A busy Saturday on the tightrope saw plenty of jostling for position in the rogues gallery with yellow cards for a number of familiar faces, and a significant red for long term Fantasy favourite, Yakubu.

Now into his tenth season in English football, the portly Nigerian has been as much a constant in the goalscoring charts as he has been absent from the disciplinary ones. However, guilty of planting a full set of studs on Danny Murphy’s knee in the 3-1 win over Fulham, ‘The Yak’ duly picked up his first Premier League red and will now sit out the next three Gameweeks (eve, NEW, ars).

In the yellow card stakes, Yakubu’s teammate Jason Lowe still leads the way having picked up 8 cautions in his first 19 games for the club, but with 3 games in the New Year now completed without adding to that tally he’s seen John Terry last week, and now Lee Cattermole draw level with him, following his booking in the 1-0 loss at Chelsea. All three now sit just 2 cards away from a two-match ban.

Yellow cards also for Everton’s Marouane Fellaini and Wolves’ Karl Henry bring them into the mix forming a fearsome quartet with Joey Barton and Gary Caldwell on 7 yellows for the season, while new faces joining the growing band on 6 bookings were Chelsea pair, David Luiz and Raul Meireles and the Stoke captain, Ryan Shawcross.

GAMEWEEK 22 BANS

  • Yakubu Aiyegbeni (BLA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (first of 3 matches)
  • Luis Suàrez (LIV) – FA charge (fifth of 8 matches)
  • Vincent Kompany (MCI) – 1 Red for serious foul play (third of 4 matches)

Both are likely to be checked again...the first looked to have got a touch from Welbeck on the way through to Scholes, the second may well have been Wheater's touch rather than Rooney's. I've checked carefully and they both look very shaky but, it's up to the Press Association to judge I guess.

Along with most i'm hoping they stay! The first to me looks like it is Rooney's the second is too hard to tell

Opta have given one assist to Rooney - so it looks pretty certain that one will drop. To my mind, Welbeck gets a slightest touch on the first one.

Do you know when it is reviewed and amended, I hate the uncertainty and with Rooney (c) that 12 point loss will hurt

Mark, have OPTA given an assist to Welbeck or have they taken one off Rooney for the Wheater touch?

          don't fool yourself 😀
2nd one was from the defender and first one was indeed of Welbeck.

BTW I remember Hernandez did not get one assist though he had a touch. (It was given to Gibson)

Yeah i watched the first one in high defination and Welbeck got a clear touch on it. 2nd one if you see closely, Rooney missed it completely and it was Wheater's through ball.

It doesn't make me happy! I was debating all morning on my wildcard Rooney/Aguero and Sturridge/Yak looking like I may have made the wrong choice on both now!

i just email to ask them to reivew both of assists.
first one maybe is Rooney assist.
but the second one, Bolton defender had last touch outside the box clearly before Welbeck got the ball. i'm not sure the rule now but Wheater is the last person touched the ball is 100%.

but last week, Fulham defender also touched the ball outside the box but Ramsey still got that assist. so Rooney?

Oh, good for you. Go to the trouble of sending an email to try and get points taken off a player that you don't have and lots of others do. Let's hope you're just as quick to fire off an email and ask them to review any future 50/50 assists from a player you own. 🙄

I used to lose assist and bonus of RVP --> Gervinho, Aguero --> Balotelli.
Maybe that will make someone here sad, but in my mini league (a pure Manchester United fan forum league), they all have Rooney instead of RVP. so hoping that happen. I'm sorry 😀

You lost the RVP assist? Along with half the players here, including me. That's no justification to try and get another similar decision made against other players. Did you email them about the RVP one? Bet you didn't...

oh boo hoo. If everyone else in your mini league loses an assist, then thats like you gaining the assist. surely you would mail if you had welbeck? well its the same thing.

Looks pretty solid to me, except for lack of ManU attack, but I suppose given their fixtures wont hurt, although you may want to get Valencia or Nani in at some stage.

You may also want to have someone other than BAE for now, you're going to struggle to put out 3 defenders next week!

    I had;
    - one player definately out
    - two players were doubtful
    - two were playing against Man City away
    - one was playing against Spurs
    - two were playing against Manu
    - two were playing against Arsenal
    - my whole defense were playing away from home
    - Sessegnon was rising.....

    What do you guys think?

As a fellow Rooney(c) what are your opinions? I watched/paused/went frame by frame and I am not convinced Wellbeck got a touch. 2nd one I haven't seen.

Qualifying scores so far this week.

    20% League = 24
    Millionaire Club = 23-24(no hits), 27-28(1 hit) & 30-31(2 hits)

Plenty in trouble including me due to Mr Rooney losing an assist or two. 🙁
