The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 3

Filed under: Betting - Posted by: Money Mike

We got quite a lot of buck for our bang last week as Michu’s deft touch beyond the grasp of Hammers’ keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen helped secure our 15/2 wager with Paddy. A cool £34 better off , we’ll have a few weeks of free stakes before we have to dip back into the Flutter fund at least… but we’re here to earn, not to fritter…

The first of this week’s money makers is Hatem Ben Arfa. Rested for Newcastle’s midweek Europa league fixture, Ben Arfa delivered the goods in the opening game of the season against Spurs and will be looking to take advantage of Aston Villa’s miserable run of results this weekend. Stepping up and calmly slotting a pen passed Brad Friedel on the opening day, Alan Pardew might well have him take more of the dead ball opportunities, further increasing his probability to make the score-sheet. Paddy are offering 5/1 for a Ben Arfa goal and a Toon clean-sheet, which we’ll be confidently taking a fiver on.

Carlos Tevez has moved firmly into the focus for many Fantasy managers with fellow Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero laid up. A slimline tonic for City so far this season, Tevez’ trickery is slicing through defences, and he looks equally impressive in black and white of the stats. His near guaranteed pitch time and we’re struggling to see QPR to keeping him out, making 9/2 for him making a brace and City to get a cleanie a worthy punt. Mark Hughes’ outfit seem to be bringing in players from all over Europe, their intent for a top half of the table finish is clear. It may well be too early for them to gel, but the risk caps our bet to only £2 on Tevez.

Last but not least we take a look at former Bolton and Newcastle favourite, Kevin Nolan. Although his goal in the opening fixture was not one for the scrapbook, his solid contribution going forward from midfield certainly justifies his bargain Fantasy price. With Fulham’s star player Moussa Dembele now a resident at White Hart Lane, the could be short on stern tackling and midfield control, giving Nolan a chance to harass in the box. Paddy suspect Fulham will make a respectable showing – pricing a Nolan goal and a Hammers clean-sheet at 12/1 – we’re more than willing to risk our remaining £3 on that.
