We left Gameweek 7 out of pocket although, to be honest, when we’re backing the seemingly unpredictable talents of Victor Moses and Christian Eriksen, perhaps we only have ourselves to blame. We’re on safer ground with the “flutter” this week, banking on two consistent goalscorers with plum home fixtures to give us every chance of snatching some pennies back from Paddy Power.
Before we look at this weekend’s markets, a reminder that Paddy have nudged another set of enhanced odds our way for the weekend. They’re offering 4/1 on a Spurs win at Villa on Sunday. With regular punters getting evens on a Tottenham win, this is another great little opportunity to grab a Paddy Power account and take advantage.
Shifting to our weekend bets with our crispy tenner, we kick things off by backing Swansea’s Michu. Buoyed by his first cap for Spain over the break, he is safely snuggled in the Scout Picks midfield ahead of a home clash with the beleaguered Black Cats. Sunderland turn up at the Liberty with a new manager and fresh ideas but we reckon Michael Laudrup’s slick-passing side will have too much for them. A home win looks likely and with Paddy offering 7/2 on a Michu strike with a Swansea clean sheet, we’ll gladly take them up on that to the tune of £4.
Up front, we were briefly toying with omitting Olivier Giroud from the Scout Picks in favour of a United striker but, with David Moyes’ side misfiring and Arsenal looking odds-on for an Emirates win over visitors Norwich, the Frenchman was irresistible. Without a goal in his last three league outings, we’re backing an end to the dry spell and, with Paddy dangling odds of 11/2 on a Giroud goal with an Arsenal clean sheet against Norwich, we’ll lay down another £4 of our stake, here.
That leaves us just a couple of shekels in the kitty for our final market but, with generous odds on show, that’s not a problem. Sitting comfortably in the Scout Picks midfield, Jason Puncheon will carry a big threat to Fulham when they pay visit to Selhurst Park on Monday night. It’s also worth noting that Martin Jol’s side have just a single goal on the road this term so, when Paddy offer 10/1 on Puncheon to notch with a clean sheet for Palace it would be rude not to take them up.
