Wolves and will gain value fairly quickly.

In retrospect though, both are pretty hefty assumptions for me to have made - even if he's first choice fullback after the sort of layoff he's had he'll probably take a while to get back to his best.

Lastly, judging by how my season's been going, if I think something's a good idea, then it'll invariably turn out not to be!

I don't think he's a guaranteed starter. I think Alex, Ivanovic and Bosingwa will be rotated for the 2 spaces in the back 4.

who knows the mind of Harry Redknapp? Article saying he thinks Bale is tired. How valuble is this news?

Here's my situation, after bringing in VDV, ive been looking for the right time to drop Bale. Yesterday, after bale scored 3 in champions, I decided to keep him for one more match and picked up Coleman for my defence.

Ive been wanting to bring in Adam for bale at some point. Should I take a 4 pt hit to add adam now? my bench is rubbish really. I have jara, albrighton, and foley. also adams price is going up tonight. im 3 points behind the league leader at the moment.

probably isn't even a girl just like camzy w/a girl gravatar. you guys have kfc in the uk? gross. legally, they can't use the word chicken for a reason, which is why they refer to it as kfc only.

don't you know a thing about the food commercials? they always make it look good on tv. and no it's not 100% chicken which is why they can't say chicken. it's basically a bunch of processed other scraps all molded together, which is the crap part.

Bosingwa's fitness has really thrown a spanner in my plan.

I can still go ahead, but if I can get Bosingwa, get Fabs and keep Malouda, surely, that's what I should be aiming for?

I really regret using my wildcard early now. I got a rise off Cole, Nasri and Alcaraz, but now, I'm really struggling to get Fabs!

I have two plans. Which one do you guys like more? Both 4 point hits.

A - Would get Bosingwa in for GW11

    Simpson, Fabregas, Bosingwa, Malouda

    B - All done by GW 10

    Cole, Fabregas, Nasri, Alcaraz

A looks really enticing, but if Bosingwa doesn't hold down a place, I'm royally stuffed, because a supporting cast of Simpson, Jara, Elmohamady and Coleman is unlikely to give much support.

start w/B as it will be done sooner, then you can always downgrade cole to bosingwa and get malouda back.

        That's the thing, I can't.

0.5 loss in value from Malouda will mean lots of hits to get him back in.

If I transfer Malouda out, I'm not getting him back for at least 6 weeks.

hmm, that's a tough one, but i think when bosingwa is fully fit he's sure to start right? at least i have a similar plan of downgrading cole and bringing in nani for ethers w/the cash.

If Bosingwa doesn't hold down a place, Boateng and Kolarov at Citeh would be good, similarly priced replacements. I'm planning to get whichever of those 3 looks like being a regular 1st team player in GW11.

I'm preferred not to get much headache with my defensive line, if avoidable.. A is tempting but I think B would give me more peace of mind and can use free transfer to shuffle my midfields.

    Schwarzer Carson
    Alex Konchesky Dann Jones Shawcross
    Malouda Nani VDV A.Johnson Barton
    Drogba Tevez Carroll

    I was thinking A. Johnson to Adam/Brunt
Should I swap Alex out too, and if so, who for? Bosingwa or Coleman?

Only thing that's giving me concern is my keeper choice.

    Hart or Gilks?

    what do you think people?

      thats a hard one

birmingham arent particularly goal scorers but that new tall guy mite grab a goal

fabregas is back so u cant count on arsenal stealing a chance either...and i dno y hart seems so arrogant these days since he rejoined mancity and became englands number 1

i preferred him far more at birmingham
