While Luis Suarez did us proud with another heavy scoring Gameweek, our picks from last weekend proved to be a mixed bag. Pablo Hernandez remained benched for Swansea, while both Palace and Liverpool conceded to limit their tallies. We’re looking to make amends this time around, as we turn to a pair of assured Fantasy assets who are back from injury and primed for pivotal roles.

If you’re new to PlayON, read this season’s introduction article for more information. If you’re already a seasoned PlayON player, read on for this week’s selection of ready-made targets…

Gameweek 9 Picks

Goalkeeper – David De Gea
The United back four has been far from convincing this season, having conceded eight in their last four league outings. Despite that form, David Moyes’ rearguard are amongst the favourites to keep a shut-out this Gameweek with shot-shy Stoke the visitors to Old Trafford. Mark Hughes returns to his old stamping ground having watched his side toil to just a single league goal in their last five outings. With that form, David De Gea looks a must for our PlayON lineups this week, given his kind 8.0m valuation. With injuries casting doubt over the United central defensive pairing, De Gea is the secure and value route to a potential United clean sheet.

Defender – Aly Cissokho
There are bargains knocking about in defence this weekend, with United’s Rafael (8.8m) and Swansea’s Neil Taylor (7.9m) also catching our eye. Liverpool’s Aly Cissokho gets the nod for us, however, as he look set to continue at left wing-back for Liverpool when they face the Baggies at Anfield. While Steve Clarke’s side will provide a threat, we can see Liverpool edging a narrow win and, having conceded just two goals in four home matches this term, Cissokho – at a mere 7.4 – could be in line for a clean sheet with the potential of chipping in attacking points from the left flank.

Midfielder – Santi Cazorla
The Spanish playmaker returned to the Gunners lineup for the win over Norwich to form a lip-smacking midfield partnership with Mesut Ozil. While the German playmaker is up their with the most expensive assets ahead of this weekend, Cazorla is available for a bargain 7.0m. Having been rested to the bench for the midweek Champions League tie, we expect Cazorla to start at Palace in an encounter that surely offers goals for the league leaders.

Forward – Christian Benteke
Another player to return from injury last weekend, Benteke is poised to start against Everton at Villa Park after being eased back from the bench in the defeat to Spurs. Having notched four goals in his opening four league starts, Benteke will be well backed to carry the threat to the Toffees. Roberto Martinez’ side have conceded eight in their last four so Benteke, priced at 10.1m ahead of the weekend, looks a shoo-in for those looking to leave funds for midfield investment.

£500 Guaranteed Game this week

PlayON has a £500 Guaranteed Pot on offer this week for a £5.50 entry fee. Once the number of entries reaches 100, the pot will continue to rise above £500 so get involved.

How To Play

PlayON is weekly Fantasy football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built (you can keep changing your team right up to 2 hours before the first kick-off – 10.45 on Sat morning), you can compete for cash. Entering a multiplayer game for a set stake, you’ll have a chance of winning your share of the pot should you finish high enough in the rankings.

Similarly, you can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 56% win rate to this point.

The Fantasy Football Scout Game

We’ve also got a £2 multiplayer game, dedicated to our community, which is now open and the prize pot is building.

Challenge Your Mates

You can also set up your own multiplayer games with your mates to play for free bragging rights or for cash. Create your own game at www.playon.co.uk.

Finally, a reminder that we have published a strategy guide, offering some tips for getting the most from your PlayON lineup, right here.

You have to be over 18 to enter cash games at PlayON. If you do wager some cash, please remember to gamble responsibly. PlayON is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.

I’m having problems with whether or not I should be getting in Chelsea or Man City attacking coverage for the next few months. Moreover, which players should I be looking at?

    So, I’ve done some sums.

    These are Chelsea’s next 7:

    Man City (HOME)
    Newcastle (AWAY)
    West Brom (HOME)
    West Ham (AWAY)
    Southampton (HOME)
    Sunderland (AWAY)
    Stoke City (AWAY)

In the identical fixtures last year, Chelsea’s record was:-

    Won: 3
    Lost: 2
    Drew: 2

These are Man City’s next 7 games:

    Chelsea (AWAY)
    Norwich (HOME)
    Sunderland (AWAY)
    Tottenham (HOME)
    Swansea (HOME)
    West Brom (AWAY)
    Southampton (AWAY)

In the identical fixtures last year, Man City’s record was:-

    Won: 3
    Lost: 3
    Drew: 1

I then took the 3 most consistent attacking point scorers from each team (you may disagree) and added their accrued points over the identical fixtures from last year, as if suggesting that if these games were to turn out identically, this is how the players would fair.

    Chelsea-
    Hazard: 28
    Oscar: 16
    Mata: 46

    Man City-
    Aguero: 24
    Silva: 16
    Toure: 22

Obviously this type of analysis doesn’t really hold much weight. There’s nothing to suggest the games will turn out remotely similar outcomes. Also, these 14 fixtures were spread out of the whole season and not 7 straight games in a row. Injuries and rotation played a huge part in both Silva and Oscar’s low points tally. However, it did serve as a timely reminder of just how devastating Mata can be when he is given the game time.

I was thinking Yaya -> Silva

But in the next weeks people should have Chelsea, City and Swansea cover... That's my opinion!

              Hmm. I like your balance!

I'm tempted to do Toure to Silva this week.

Then Barkley and Baines to Clyne and Oscar/Mata

              Giving me:

              Silva Michu Ozil Mata/Oscar Brady

I think it's worth considering a pivot from Liverpool to Man City attack. I think they're going to struggle the medium term. Negredo, Silva, and Aguero should all be taken very seriously.

Main points from David Moyes' pre-match press conference:

    1. Robin van Persie has a "good chance" of featuring against Stoke City but Danny Welbeck is a doubt. Both forwards missed the Champions League win over Real Sociedad in midweek. "Robin should be okay as he has trained a bit," said David Moyes. "But Danny has some fluid on his knee."

    2. Midfielder Tom Cleverley is sidelined as he is still recovering from his calf problem.

    3. Wayne Rooney has come in for more praise from the manager following his fine start to the season. "He had to make sure he was in the best condition he could be and he's done that," stated the boss.

    4. Marouane Fellaini has "got used" to the cast on his injured wrist and, although it is not easy for the Belgian, hopefully he can continue to play with it on.

    5. David Moyes responded to Mark Hughes' suggestion that United have lost their aura. "That might be Mark’s opinion and he’s entitled to that but we’ll wait and see how the game goes on Saturday."

    Vidic, Coleman, Kolarov, Burner, Chester

How does Lamela's price keep falling?
First, who signed him having not yet had a start? Thats stupid, but seems a few did for his price to fall 1m.
Then, how is it still falling? That means some are only just deciding after 5 or so non starts thats its best to sell him.
In the words of Ian Holloway, Who are these people? Some complete ... Person, must have decided I'll wait till week 9, yeah, week 9, then if he's still not playing I'll sell him for 1m less.

Yes. Surely you must have a safer option.

      Yes, particularly as he's:

      - a defender
      - played on Thursday night
      - liable to some rot.

Better attacking options out there this week i.e. Suaz.
