With Gameweek 29 left in our wake we focus our attentions on the stats that matter in the Sky game including the usual info; the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 30.

Gameweek 29 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

FixtureMoTM
Everton vs West HamLeighton Baines
Fulham vs ChelseaAndre Schurrle
Hull vs NewcastleMoussa Sissoko
Stoke vs ArsenalJon Walters
Southampton vs LiverpoolLuis Suarez
Aston Villa vs NorwichChristian Benteke
Swansea vs Crystal PalaceYannick Bolasie
Tottenham vs CardiffMicheal Dawson

The MoTM awards were spread fairly evenly amongst the outfield players this week, with defenders picking up two awards and midfielders and forwards taking home three each. Luis Suarez ended his mini-drought at the weekend, earning him his seventh award of the season so far. He is now just two behind the overall leader Eden Hazard who sits on nine awards in total.

Gameweek 29 Bonus Points

Only one goalkeeper managed five saves or more this week – David Marshall was the man in question with a total of five saves to just edge the points. Vito Mannone is still sitting at the top of the bonus rankings with 18 additional points to his name.

In defence, a total of nine players gathered bonus, five for tackles and five for passes completed – stand in full-back Kyle Naughton was the only man to earn both. Angel Rangel and Chico are the top bonus point earners with 22 extra points so far.

In midfield, 12 players earned bonus points – five for tackling and seven for passes. Morgan Schneiderlin was the closest to earning both, falling just eight passes short of the required 60. Schneiderlin now joins Yaya Toure on 36 additional points.

One forward managed to earn tackling bonus – Johan Elmander was the player to successfully make four tackles as he tried to unsettle the Aston Villa backline.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
NegredoMan City8.68.25%
OscarChelsea7.63.18%
JagielkaEverton6.93.14%
ToureMan City8.63.09%
Van PersieMan United102.71%

Man City duo Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure find themselves shipped out by a combined 11.34%, probably due to Cities ‘blank’ fixtures in recent weeks, Oscar has suffered a dip in form which, in combination with bench duties, has led to a mini-exodus, Phil Jagielka has been suffering from an injury and also has a blank fixture this week and so 3.14% have looked elsewhere. Robin van Persie finds himself binned by 2.71% somewhat surprisingly as he’s one of the few big hitting forwards to feature this week, rumors of unrest and a lack of form look the most likely reason.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
AdebayorTottenham7.68.04%
SturridgeLiverpool9.25.65%
HazardChelsea8.83.64%
SterlingLiverpool4.83.50%
TerryChelsea72.86%

Emmanuel Adebayor was undoubtedly the top target this week as he was drafted in as a captain option for Sunday’s fixture vs Cardiff and again features this week. The remaining four players are split between Chelsea and Liverpool – although Liverpool have a blank fixture this week, their assets continue to rise in ownership due their impressive goal tally.

Gameweek 30 Proposed Captain Strategy

A first for Sky this week as a depleted number of fixtures taking place all on the Saturday means we find ourselves restricted to just one captain.

Our Strategy:
Eden Hazard (Tottenham at Home)

So, with only the fixtures on Saturday 8th to ponder, we opt for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard who is currently the second highest scoring midfielder overall, making this a reasonably safe choice – as an added bonus he also features in Gameweek 31 on the Saturday away to Aston Villa. If you fancy a different selection, one of Robin van Persie or Wayne Rooney could be an option as they face up to West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Our own Fantasy Football Scout League is on top of the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch Fenners and Merse at 18:30 Skysports One HD where they will be discussing the previous week’s Fantasy Football events, quizzing former Blackburn midfielder David Dunn and asking him for his #One2Eleven.
