With the somewhat uneventful Gameweek 15 behind us, we raise our spirits for an enticing double Gameweek ahead in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game. As always, we cast an eye over the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and current market trends before taking a look at the Scout team and our plans for Gameweek 16.

Gameweek 15 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Chelsea vs West BromEden Hazard
Everton vs West HamLeon Osman
Leicester vs SunderlandCostel Pantilimon
Man City vs SwanseaYaya Toure
Newcastle vs QPRMoussa Sissoko
Stoke vs BurnleyDanny Ings
Arsenal vs Man UnitedDavid de Gea
Crystal Palace vs LiverpoolYannick Bolasie
Hull vs TottenhamChristian Eriksen
Aston Villa vs SouthamptonGabriel Agbonlahor

Eden Hazard has now picked up two MoTM awards in a row, taking his total to four. The Chelsea winger has collected the most awards overall, an accolade he earned last season alongside Wayne Rooney and the departed Luis Suarez, all with nine. Yaya Toure (seven) and Yannick Bolasie (six) were also up here last year for MoTM awards and have really come into form in recent outings, so I expect them to continue to catch the eye of the Sky reporters. Danny Ings (7m) has stepped his performances up in recent weeks, too, and presents a great budget forward option ahead of the double, with two great home ties against Villa and Newcastle.

Gameweek 15 Bonus Points

Five goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves. David de Gea was one of those and his MoTM performance at Arsenal earned him a respectable eight points for his owners. Robert Green still leads the way for keepers with 12 bonus points.

In defence, 15 players grabbed bonus, nine for tackles and six for passes completed – Pablo Zabaleta came closest to earning both missing out by 11 completed passes. Centre-back Dejan Lovren is – somewhat surprisingly – the top performing defender in terms of bonus, with 14 additional points so far.

In midfield there were 15 beneficiaries in total: three for tackling and 12 for passes. Budget 3.8m option Ryan Mason was closest to earning both, missing out by just one challenge. Morgan Schneiderlin is still bossing the bonus points overall with 28 extra points.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

It’s been a strange transfer market across the Fantasy games this week, with Sky no exception. Four of the top five drafted in players are from Southampton, which looks to be a real show of faith considering their upcoming fixtures – perhaps last Monday night’s match at Villa had an impact as Fantasy managers went for the three captain strategy.

From the players most transferred out list, only Leighton Baines and Stewart Downing go into this week as doubts. Morgan Schneiderlin and Cesc Fabregas both recovered from injury to start last week, though Raheem Sterling’s poor form makes the Liverpool midfielder victim of a tactical reshuffle.

Notes

Eden Hazard came to the rescue with his passing bonus, goal and MoTM earning me 14 points. As for the rest, they managed a shocking 28 between them, including two captains. My only planned transfer for this week is Dusan Tadic to Gylfi Sigurdsson as the fixtures shift in Swansea’s favour, the rest of the team looks reasonable, although Stewart Downing’s injury status and Raheem Sterling’s form are my main concerns, I’ll stick by them though for now and try to conserve transfers as I have gone beyond my planned quota.

Captain plan
For Saturday I’m locked into Raheem Sterling and will have to pray he delivers at home to Stoke. My plan then is to not switch for Sunday’s matches but instead to keep the armband on Sterling for Liverpool’s trip to Leicester on Tuesday evening. I’ll then swap my captain and give the captaincy to one of Diego Costa or Sergio Aguero on Wednesday – in addition, both of them play on the Saturday in Gameweek 17, so I’ll make a gut decision closer to the time.

A side note, if you’re looking to score yourself some big points this week and you have the trades to do it, you could opt for four captains over the double by transferring in a new captain each match day.

Another tip would be to draft in Wayne Rooney as your captain for his two home encounters if you have that luxury available to you. He’s in great form and Sky love to award him with the MoTM award, meaning even a small point return can turn into a decent haul.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and were currently toping the Private League rankings as per usual. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch Fenners and Merse at 18:30 SkySports One HD where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, quizzing former Leeds defender Gary Kelly and asking England legend Sir Geoff Hurst for his #One2Eleven.

Saw someone further up suggesting getting rid of Chambers. This is my thinking...

Away to wba - very decent chance of a cleanie
Home to Southampton - previous club, could up his game and a reasonable chance of CS
Has Newcastle and QPR at home in GWs 16 and 18.

He's also cheap if you brought him in at 4.5-4.6 so a price that can justify being benched for the odd game and you don't get much bang for your buck if you sell.

It's not that you want to sell him. You're gonna have to sell when Debuchy comes back.

    "By Hugh Southon
Diafra Sakho’s back injury was sensationally caused by a Senegal physio whilst the player was under treatment at the international training camp.
ClaretandHugh has discovered the extraordinary truth of our top scorer’s back problem which has stunned the Irons backroom staff
There is real fury inside Upton Park about the injury which unbelievably came about on the treatment table and left the Irons goal machine in agony.
Sakho was suffering from a very mild back problem and his back was pulled by an over energetic physio plunging the player into pain and enusring a 4-6 week absence from action for the Hammers.
One source close to the situation declated that what had gone on was beyond belief and that there was real anger inside the club.
And the result is that the Hammers will in future be sending their own physio with the Senegal players on all future international trips including the African Nations Cup"

Hopes high for "key man" start ...

Mauro Zarate is in line to take up the No 10 role alongside Andy Carroll in the Newcastle game.

Zarate looked in outstanding form until the last 20 minutes at Everton last week when his game suffered from the team long in the last 20 minutes as they chased the game.

But with Stewart Downing tipped to return from injury we understand that manager Sam Allardyce is looking to the Hammers schemer to set up the Argentian as well as believing he could feed well off Carroll.

The record signing was keen to sing Zarate’s praises after the Everton game calling him a ‘match changer’ with great feet and ability.

A source told us: “That seems to be the way it’s leaning and most people are hoping to Mauro get a start.

“He showed last week how bright he can be and the team needs to continue with the pattern of play that has proved successful so far.Zarate could be the key man in ensuring that happens.

“It would be a massive disappointment to most if for example we go the same way as last week when we started with the two big men as that clearly failed.”

The one thing that irks me about English football, injury secrecy and horrible estimates of how long they'll be sidelined. Also, they don't always make scan results public and take way too long to make announcements about player fitness.

Rojo returning could be big. Gives us a proper back four.
