Nacer Chadli bags a brace while Emmanuel Adebayor serves up a goal and assist as Spurs hammer QPR at the Lane. Juan Mata nets for United and Seb Larsson is in the points again for Sunderland, while Bojan Krkic is benched and James Chester sees red as Stoke grab a point at 10-man Hull.

Eriksen Blanks in Spurs Rout
Spurs continued their early-season form with a 4-0 home demolition of QPR yesterday. A double from Nacer Chadli, allied with a pair of assists from Erik Lamela underlines the growing number of midfield options under Mauricio Pochettino, although Christian Eriksen, with over 12% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership, again failed to get amongst the points. Up front, Emmanuel Adebayor continues to get the nod for league matches and a goal and assist from the Togo international suggests he could yet be the standout candidate in the mid-price forwards bracket.

Dier Does it Again
With Kyle Walker still sidelined and Kyle Naughton suspended, the summer signing was shifted to right-back to accommodate Jan Vertonghen at the heart of the Spurs defence yesterday. Dier replicated his goal-scoring exploits of Gameweek 1 by netting once again, and while there’s no doubt the competition for places is heating up at the back, his threat in the box is making it very difficult for Pochettino to leave him out right now. Despite a home encounter with Liverpool next weekend, the bandwagon looks set to continue over the next seven days.

Austin Sidelined with Hamstring Problem
Charlie Austin’s hamstring injury absence allowed Matt Philips to partner Loic Remy up front for the R’s yesterday. Harry Redknapp’s side now have home fixtures against Sunderland and Stoke on either side of a trip to United but with their form has been far from convincing. Austin owners may be tempted by a trade to Steven Naismith – priced at 5.1 to the QPR man’s 6.0, the Scot has picked up a goal and maximum bonus in each of his two appearances thus far and looks poised for continued pitch time – at least until Everton enter the market for new attacking options.

Mata Opens His Account
Sold by over 94,000 FPL managers last week after an opening day blank, the Spaniard picked up the points in United’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland. While Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie toiled up top in a disappointing display by the visitors, Mata’s strike, allied with the maximum bonus points, underlined his potential in the role in “the hole” behind the front two. In spite of an uninspiring display from United, Rooney and Mata owners will likely be persuaded to hold as Louis van Gaal’s side now square up to each of the promoted sides in the next three Gameweeks. Those considering Van Persie may choose to monitor for now, with the Dutchman looking some way short of full sharpness – he failed to register a single attempt on goal before being replaced midway through the second period.

Larsson On the Radar
The Swede provided the equaliser for Jack Rodwell’s strike to maintain his impressive early-season form yesterday. Larsson grabbed a goal and couple of bonus points in last week’s draw at West Brom and has now climbed to fourth in the FPL midfield standings on 14 points. Despite a very kind 5.5 price tag, the Black Cats man currently sits in just 3% of sides right now, but with QPR, Burnley, Swansea and Stoke in the next five, he could be set for further investment.

Chester Sees Red in Tigers Stalemate
Drafted in by almost 130,000 FPL managers on the back of a 15-point return in Gameweek 1, the Hull centre-half is set to miss next week’s trip to Villa. Chester lasted just 13 minutes before being dismissed for a professional foul but, despite playing most of the match with 10 men, the hosts still managed to pick up a draw against Stoke after Nikica Jelavic opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw. Tom Ince retained his spot alongside the Croatian up front although he was forced to drop back into midfield once Chester was dismissed and was eventually replaced on 55 minutes as the Tigers looked to shore things up further. With West Ham, Newcastle and Palace also still to follow in the next five, Ince still remains a viable budget midfield option if Steve Bruce fails to secure new faces before the transfer window closes.

Bojan Benched for Potters
The Spaniard dropped to the bench for Stoke’s first away trip of the season. Owned by over 16% of FPL managers, Bojan was introduced just before the break as Mark Hughes attempted to take advantage of the 10-man Tigers but he failed to make an impact as the Potters struggled to break down the hosts’ rearguard. With Naismith looking increasingly tempting as an alternative, Bojan already looks on borrowed time for a number of Fantasy managers – with a trip to Man City up next, plenty look poised to part company over the next few days.

Are they differentials or just underperformers, hence being in few teams?

Or, a lot of Man City and Liverpool, who haven't played yet. Most top 50 will have few Man City and Liverpool players - their points will have come from elsewhere. Different story after tonight.

        Players left in other words.

