The Weekend Team News

Angel di Maria could be set for his United debut this weekend. Bojan Krkic returns to full training after recovering from a knock. James Collins joins the Hammers’ injury list after sustaining a hamstring injury, while Wilfried Zaha could be set to turn out for Palace if his loan deal is sealed in time.

Angel di Maria could be poised for his United debut at Burnley after joining from Real Madrid on Tuesday, though compatriot Marcos Rojo is unlikely to receive a work permit in time. Shinji Kagawa sustained concussion in the cup loss at MK Dons and looks set to miss out, with Louis van Gaal stating United now have 10 injured players as they head to Turf Moor.

Bojan Krkic has returned to full training after missing Stoke’s midweek cup match. Mark Hughes is without Geoff Cameron, though, while fellow right-back Phil Bardsley is a doubt – the summer signing has failed to train all week with a knee problem.

Mikel Arteta and Kieran Gibbs remain sidelined with injury as Arsenal head to Leicester. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that keeper David Ospina in back in full training but is likely to miss out on the clash against Nigel Pearson’s Championship winners.

Sebastien Pocognoli (thigh) is a doubt for West Brom’s trip to Swansea with a thigh problem. Victor Anichebe is expected to recover from a groin complaint, whilst Gareth McAuley, James Morrison and Cristian Gamboa are all in the squad after featuring in the midweek cup clash with Oxford.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins has picked up a hamstring injury and is out of the Hammers’ home match against Southampton, while new boy Diafra Sakho is a doubt with a back problem.

The Saints, meanwhile, have a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with only wide man Lloyd Isgrove, along with long-term absentee Jay Rodriguez, ruled out by Ronald Koeman.

Cheick Tiote remains out for Newcastle’s home encounter with a hamstring problem. Jack Colback has recovered from the knock that saw him miss the Capital One Cup clash with Gillingham and, along with young winger Rolando Aarons, is in the Magpies’ squad.

Harry Redknapp has revealed Charlie Austin – who missed out last week with a hamstring problem – will be assessed again today before deciding whether the frontman can return to training. Alejandro Faurlin is set for an extended period on the sidelines after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the midweek cup loss to Burton Albion.

Wilfried Zaha looks poised for his Palace debut bow at Newcastle after rejoining the club on a season-long loan deal yesterday. Joe Ledley could be set to miss Palace’s trip to Newcastle with the groin problem sustained in the warm-up prior to last week’s loss to West Ham. Scott Dann is in with a chance of recovering from a thigh knock, though.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

    Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Cambiasso to Leicester stirs up some memories of other greats of the game who travelled to the Premier League at or near the twilight of their careers.

    Which have been your favourite veteran legends joining a team? Happy to take egs from outside the Premier League. I remember Jimmy Case's return to Brighton very fondly.

    REPOST....stuck on last article. :S

    I'm in a dilemma. Help guys?

    I'm planning to make 3 transfers over the following 2 weeks (GW3 and GW4), but I'm unsure about the pattern in which I make the transfers.

    1:

    GW3 - Eriksen --> Sterling & Luis --> Clyne (-4)
    GW4: Dzeko ---> Adebayor

    2:
    GW3: Save FT and risk the price rises and falls
    GW4: Eriksen ---> Sterling, Luis ---> Clyne & Dzeko ---> Adebayor (-4)

    Any advice would be appreciated,

        you think Ramsey will bag at Leicester?

        He is in my team but was figuring City at home to Stoke was a good chance for Jovetic

          It's close between Ramsey and Jovetic.. Ramsey has had more shots than any other Arsenal player, and he's fresh from not playing midweek, and Leicester have conceded the most shots so far.

          But Jovetic is playing like the guy that got like 15+ goals in Serie A and Stoke have been woeful.

            That's my dilemma, Ramsey has the bonus as well that if Arsenal play Sanchez up top Ramsey might see more of the ball on the edge and in the box. But if Jovetic starts and played like he did last week then he has a great chance of getting a few against Stoke. Going to have to decide which one to gamble on need a good week from my captain this week.

              I know the feeling..

              Another bonus is that Ramsey is a bonus point darling..

              It all depends on which Jovetic shows up. He's the riskier choice but has a higher ceiling.

      Hutton, Ivan, Caulker and Kolarov.

      If you HAVE to bench one of them, bench hutton.

      If I were you I'd captain Kolarov.

    Am I in la-la land if I take a -4 hit by taking out Terry & bringing in Ivanovic. Someone posted earlier that he expected plenty of goals v Everton. If this scenario plays out I expect Ivanovic to be somehow involved. I realise Terry is no mug himself but Ivanovic is on fire atm. This decision has been nagging at me all week but I feel compelled to do it. Ivanovic to go BOOM.

    Am I on to something or will it back-fire.

    hey guys just wanted your thoughts on when to use the wildcard, cause i want to use it now but i think i should save it for the future? What should i do?

    If i do use it, should i go for lamela and jovetic or adebayor and tadic?

    1. RabMac

      Play it on Saturday as its pointless now as you missed all the price rises.

        sorry this is my first season and I'm still learning the rules and stuff, will the price rise on saturday?

        i was thinking of using the wildcard because my defence is weak and i have diego costa in my lineup which may or may not play on the weekend.

          • 10 Years

          Prises can rise any day but usually happen at start and end of the week. As you missed price rises at start of week you are best to play it on Saturday and try and add value to your team before deciding on your final team at the end of the game week.

              Lamela, Jovetic and Adebayor are all good choices but I am not convinced with Southampton's attacking prowess but they do have nice fixtures.

                  At the minute I think he is going to start for a number of reasons.

                  1, Aguero is being nursed back from injury and may even be injured again.

                  2. Dzeko was subbed for Aguero at the weekend.

                  3, Jovetic is performing better than Dzeko at the minute.

          Granted it is not an exact science but with a bit more work, an element of luck and a little guess work, you can still have an idea of who will rise if you monitor things closely.

              Yep apparently Monk was saying that "we can play more than one way, with 2 up front as well" or something like that, but I still feel that Siggy can still perform to a good standard so long as he's on the pitch, he's the playmaker for the team in the final third.
