Roberto Di Matteo rules David Luiz and Gary Cahill out of Chelsea’s home clash with Newcastle tomorrow. Danny Welbeck could be a doubt for United due to an ankle problem, Matt Jarvis expects to overcome a groin problem for Wolves’ home game with Everton, while Newcastle welcome back Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveuax to the first-team squad ahead of their trip to the Bridge:

David Luiz and Gary Cahill have both been ruled out of Chelsea’s game with Newcastle tomorrow evening. Roberto Di Matteo confirmed the defensive duo will be missing from the Magpies clash, though with Branislav Ivanovic available after a three-game suspension, his options at the back have increased from Sunday’s squad against QPR. Ivanovic is likely to partner John Terry in the heart of defence against Alan Pardew’s visitors, with Jose Bosingwa perhaps favourite to get the nod over Paulo Ferreira at right-back. Although reports earlier today suggested Luiz is on course to recover in time for Saturday’s FA Cup Final with Liverpool, the interim Chelsea boss gave no indication of a time scale for a return.

Reports suggest Danny Welbeck could be an injury doubt for United after leaving Old Trafford with a protective boot on his ankle last night. Welbeck was in decent form heading into the City match, with two goals and a pair of assists in his last couple of Gameweeks but dropped out of the starting lineup as a result of United’s change to a 4-5-1. Climbing off the bench with just over half an hour left, he was subject to a heavy challenge by Nigel De Jong, resulting in Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini squaring up on the Etihad touchline – with United needs goals on Sunday, Javier Hernandez could be a decent differential as Swansea roll up to Old Trafford.

Matt Jarvis expects to overcome the groin problem that forced him off at Swansea last weekend. The Wolves winger lasted 71 minutes at the Liberty, returning two goals and the maximum bonus points for his Fantasy owners and continues to be the main performer for the midlands outfit under Terry Connor, having scored five of the side’s 10 goals since the dismissal of Mick McCarthy. With Wolves grabbing four at Swansea last weekend, it seems as if caution has been thrown firmly to the wind and, with their final home game of the season against Everton followed by a trip to Wigan, Jarvis has the potential to continue his recent strong form.

Gabriel Obertan has declared himself fit and available for Newcastle’s trip to Chelsea tomorrow evening. The winger has failed to feature since Gameweek 28 due to an ankle problem but is likely to be on the bench as Newcastle look to bounce back from their 4-0 thrashing at Wigan last weekend. Sylvain Marveaux is likely to join him – the Frenchman has recovered from hip and groin problems which have ruled him out since November.

Ambitions to win Mickey Mouse cups while finishing in 8th or 9th behind fullham, everton , newcastle, and possibly West Brom. Can it really get any worse? Would love to see them get destroyed today and in the FA Cup final to Chelsea.

                Natas says:

Not saying that, but since March 7th, LFC has given up 16 pts to sun, qpr, wig, new, villa, and west brom: Those 16 would have put them in 4th right now with a win today putting them in 3rd. At some point, you just have to put out your best team and win games. What happens when the lose the FA Cup Final to Chelski. Then do you rest your players for league game vs chelsea because you want to save them for a strong finish on the last gameweek to end the season with a bang. I understand resting players, but hell, have some ambition by keeping your 2 best at least on the bench. IF you are down and give them 20 minutes if losing, it would still be just a 20 min training session for them.

Not just now, but for a long time. All I have heard in past months from Dalglish is about cups. While Glen Johnson is quoted months ago saying ‘If LFC doesnt qualify for champions, then season is a failure regardless of cups’ , all you heard out of Dalglish is cup this cup that. I guess it makes sense though, cups are great for teams that dont believe that they can finish top 5 and want European Football.

That Liverpool Bench is pathetic. Its Dalglish way of saying, ” We will probably be down at the break, and I dont want to be tempted to bring in my best players for second half.” Also a way to put pressure on starting 11 by saying there is nobody on the bench that can save you.

I think its interesting really. If the alphabet has 26 letters, then there are 25 degrees of freedom, so there isnt really a need to use any one letter except as a positional value within the word. We can use a space instead of it, which would be strange as it may confuse whether it is meant as that letter or as a space instead. We can though use a different character like a tripple lined equal to represent it.

I cant stand writing the letter q so I think it would be a great candidate.

      ReinaMan says:

Just so you know the rule on this was loosened

“The clubs voted at the last Premier League Annual General Meeting to modify the rule regarding clubs fielding full strength teams. From 2011/12 onwards the rule will allow any combination of players included in a club’s 25-man squad list to be selected for a Premier League fixture.
The 25-man squad rules do allow clubs to pick Under-21 players beyond those named in their squad list and, with this in mind, it was agreed by the clubs that it was appropriate for the rule to remain in place in order to ensure the integrity of the competition”
