The Stock Check – Gameweek 6 – Saturday – Part Two
Filed under: The Stock Check - Posted by: Paul
Spurs win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989 as Andre Villas-Boas’ side triumph in the game of the season so far. Gareth Bale is the main protagonist for the Londoners, as United’s defensive frailties are exposed yet again:
Going Up
Gareth Bale
In a Gameweek where many of the popular midfield picks failed to produce the goods, the Welshman continued his return to form with a goal and pair of assists at Old Trafford. With a home clash against Villa up next, Bale can expect to pick up plenty of interest over the next few days.
Jan Vertonghen
Having found his eye for goal in the midweek Capital One Cup win at Carlisle, Vertonghen notched his first league goal of the campaign as Andre Villas-Boas’ side won for the third Gameweek in a row. With (AVL, sot, WIG) amongst his next four fixtures, the potential for point looks good for the Belgian at both ends of the pitch.
Clint Dempsey
Picked ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson for the role in “the hole”, the US international vindicated his manager’s decision with his first goal of the season. Dempsey – who has a mere 2% ownership in FPL – could be a real differential pick over the next few games, with a starting berth in the Spurs XI now seemingly assured.
Wayne Rooney
Sent on for Ryan Giggs after the break, Rooney was forced to take up a wider position, with Shinji Kagawa keeping the role behind Robin Van Persie. He made an immediate impact, setting up Nani for United’s first, and with a free-kick hitting the woodwork, he’s offering a real alternative to the Dutchman up top as we look to freshen up our Fantasy squads.
Going Down
United Defence
Once again, the Red Devils failed to keep out their opponents at the back. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have conceded in all but one of their six fixtures so far – with trips to Newcastle and Chelsea in the next four, in addition to a home clash against Arsenal, sales of their defenders look likely to pick up.
Robin Van Persie
Normally, an assist isn’t too bad for a day’s work. The Dutchman has still managed to produce attacking returns in all of his starts this term but with the likes of Nikica Jelavic, Luis Suarez and Demba Ba all racking up the goals earlier today, and with Rooney now back for United, many may be tempted to look for alternatives to the 13.5 priced Dutchman.

For sure. He will probably seek another loan move. It's in the interests of his development. »

Yaya and Cuellar out for Bale and Gorkss ? That will be -8 hit
Already brought Suarez in for Tevez last nigt

TheSportsGuy - you say cabay I say hello says:
No
September 30 at 9:01 am
aree036 says:
not quite worth it. especially considering M.C have Sunderland at home
September 30 at 9:00 am
aree036 says:
unless you will captain bale. then maybe. im struggling with a similar problem.
September 30 at 8:58 am
ROBIN TO THE RESCUE says:
best 5th mid in the game right now……
sterling,maloney,…………..
currently have noble…………….which turned ou to be a complete disaster (0.2 price drop) and no points till now….
September 30 at 9:00 am
aree036 says:
i have malone and want to swap for sterling. maybe the grass is just always greener or maybe sterling will explode in next two fixtures.
September 30 at 9:04 am
Old School says:
I’m going Noble to Sterling myself
September 30 at 8:59 am

Is the FF website down?

