FFS Paddy Power Cup IX and Members Cup IV – Second Round Draws

We roll out the draw for the Second of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the First Round took place over Gameweek 28. Please not that, as explained in this initial article, these ties won’t take place until Gameweek 30 due to the numerous blanks in the fixture schedule this weekend:

In the Fantasy Football Scout IX, reigning champion Tdubb05 is through to the next round and will face Denis Denis when the action resumes. Looking at some of the other former champions, MCH takes on BroTown_Tindersticks, Jonty is up against coletrickle88, donnellyc squares up to Carlton Palmer and Gooner Dave takes on Fitzy.

The tie of the round sees two of the top 500 FPL managers go head-to-head.Skeptical, currently sitting in 136th spot in the overall standings, take on Lardy, who isn’t far behind in 470th spot.

You can click here to check out the second round draw, which gets underway next weekend, whilst the full list of first round results can be found here.

In the Members Cup IV, reigning champion Acqufresca fell at the first hurdle. He was knocked out by Caladan Brood, who now faces Quite Big Dunc next time around, whilst another former winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, takes on Droginexile. The top-ranked manager is 2nd Man – currently sitting in 380th overall, he’s up against Fitzy (39,504) for a place in the next round.

You can click here to check out the second round draw, which gets underway next weekend, whilst the full list of first round results can be found here.

As always, good luck to all those still in with a shout of the silverware.

Russia Today anchor and correspondent Liz Wahl announced her resignation live on air Wednesday, saying she couldn't "be part of a network that whitewashes the actions" of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Wahl began her remarks by referencing comments another personality on the government-funded TV network made criticizing Russia's invasion of the Ukranian region of Crimea.

Of note she's pretty hot. Hugh hefner should offer a deal.

I suppose it's -4 in 30 and another -4 in 31 so it's not as bad. I currently have RVP and Mata but I am leaning towards E just cause I quite fancy Everton in 30 and 31. Terrified of no Aguero though.

Can't have them all right? I think Aguero is not essential considering he won't be captain, will probably not play 180, has Hull (A) in 30 (2 days rest after Barcelona (A)), has Man Utd (A) as one of his doubles and has Arsenal (A) after that.

Will be essential to get in 33 I'd say but as long as I can survive the price rises, might be the right move. The Fulham match will be very scary to watch though.

I think he'll start tbh after a week break from the Hull game. Will just play around 45/60 I'd imagine though. Can still do the damage.

    my favourite world cup memory is a bit weird;

1986; the one and only time i participated in a ouijaboard. the spirits that lived near me obviously had a sense of humour. the spirit world from the dark side said france would win. i was entirely convinced and said it to anyone who'd listen. my teacher said argentina. i laughed at him. i told him he was a fool, confident of the dark side behind me. i wagered 50p. i lost.

Probably only because it was when I got my first ever World Cup sticker album.

Remember rooting for Holland in the final….yet admiring the hairy Argentinian players - Luque? and Kempes.

Have to say I'm impressed with your WC love.

When tournaments are on I watch mostly every match.

I know loads who haven't an interest in international football at all.

As a young 'un compared to those on here, the 4 major tournaments i've watched i've been rather disappointed with. Euro 2008 was probably my favourite of the four, both of the World Cups have been terrible.

The World Cup 2006 was my first watching where I really understood what was going on, I have distinct memories of Beckham ballooning his penalty over in 04' and Vassell missing shortly after.

'82 world cup. the tragedy of France losing to 'thug' Schumacher then Italys wonderful mauling of Germany in the final with the unforgettable image of Tardelli after scoring. '84 euros where Platini & co got sweet revenge and won deservedly.

The only ones i've seen were 2006 and 2010 and i thought 2006 was better but my favorite world cup in terms of legend and all is '86 just because maradona was so amazing and '82 becasue of how italy won it after so many years against the odds and tardelli doing that celebration where there was just so much passion!

Italia 90 was great from an Irish perspective but I was so young I hardly remember it. 94 will always hold a special place for me as I was still a kid and in awe of everything that happened. 2002 was great again, should've beaten Spain that time and I loved 2010 cos I went to South Africa to see it. Magical time there.

I'm going to stick in a vote for France 98. My first one I was really aware of, but also lots of great games and goals, the emergence of Zizou on the world stage, and a quality final.

As a South African I have to say 2010, as it's the only one I've been to. And it was cheap. 😉

France 98 brings back great memories. Although I was 6, so I couldn't really appreciate the football. 😀

He is a risk time wise, will pele play him against Fulham and I don't think he will get more than 60 mins against United unless absolutely necessary. When you can have Lukaku or Remy with much better fixtures and dgw's as well now there is good reason why people are considering other options.

