The Fantasy Football Scout Mondogoal squad missed out on prize money for the first time in three weeks last weekend – all the more reason for us to get back in the saddle for the midweek programme.

Mondogoal is a daily and weekly Fantasy Football game – a brand new offering for this season. It not only allows you to play contests based on the Premier League but also all the major top-flight leagues – Serie A, La Liga, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Major League Soccer (MLS). You can even play global contests that span across all the leagues. Mondogoal also supports contests for Champions League and Europa League in midweek.

Mondogoal is still offering all new users that sign up through Fantasy Football Scout a 200% bonus on their first deposit (max £500 in bonus money). Bonus is awarded as a 4% cash back on every game you play.

What’s more, Mondogoal also have four featured contests this week with an array of prizes on offer, along with their usual fill of head-to-head match-ups and cash tournaments.

If you want more details on how to play the game, we’ve previously published a comprehensive strategy guide, offering tips to help you get started. Read on for our analysis of the midweek fixture list and the likely targets for our lineup….

Tuesday’s Picks

Six Premier League matches present a suitable spread of Fantasy assets to feed our lineups, although the first two encounters look best avoided.

Burnley are, once again, an unlikely source of talent for their home clash with Newcastle. Danny Ings (10.5m) notched an impressive 15.4 point return against Villa and remains a viable target for our front lines. Other than that, Kieran Trippier (7.7m) is a candidate for our defence with a 6.31 Mondogoal average to this point but I think the Magpies are likely to notch at Turf Moor in an encounter that looks difficult to predict. I’m steering clear.

Leicester’s clash with Liverpool is equally sparse on targets. Brendan Rodgers shuffled his pack for the home win over Stoke and that could well reveal some bargains if you’re willing to take a punt or two. Rickie Lambert, with two goals and an assist in his last three outings, looks an option at 9.7 million, while Raheem Sterling’s barren run of scoring has dropped him to just 8.6 million. If you’re backing another Reds shutout, then Kolo Toure could be worth a look at 6.7 million, although he’s far from certain of holding off Dejan Lovren (7.2m) for another start.

United look worthy of backing at both ends of the pitch. Stoke pay visit to Old Trafford and Louis van Gaal’s side should be good for a few goals with a potential shut-out. Chris Smalling, at 7.3 million, is the best value to be had in defence, whilst for 11.7 million, you can back Robin van Persie to continue his ascent after his strike against Hull City. Wayne Rooney, at 14.4 million, looks a little steep by comparison.

Swansea may have been held by Crystal Palace at the weekend but they look home bankers against Harry Redknapp’s QPR. The Loftus Road outfit are shipping goals and in Gylfi Sigurdsson (12.5m) and Wilfried Bony (12.8m) they are up against an architect and executioner in prime form – I’d expect to find that pair in most midweek Mondogoal lineups. Jefferson Montero, at 6.3 million, is again the value option in the Swans’ midfield. Kyle Bartley (5.5m) is also worth backing if you feel that Garry Monk’s side can keep Charlie Austin (13.3m) quiet – that’s far from certain.

Yannick Bolasie, at just 6.5 million for Palace at home to the injury-ravaged Villa defence, wins the award for the no-brainer selection. His pace and power will surely be key in the Selhurst Park encounter and the value he offers to our midfields is hard to ignore, given his current form. It might also be worth considering the Eagles backline against a Villa lineup struggling for a cutting edge – Martin Kelly can be acquired for just 5.5 million, while Julian Speroni looks an option in goal for 5.7 million. As for Villa, they are given hope by Christian Benteke’s return and, at just 6.6 million, he looks tempting despite the fact that he goes into tonight’s encounter with no form to speak of.

Alan Irvine will be looking to halt West Brom’s run of three straight defeats without a goal when they face West Ham at the Hawthorns. The Hammers arrive fresh from ending Newcastle’s six-match run of victories and will be in no mood to grant the Baggies favours. The home side boast few assets that warrant our attention, unless you’re willing to gamble on Saido Berahino’s (9.2m) return to form. I don’t see too many goals in this one, although Andy Carroll, at 7.2 million, could be worth a flutter. Stewart Downing, always a creative influence, can be acquired for 11 million but that seems steep for a midweek fixture that appears to offer few goals. In defence, Aaron Creswell (9.3m) might represent better value given West Brom’s dry run and the left-back’s winner against the Magpies.

Wednesday’s Picks

Arsenal’s clash with Southampton at the Emirates puts both sides at a crossroads. The Gunners will be looking to maintain momentum after the 1-0 win at the Hawthorns, while the Saints are attempting to banish memories of the humbling 3-0 home reverse at the hands of champions City. Alexis Sanchez, even at 15.1 million, has to be strongly backed again in this one, although I’m also keen on the value being offered by Olivier Giroud at 9.8 million. The Gunners’ defence may well be worth endorsing now that Laurent Koscielny (8.9m) has returned but with injuries at full-back, the teamsheet looks hard to call. In current form, I’d avoid Southampton’s assets and wait for the Mondogoal prices to drop ahead of their St Mary’s meeting with United on Monday.

The Chelsea vs Spurs London derby is made all the more intriguing by Diego Costa’s absence and the Tottenham mini-revival. It’s hard to ignore Jose Mourinho’s attacking midfield trio, although with a huge 17.7 price tag, Eden Hazard could be out of reach for some. Oscar, at 11.3 million, looks far better value once again. While I’d normally back the Chelsea defence via Branislav Ivanovic, I fancy the visitors to nick a goal – Christian Eriksen looks a decent option at 11.2 million given his recent displays that have brought 9.7 and 16.35 points respectively.

Everton’s Goodison meeting with Hull City has to be a major source of talent for our lineup. With 9.42 points per game, Leighton Baines (13.1m) looks a certainty for our defence, given Hull’s current plight of four straight defeats. I’m also tempted to double up and recruit Seamus Coleman (9.8m) here. Further forward, Kevin Mirallas (11.6m) has form in midfield but could have his minutes culled, so I feel that Romelu Lukaku offers better value in attack for a modest 10.5 million.

City’s will be looking to go one better than Chelsea when they pay visit to the Stadium of Light and Sergio Aguero is almost certain to be the key figure on show once again. The 19.2 million price tag is debilitating, however, with Yaya Toure (13.9) presenting stronger value. Indeed, for a punt, I’d be tempted to back Frank Lampard for a start after his strike from the bench at St Mary’s – at just 7.4 million, he could just prove a key differential in the Gameweek. City have injuries at the back but are still capable of keeping the Black Cats at bay – Martin Demichelis looks certain of a start and presents an option at 6.6 million.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Good to go?

    Begovic
    Baines Chambers Hutton
    Sanchez Hazard Siggy Downing
    Aguero Rooney (c) Austin

    Subs: Gilks Boyd Betrand Chester
    1FT, 0.1 ITB

Thinking if everyone is ok in tonight's lineups I might do Bego > Foster. Sound ok?

Any reasoning behind Rooney (c) ahead of Kun, Sanchez, Hazard, Baines, Siggy?

Generally prefer to captain a striker. Simply the fact that Rooney is at home and Aguero away.

Everyone is emphasising that City struggle to score away to Sunderland, but didn't Aguero miss a load of great chances against them last season? I'm sure he'll get chances, and I'm sure he won't be as wasteful this time.

i think i read earlier that city have amassed 80 odd shot on goal in those four games so yeah, it's not like they're not creating.