I agree. Still a good guide on what average score increase will occur tonight. Sterling scoring well will be a disaster for non owners due to ownership in top 20K for example.

        not clear...

the point is that Aguero can score and assist and would be on pens (if fully fit)...

Costa seems to be mroe of a steady 1 goal a game type of player (like Sturridge)

As for JT, I'm considering Courtois for the WC... Was always going to WC in GW4 as I need to fix defense (Chambers, Caulker) and fringe players (Mutch and Flecther)

    @TM

I told you I would have been happy with 12 points from my remaining 4 players.

2 so far with just Dzeko to go...

10 from 3 here. Rooney should have beat Mata.
You wouldn't have been happy though.

until november when santon is back

be careful because haidara is lurking and a couple of bad games will see dummett dropped

it's his spot to lose though and i bought him today, pardew likes him

Someone posted that Giroud was dropping earlier so I binned him for Dzeko, fearing I could do very little up top with 8.9m.

But he didn't drop. Have I done a whoopsie?

    Interesting Stats!

Edin Dzeko has scored five goals and assisted one more in his last five Premier League appearances.

Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero (115 mins) has the best mins-per-goal rate in Premier League history.

Manchester City have scored exactly two goals in each of their last four Premier League games against Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge has scored 32 goals in 44 league games for Liverpool.

Sturridge (136 mins) has the fifth best minutes-per-goal rate in Premier League history (minimum 50 goals), ahead of former team-mate Luis Suarez (139).

Whilst most have Rooney, Costa and a budget. Aguero, Sturridge and Dzeko could be the way to go.

    Krul Foster
    Terry Chester Naylor PvA Rio
    Hazard Ramsey Sterling Siggy Henderson
    Costa Rooney Bojan

    0.5 in the bank
    1 FT

Thinking about getting Bojan out. Also toted to get Aguero though.

What moves would you do (if any)?

    Cheers.

Change to the price rises have ruined FPL!

Ok, a bit dramatic but I really think these changes will make this game worse and shift the balance of power from the interested player to the casual player. Some people have said its good cos it reduces volatility in the price rises. It’s the price rises that make FPL interesting and a genuine challenge. Its navigating the subtle 0.1m changes that often determine the team you can put together and at what pace. It prohibits simply copying the crowd and encourages individual thinking and anticipation.

Price rises reward those who watch out for changes in tactics, upcoming good fixtures and the impact on a team of new signings. In other words people who predict and anticipate. They act as a barrier to those who just react, who apply a wait and see approach. Smaller price rises mean those who put in the effort aren’t rewarded and will ultimately lead to people acquiring a template team quicker.

For example, last year I was one of many who didn’t get on the Toure or Ramsey bandwagons. By the time I realised that they weren’t flash in the pans I had to significantly change my team when I decided I had to jump on board cos both had risen significantly. This is a good thing. Why should it be easy for me to correct my mistakes and lack of judgement? Some people didn’t get them at all cos they missed the boat. If the system for calculating price rises being used this year applied last year then neithers rises would have been prohibitive and I could have taken them with little cost to myself.

And this year, we have seen huge numbers of transfers for Siggy yet he has only risen by £0.3m. He started the season with ownership of about 7 percent. Its GW2 and already a quarter of the people have him. More importantly, almost every “serious” player will have him. Just look at how template the teams have become already after just 2 game weeks.

Also, it encourages knee jerking. you can now take on board a player for 1 or 2 weeks knowing that even if he does well he wont rise in value as much, so you can ship him out again in the knowledge that you can pick him up again a week or 2 later if you have made a mistake without a significant loss.

    Summary:

    1. It rewards the reactionary player and punishes the insightful player.
    2. Its going to lead to more template teams.
    3. It encourages knee jerks.

If anything knowing encouraged knee-jerks. The amount of people that did Fab to Mata because of the imminent price changes was insane.

As much as you may make some good points, there is no point in complaining about it because there is nothing we can do about it.

Knowing the algorithm applied is a slightly different issue but I get your point.

My point around knee jerking was that I could ditch Mata for Fabregas knowing that I can switch back again with little cost to myself even if one rose and one fell. Imagine if Mata fell by say, 0.2m and Fab rose by 0.3m. Id effectively cost myself a bundle if I decided I wanted to reverse my decision / correct my "mistake"

This will happen a lot now. Long term considerations will give way to short team reactions.

    A) Chambers to Coloccini
    B) DDG to Krul
    C) DDG to Lloris