Considering how awful dzeko has been reccently, the fact they're games in hand, that jovetic is injured, or was and negredo is unfit, i don't think a rest is as likely. Plus he always scores against united and will again. I think 60 mins vs fulham and 85 vs united will be enough.

I'm not quite sure how to fit him in my team. Too much quality in there at the moment. Lets see how he goes in his next game first, see if he gets a decent amount of minutes and whether or not he looks the part.

He came off the bench the week earlier at Anfield and looked promising, I was destined to have him for his annual 'explosion'. I suppose there's still time. 😉

Ben Arfa in GW5, which yielded me my lowest FPL GW score of my career. Previously, I'd never got under 30 in a week. I blame him.

I should be able to get out 9DGWers for -4 or -8 depending on who I want.

Yes, FPL is only a game at end of day. I think losing my job in November and having a terrible FPL season made me realise it is just a game and I was putting too much importance on it. Looking forward to season ending, the WC in Brazil and possibly retiring from FPL.

I'm sorry you lost your job mate. I'm sure you'll feel different about the game next year with a blank canvas and new players to chose from. I'm all for taking the game the less seriously though, have fun with it otherwise it's not worth it.

Maybe, I am not saying I am retiring - I am seriously considering it though. I am taking game less seriously but not having fun with it. I dont want to give up through a season but willing to give up at end of season.

My worst decision in terms of points is after the spurs city game, swapping Aguero for Dzeko instead of Sturridge.

Dzeko 4 points, Sturridge 46 points

Since the Jan WC, I have managed to sell 3 Strikers that have gone on to score a brace the week I sold them - Sturridge, Ade and Bony.

I also fell for the HBA trap in GW5. However, to compound my mistake. I captained him and put Brady 2nd on my subs bench, so when Wally suddenly didn't play through a last minute injury, Collins autosubbed for zero points, leaving Brady's 12 points on the bench.

That gave me a GW rank of 2.76m, and 27-4 points.

I didn't learn, benching Brady once more the following week, missing out on another 11 points - he has been injured ever since.

Captaining Rio Ferdinand against West Brom. At the time I thought it'd be an easy clean sheet and would guarantee a minimum of 12 points, while being a massive differential. Of course, it didn't quite work out like that.

Other blunders include not transferring in:
                - Ramsey early in his scoring run
                - Brady ever
                - Yaya Toure ever
                - Kevin Nolan ever
                - AJ ever
                - holding out on Suarez until it took an 8 point hit and massive defensive weakening to get him in

                And transferring in:
                - Figueroa for three games, which he was dropped for all after playing every game, then reinstated as soon as I sold him
                - Jonny Evans
                - Januzaj (he's done nothing since the sunderland game, really)
                - Nathan Redmond and Martin Olsson on more than one occasion, still yet to do anything when I've owned them

It's a miracle I'm doing okay when you look at it like this.

Merlin Premier League stickers. I'm sure theres a few around these parts that collected these albums back in the day. Anyone have 'swapsies' from 1994 in the depths of their loft?! Moved all my old stuff from mine the other day and remembered I was two stickers short in that album, very annoying.

I was a crap swapper. I remember that when I needed a sticker I declared "Need". When I really needed a sticker I cried "Need badly!!"

That's awful bargaining - revealing my position in transaction immediately.

I'm buying a house at the moment. I must remember, when I'm interested, not to shout "Need Badly" at the Estate Agent.

Good call on the estate agent shout (or lack of!) I'm moving as well at the minute so will remember that one!

As for these two stickers, is there a possibility of a Scoutcast Swapshop?! 🙂 Failing that, I challenge you to mention Paul Rideout in any capacity in a Scoutcast before the end of the season..

Got me thinking...I wonder what the correlation is between the kid who was the big football sticker collector at school and the bloke who is now playing Fantasy Football far too seriously?

                Who can do Venn Diagrams?

BTW I used to collect football cards in the 70's. Not sure when they stopped them.

Yeah, me too. I had a massive 77-78 collection. The bubble gum sticks i ate that year must have been in the hundreds.

Ah yes the sickly pink bubblegum. I had a huge stack of them and being bored one day decided to see how many I could stick in my mouth at the same time

The cards used to smell of it and the paper was all waxy. The excitement of buying a few packs and unwrapping after school. Great days.

Is it possible to play Fantasy Football too seriously?

(He says typing away at midnight on a Weds evening..)

I completed the 86 panini album. Word got that there was a big reward for Jim Smith, who I needed as the last sticker, a kid knocked on my door with it. I'm not sure who was happiest when he left with a massive pile of stickers that I gave him! I've still got it too.

Loved reading this, took me back a few years. I remember me and my brother spend 12 quid on stickers one day and my Mum went mental!
