Nacer Chadli bags a brace while Emmanuel Adebayor serves up a goal and assist as Spurs hammer QPR at the Lane. Juan Mata nets for United and Seb Larsson is in the points again for Sunderland, while Bojan Krkic is benched and James Chester sees red as Stoke grab a point at 10-man Hull.

Eriksen Blanks in Spurs Rout
Spurs continued their early-season form with a 4-0 home demolition of QPR yesterday. A double from Nacer Chadli, allied with a pair of assists from Erik Lamela underlines the growing number of midfield options under Mauricio Pochettino, although Christian Eriksen, with over 12% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership, again failed to get amongst the points. Up front, Emmanuel Adebayor continues to get the nod for league matches and a goal and assist from the Togo international suggests he could yet be the standout candidate in the mid-price forwards bracket.

Dier Does it Again
With Kyle Walker still sidelined and Kyle Naughton suspended, the summer signing was shifted to right-back to accommodate Jan Vertonghen at the heart of the Spurs defence yesterday. Dier replicated his goal-scoring exploits of Gameweek 1 by netting once again, and while there’s no doubt the competition for places is heating up at the back, his threat in the box is making it very difficult for Pochettino to leave him out right now. Despite a home encounter with Liverpool next weekend, the bandwagon looks set to continue over the next seven days.

Austin Sidelined with Hamstring Problem
Charlie Austin’s hamstring injury absence allowed Matt Philips to partner Loic Remy up front for the R’s yesterday. Harry Redknapp’s side now have home fixtures against Sunderland and Stoke on either side of a trip to United but with their form has been far from convincing. Austin owners may be tempted by a trade to Steven Naismith – priced at 5.1 to the QPR man’s 6.0, the Scot has picked up a goal and maximum bonus in each of his two appearances thus far and looks poised for continued pitch time – at least until Everton enter the market for new attacking options.

Mata Opens His Account
Sold by over 94,000 FPL managers last week after an opening day blank, the Spaniard picked up the points in United’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland. While Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie toiled up top in a disappointing display by the visitors, Mata’s strike, allied with the maximum bonus points, underlined his potential in the role in “the hole” behind the front two. In spite of an uninspiring display from United, Rooney and Mata owners will likely be persuaded to hold as Louis van Gaal’s side now square up to each of the promoted sides in the next three Gameweeks. Those considering Van Persie may choose to monitor for now, with the Dutchman looking some way short of full sharpness – he failed to register a single attempt on goal before being replaced midway through the second period.

Larsson On the Radar
The Swede provided the equaliser for Jack Rodwell’s strike to maintain his impressive early-season form yesterday. Larsson grabbed a goal and couple of bonus points in last week’s draw at West Brom and has now climbed to fourth in the FPL midfield standings on 14 points. Despite a very kind 5.5 price tag, the Black Cats man currently sits in just 3% of sides right now, but with QPR, Burnley, Swansea and Stoke in the next five, he could be set for further investment.

Chester Sees Red in Tigers Stalemate
Drafted in by almost 130,000 FPL managers on the back of a 15-point return in Gameweek 1, the Hull centre-half is set to miss next week’s trip to Villa. Chester lasted just 13 minutes before being dismissed for a professional foul but, despite playing most of the match with 10 men, the hosts still managed to pick up a draw against Stoke after Nikica Jelavic opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw. Tom Ince retained his spot alongside the Croatian up front although he was forced to drop back into midfield once Chester was dismissed and was eventually replaced on 55 minutes as the Tigers looked to shore things up further. With West Ham, Newcastle and Palace also still to follow in the next five, Ince still remains a viable budget midfield option if Steve Bruce fails to secure new faces before the transfer window closes.

Bojan Benched for Potters
The Spaniard dropped to the bench for Stoke’s first away trip of the season. Owned by over 16% of FPL managers, Bojan was introduced just before the break as Mark Hughes attempted to take advantage of the 10-man Tigers but he failed to make an impact as the Potters struggled to break down the hosts’ rearguard. With Naismith looking increasingly tempting as an alternative, Bojan already looks on borrowed time for a number of Fantasy managers – with a trip to Man City up next, plenty look poised to part company over the next few days.

      Awful
Sturridge and Mata playing well, MU with great fixtures
We don't know about Aguero's fitness; Sterling a good pick however.

At least wait until today's game.

I'm not keen on getting rid of Sturridge and mata. Look at Gw4 onwards for Liv's fixtures! I'd look to double up on Liv from then tbh.

Used by two FT's this week to do Arnie ---> Hendo and Ferdinand --> Colo
    Here is my team
    Krul (Bego)
    Colo Cahill, Jones (Clyne Moore)

    Rooney, Costa (Fletcher)

    Krul - Foster

Cahill - Chambers - Naylor - van Aanholt - Wisdom

    Fabregas - Ramsey - Mata - Siggy - Marney

    Rooney - Costa - Dzeko

Unsure where to go this week. Chambers out? Any advice appreciated.

    As posted in the DZ....
Never understood why we have this cat and mouse game with price predictions from third party sites. Why don't FPL provide information on price rises and fallers just as TotalFPL do and look on it as part of "playing the game"..It's just stupid for it to be so cloak and dagger..What's to be gained ?

