A tearful Jimmy Bullard left the Villa Park pitch today, facing up to another potential layoff after suffering another knee injury. Hull’s talismanic midfielder was helped from the field after just 18 minutes of the 3-0 defeat after falling awkwardly.

Hull City will get a prognosis in the next 48 hours according to the club with Hull boss keen not to comment on the situation until scans are carried out. Brown did however stress that the injury had not been sustained to the knee that had very recently kept Bullard out of action for eight months. However, there are already reports suggesting that the midfielder has suffered medial ligament damage, with another lengthy spell on the sidelines looking likely…

Bullard’s has been outstanding since his return from long-term injury, prompting him to win the Player of the Month award in November. He returned two goals and two assists in his previous three starts prior to today. This form earned him renewed recognition from fantasy managers. He enjoyed a Fantasy Premier League price rise in gameweek 14, with over 60,000 transfers in from gamweeks 13-15. Those figures are likely to be turned on their head in the next few days should another long-term injury be confirmed. That would be a cruel, cruel blow to player and club.
