Signed in the transfer window, both Steven Fletcher and Dimitar Berbatov have wasted little time in acclimatising at their new clubs, turning the heads of Fantasy managers.

Placed snugly in the mid-price bracket, they both look to offer strong solutions to the third striker slot in our squads with other places reserved for expensive heavy-hitters. In that scenario, many Fantasy managers have been forced to choose from these two players – both take form, decent fixtures and almost identical price tags into the coming months.

In this latest article for our Members, we look beyond the goals and points notched so far, exploring the numbers behind their performances in an attempt to offer a solution to this particular selection dilemma.

Can anyone who knows a thing about cricket offer an opinion on how the Bangladesh v New Zealand game will go? A close game or easy win for NZ?

Close game I feel as NZ bowlers are not that great… It will probably be a high scoring match with Bangladesh just losing if it is a good pitch…

Hmm know nothing about cricket myself, was just looking for an easy way to make a bit of money. Think I’ll stay away from it, 2/5 doesn’t seem a great price if a close game is a possibility. Thanks for the advice!

I think the point is that if you are considering playing a £4.5m player with a more difficult fixture over a £5m player with a good fixture, why do you own the £5m player at all? If you’re not going to play him this week, why did you buy him?

wow you are actually trying to defend your first comment? Surely you must know your logic is entirely flawed.

Is it impossible that the £4.5m player may just be better than the £5m player? Do the people at FPL just not make mistakes?

Plus there are plenty of reasons why i or anyone else may own a £5m player. How about the simple fact that it allows me a more expensive (regular) first XI?

That is true, but having gone for Maloney over any 4.5 midfielder you have to have some intention of playing him when it comes down to it. Hence, Fulham at home is a good place to start. I am playing him. He’s getting AT LEAST 4 goals and a couple of assists, you heard it here first!

I wouldn’t consider him to be one of the prime candidates, no. His stats suggest he won’t keep scoring at the same rate he has done so far this seson – 10 goal attempts, 5 on target, which suggests that he will have to start hitting the target more often in order to keep up his scoring rate.

      if anyone else is interesed:

“My thoughts on three widely talked about potential captains this week. Projections are a combination of previous stats for player, team and fixture and are a combination of my own and FFS projections. The projections based on the player playing 90 minutes.

Tevez – projected to score around 5 points. Should get 60+ minutes as I believe Dzeko and Balotelli will play 2 days later in the league cup and Aguero is the only real threat.

Hazard – projected to score around 5.5 points. Considerable rotation risk and might not get enough minutes to justify the armband if RDM decides that Hazard isn’t essential for this game or wants to freshen up his line-up with one of the many players itching for a game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him coming on as a sub or being taken off early, but I predict he’ll get 60+ minutes.

RVP – projected to score around 4.5 points. I predict he will get a good amount of game-time unless Rooney is fit to start.

My personal conclusion – Tevez (c)”

Right then, 1FT anyone think ditching Tevez for Ba is a good idea.

Will free up a few funds and I can’t get past NOR & rea next 2 weeks. Will then give me a chance to upgrade Guthrie at some point cos from what I saw last week he could play in the hole all season and still get 2 points p/w.

I am a gooner and not sure if I only want to do it cos Tevez has got us this week.
