If you ditch a player after one blank, it feels like you shouldn't have bought that player in the first place. Either that or fixtures took a turn for the worse, I dunno.

It depends on tons of factors, I believed in Soldado and Spurs to start putting away some chances with their great fixtures, so I held on to him, but now that he didn't get a start it's too risky and I've dumped him.

Patience is key in this game. The trick is to know when to get a certain player.

Last season was pretty easy, just hold on to the main man (Mata, RVP, Walcott, Suarez for example) because the whole team is very dependent on him; a bad week is just a one-off occasion, the big guy will deliver almost instantly.

This year is a different story. A lot of non FPL-gold players are taking the limelight (Giroud, Ramsey, Coleman, reborn Siggy, etc.) which make things a bit harder for us.

I think you need to have the right balance between being patient with certain players and being quick to get certain players in. Strikers are in a demanding position and I think if they aren't performing they need to go pronto because there are many strikers who are. Soldado and RVP should have been sold weeks ago and I don't understand the patience of some managers for players who have been under performing for so long.

Because of Suarez' extreme ineffectivity his first season, and having been burnt by him before (in addition to him being a despicable player) I did the huge mistake of dumping him before the Christmas period last year. My season sort of ended there.

I was confident of dumping HBA before this GW, that I even took a hit (which worked out fairly well). He's back to his old self, was my reasoning.

It all comes down to predicting future returns, not looking at paterns in past returns. Underlying stats are very useful in this case but of course should be used along with other things as the basis a decision.

Soldado's stats have been very promising, hence many holding. Now he has been effectively dropped, his future play-time is too risky, so I will look to shift.

Lambert on the other hand looks safe to hold onto. His stats have also been good but he still looks nailed-on and I expect him to match the likes of Lukaku and Remy over the coming weeks

For them both to succeed at the optimum level (and not take points off each other), Liverpool will need to score enough goals for the both of them.

Nonetheless, you are beholden to the outcome of ONE match, so you automatically reduce the PROBABILITY of goals ... that is why defenders sometimes work.

You are spot on that their output is independent, but the odds of them both scoring are less than the individual odds of them scoring. I may have explained that badly too...

I don't see a problem doubling up either. Right now though, I just don't have the transfers and I'm perfectly happy with my strikeforce of Lukaku, Sturridge and Giroud. However I'd easily take in Suarez (and double with Sturr) before I took in Rooney.

If Sturridge and Suarez are the 2 best strikers to own (that's how it's looking right now to me), then getting both makes sense. Judge each player individually.

It's all about timing. Nothing wrong with it but I don't think it's the best option at the moment. Especially with benteke coming back and his fixtures.

Because we've all got sound strike forces and torrid midfields, I doubt many forward transfers other than lukaku in (to free up money) are happening here.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but theres also the likelihood of a player scoring 2 goals to factor in. I like to aim big. Rooney and Giroud both netting 2 in different games seems far more likely in my eyes than Suarez and Sturridge netting 2 each in the same game. Over the season this will even out of course but I want the combination with the best chance of scoring maximum points each week.

I think as long as the target is to score as many poins as possible until the end of the season and you only want to go with one Liverpool defensive slot, then there is no reason not to get both Studge and Suarez.

Those who argue otherwise are missing one key fact, which you mentioned in your post: their respective FPL points totals are completely independent of your FPL team selection. If you think they will be among the top 3-5 scoring strikers in any given period, then I can't see why you can't target both. You can always sell one/both of them if that changes

This reply probably wont be seen, as I have just seen the Hot Topic, but I would like to add my own view.

Firstly, I have failed to see in any of the replies the logic that 1 goal can involve both players FPL points wise (i.e. one assist the other). From the little evidence that we have seen so far, this may well be a common occurrence. Compare to say Arsenal, where many of the goals/assist are shared amongst Giroud and the Arsenal midfield.

I played my WC in GW7, and decided to get Suarez and Lukaku in, meaning I had to sell two out of Giroud, Sturridge and Rooney. Rooney was an obvious choice for me, but I decided to sell Giroud and go SAS, based on my belief that Arsenal goals will be shared amongst more players and ultimately Giroud will score less than Sturridge.

Another point on the double striker coverage is that if Pool score a goal, you are more likely to have someone involved in the goal, so there is a kinda reverse logic.

Another reason behind my choice is obviously short term good fixtures, and the ability to sell one for a returning Benteke in a few weeks.