Playing the transfer market offers the choice of building TV at the expense of a few(?) hits for a stronger second half of the season or, alternatively, playing patiently by ignoring the price fluctuations and an abundance of (-4)'s

Why are FPL so set against providing a "TotalFPL " as part and parcel of the game and including it on their own site ?

    Thoughts ?

Why though ?...It sounds to me like it's something that somebody once decided but nobody knows why anymore..Giving the information adds to the game and doesn't detract in any way at all.

It doesn't though. I've played the hit a week game for chasing value. All you end up doing is buying back the best pick players for inflated prices....Both the patience game and the chasing value game are valid strategies with good and bad aspects...

These sites exacerbate the rises and falls by telling the masses exactly when it's going to happen.
Lots of 0.1 moves last season became 0.2 or 0.3 moves because everyone else lumped on the same night.
Also you have tools playing the stupid team value game making thousands of transfers ignoring points just to have the highest worth team.
Both negatives against fueling these sites with exact data.

A levelling of the playing field perhaps?

To be honest when you can see the transfers in and out you can deduce who will rise and who will drop.

You just don't have the information to wait till the last second to pull the trigger. Price rushed me into transfers I'll be glad if its gone. If I'm priced out by 0.1m I'll find another way.

How does it level the playing field Tony....Patience is the key to this game but many love to go out on a limb and try to beat the system through TV....meanwhile the patient players snigger behind their hands.

It takes the tool of price away which I would imagine the vast majority of users of this site and other top fantasy sites would use price change information and maybe it levels the playing field with the casual.

To be honest I think its irrelevant as I said if its gone no odds to me when have a fair idea of price change by transfers in/out.

          • 13 Years

It does level the playing field.. You are talking about extremes, but the fact is everyone on this site wil make at least one million more than people who don't know about sites like totalfpl. We transfer out people that are going to drop/rise in price on the exact day. Of course sometimes we keep, like I kept Mata but stop pretending.. We can also see who is rising significantly and get a 0.3 rise fast, where casuals can't.

And even if the system is implemented on the FPL site, many casual players won't bother to keep an eye on it. The system should entirely be rid of imo. It adds more competition since some of the casuals will do way better.

I like playing the price game too, but at least I know it's unfair and all. When TotalFPL was down, there was a lot of people on here who said they actually liked it. You have to do some thinking of your own, weighing your options and stuff.

      • 13 Years

No, it should stay a secret. The essence of the game is getting points, not value. Not knowing the price rises makes things more interesting and exciting. You're left in the dark so you have to overthink things more, which is an extra challenge. Now everyone is jumping ship sometimes because of pricedrops and rises.. Mata for example might not even have dropped this week if people didn't see some were dropping him, it created a chain effect. The game is about managing and not making value, irl a manager isn't constantly checking the prices either.

So i need to beef up my midfield a bit so need to sacrifice a forward/a defender
    Team is
    Krulliot
    Terry Debuchy Caulker Chester Hutton
    Eriksen Siggy Ramsey Albrighton DAVIS
    Rooney Sturridge Aguero
    1 million in the bank

    A) Davis to Larsson/Henderson
    B) Terry to Naylor and Davis to Lamela/Tadic (Defense a lil too expensive)
    C) Sturridge to Adebayor and Davis to Sterling
    D) Debuchy to Naylor and Davis to DeJong

*Keeping Sturridge allows me to swap him for Aguero at any point with relative ease.
*Dont mind doubling up on Tot attack for a few weeks before reassessing

Will probably ask this again after the game but i fear i may end up sleeping so would like to formulate a plan now itself 🙂

Really tough one. I'd rate him about 50/50. Ramires is back now and I just have a hard time seeing him NOT starting when fit, he's such a Mourinho player with his work rate and stamina.

    Morning all,

Is there any advantage of using the WC during the International break now that we can't see the price changes? Sure, if your team is ridden with injuries it could be useful but I'd rather have 2 FT's to sort out my team and save the WC for a future DGW for example.

    What would you do?

Assuming you already have siggy young--> any decent 6.0m or 6.5m and then Caulker to a 4.0m or 4.5m.

Mids are Siggy Mata Ram Fab. Already have poor def, looking to keep a 5m def. Guess I have shot myself in the foot really by not catching Young's price drop.

but 16 transfers per half season. Essentially you can play it the same way as sky.

I do not understand why the game doesn't explain how price changes are done. I can't believe they don't receive lots of complaints about it. Anybody know of a genuine reason why its a big secret? I'm guessing they change the process during the season, which in my opinion makes the game very unfair.

Oh and my point about it changing during the season means that it isn't the same for everyone. Depending when people make transfers/play wildcards means they encounter a different type of rises/falls

Do you like the looks of this? Is Dummet nailed on? Newcastle have great fixtures, Dummet is cheap, Caulker is dropping and QPR aren´t convincing defensively! Plus it would allow me to do a striker swap as so:

    Caulker --> Dummet

    Rooney & Bojan --> Dzeko & Adebayor

    Here's a nice question:

Which players do you own that you took a punt/s on, having high hopes, but now wish you'd brought in Prem proven players instead as they haven't done anything?
