Reports in Thursday’s press have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is out of the weekend trip to Wolves. The striker has been granted permission to return to Argentina to undergo a programme of rehabilitation ahead of the crucial derby clash with United in Gameweek 12, as fears mount concerning the injury sustained against Arsenal on Sunday.

Tevez was always a doubt for the weekend with a muscle injury sustained in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. It is now reported that the injury, initially thought to be a dead leg, could be a more serious setback. A report in the Daily Mail suggests that scans have revealed “severe swelling and internal bleeding around Tevez’s knee and thigh”. The report goes on to claim that the players has been told he will not be able to play for “about two weeks”. That would see Tevez miss the Gameweek 11 fixture with West Brom and remain a doubt for the United game as a result. As yet there is no confirmation of this from official City sources.

The striker’s return to Argentina comes following recent claims, including those of team-mate Roque Santa Cruz, which have stated that Tevez is homesick. It is thought that, in the light of the injury, City have taken steps to quell this issue by allowing the striker to spend time with his family whilst he manages his own return to fitness.

The news will come as a major blow to Tevez owners who have dramatically increased in numbers in recent weeks. Tevez topped the goalscoring charts going into Gameweek 9 and had seen over 200,000 new owners heading into the Arsenal fixture, having scored 5 goals in his previous 4 league starts.

His owners will now have to consider his prospects over the next two to three Gameweeks in the light of this news. Roberto Mancini will likely turn to Emmanuel Adebayor to lead the attack in the absence of his skipper, while Mario Balotelli is also an option having figured from the bench last weekend. Adebayor could now pick up some short-term Fantasy interest but it seems more likely that United’s pairing of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez will see a greater proportion of Tevez funds come their way. Hernandez’ run in the United lineup could well come to an end with Wayne Rooney’s expected return in a fortnight, which may coincide with a return to fitness for Tevez.

The other option than Tevez owners will now be considering is a move towards a cheaper alternative up front which would free up cash to recruit Cesc Fabregas in time for Arsenal’s Emirates clash with West Ham. We can certainly expect to see some major movement in the Fantasy markets in the next 48 hours and I suspect we will see points being spent by those who have already fluttered their Fantasy Premier League wildcards.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but can somebody explain to me how the price protection thing works - why did Fabregas not go up 0.1 last night? It still baffles me.

    What do you think

    Tevez > Berbatov

Lets me do Malouda > Fab

for a 8 point hit, is this worth it or do WC ?

I'm thinking the same sort of thing. Mine would be only a 4 point hit though. Rather get Tevez in for a cheap striker, Elmander or Varney and keep Malouda though.

          Well i have 1.0

If i trade Tevez for Varney. 10.7 traded for a 4.6. Then i get rid of 5.7 Petrov, i have 12.8 in the bank to get Fabregas with a little left over.

I don't know if i want to take a 4 point hit though, and when Tevez is fit i know i'll want him back, which'll be hard to do.

I have taken Tevez out, but only so I could get Fabs in, so with that proviso...

      1) Tevez will be back in 2 weeks
      2) Ade hasn't been a regular starter

Sorry, 2) should say 'Ade hasn't been a regular starter, so may not hold his place when Tevez returns'

        Oh and I can add

        3) Adebayor's form has been a bit suspect in the league

        and

        4) He's a tosser

Tosser issue aside, I'm just not convinced by him...he'll probably go and score a hatful now!

I have taken him out for Varney, and upgraded N'Duz for Fab. Only went for Varney due to cash.

I looked at several ways of getting Fab in, but the Tevez injury made my mind up really. Tevez out Fab in meant fewer points hits and less overall damage to my team.

You may be right, Ade could do well in the next few weeks, esp tomorrow against Wolves, so if you think it's a good idea, I would go for it, certainly a good differential.

the tosser factor is more important- you have to stick to your principles, ade, cashley, gallas all no go areas

Ada!!! He's a complete @$$hole but the guy will be at the spearhead of the attack.

Good aerial abilities combined with great city wingers should mean goals. This is his chance to shine.

I just don't understand why so many people are going for balotelli over ada unless its a financial move.

I'm thinking of jumping in the Ade-roplane this weekend. Amazing differential (yeeech) for the next couple of games before getting back into bed with Daddy Drogba.