He will play.
September 30 at 9:01 am
Giggs Boson - Gw6: The Battle for Jenna-Louise Coleman says:
I’m warming to the ‘no-RVP’ idea. It would allow me a front 8 of:
Bale Hazard Silva Cazorla Guthrie
Suarez Ba Lambert
with cash to spare!
September 30 at 9:03 am
Pratik says:
That’s way too expensive even without RVP……Your defense would be kinda crap.
September 30 at 9:12 am
Giggs Boson - Gw6: The Battle for Jenna-Louise Coleman says:
I haven’t touched my defence. I literally just did RVP->Ba and changed the mids!!
September 30 at 9:28 am
Pratik says:
Wow then, also do Guthrie->Sterling
September 30 at 9:03 am
Berbilly Gilmore - Nuevo Gerente del Betis says:
So you won the battle did you?
September 30 at 9:15 am
Giggs Boson - Gw6: The Battle for Jenna-Louise Coleman says:
Pretty much
September 30 at 9:04 am
Spencer says:
I’m thinking of something similar.
But that would mean no Man Utd cover at all, which is a bit dangerous.
September 30 at 9:06 am
FORCA INTER says:
if i am at wc i would try do something like that
and maybe get Nani in as well
September 30 at 9:07 am
Nitin Nagaraja says:
Fellow Suarez owner! Nice
Yeah, I’m tempted to get rid as well.
September 30 at 9:03 am
aree036 says:
Im considering Bale in for Guthrie, and Suarez in for RVP. am I just knee jerking? -4 hit.
September 30 at 9:04 am
Daniel_tsl says:
i would do that
September 30 at 9:06 am
aree036 says:
I have no other united cover. Is it too much of a risk?
September 30 at 9:06 am
Old School says:
cue RVP brace… it will take a brave man (or woman) (said in true monty python style) to go without him… For me, he stays.. him and pig looked awesome 2nd half yesterday.. In fact UTD did so think he will explode soon
September 30 at 9:09 am
aree036 says:
saying that i also have no liverpool or spurs cover. And bale really did look menacing. I think suarez was a bit flukey / bad defending and keeping.
September 30 at 9:13 am
Old School says:
It’s your team… good luck with whatever you decide….

Night mate

Night night.
September 30 at 9:04 am
Daniel_tsl says:
Even with ManC fixtures, there’s too much rotation risk and who knows who’d score so i would stay away from them…….
Only 1 without rotation risk is Yaya, who doesnt really score……..
I’m taking the risk of no ManC cover based on this, hopefully it pays off
September 30 at 9:04 am
aree036 says:
Sounds like you have yourself convinced.
September 30 at 9:06 am
Daniel_tsl says:
yup
September 30 at 9:05 am

Let’s join no Man City cover Club!

asyrafdanial says:
already did BERBA + TEVEZ > LAMBERT + BA with 2ft..
then, thinking to do Yaya + Cuellar > Bale + Gibbs with -8 pt hits.
maybe not worth.but with gibss price rise make me willing to do that transfer..
September 30 at 9:08 am
daniel says:
Not worth, Yaya to Bale for -4 is at most.
September 30 at 9:12 am
asyrafdanial says:
u can see my team..with 19pt this week & 3 consecutive red arrow means my team look worse.
September 30 at 9:04 am
scored says:
man city’s aren’t as great as everyone makes out imo. A lot of defensively tight teams even if theyre not fashionable. Yes city will score goals because theyre city, but this is reflected in player price-tags anyway
September 30 at 9:05 am
Daniel_tsl says:
yea
September 30 at 9:06 am
scored says:
man city’s *fixtures*
September 30 at 9:10 am
aree036 says:
I think part of the worry is though that you want to have at least one strong city option available to captain for easy home fixtures, especially as they have a few coming up over the coming weeks. Its a hard one to pick of course because of rotation.
September 30 at 9:10 am
Daniel_tsl says:
Yaya is fixed, but not a usual goalscorer
September 30 at 9:10 am
Berbilly Gilmore - Nuevo Gerente del Betis says:
SWA, whm and AVL look brilliant imo. SUN and TOT not too bad, but wba is a bit tougher.
September 30 at 9:05 am
Ravanelli says:
My frontline is rvp, Lambert and Fletcher, should I do rvp to Suarez or fletch to jelly or just leave it as it is?
September 30 at 9:13 am
aree036 says:
out of those options – fletch to jelly. but realistically your front line is solid and you’ll just be tinkering for the sake of tinkering a bit. I assume you have some other everton cover.
September 30 at 9:18 am
Ravanelli says:
Yeah, got pienaar and Baines, thanks for reply, jelly is tempting with those fixtures though
September 30 at 9:06 am
FORCA INTER says:
any advice what to do with my team ?
Foster / Ruddy
Baines / Nelsen / Gorkss / Hughes / Demel
Morrison / Hazard / Guthrie / MIchu / Cazorla
RVP / Jelavic / Suarez
1FT and 1.1M in bank
Shall i save my FT this week?
September 30 at 9:06 am
Old School says:
looks good to me
September 30 at 9:09 am
Nitin Nagaraja says:
Yep, save. Good to have 2 after the int. break.
September 30 at 9:07 am
FORCA INTER says:
i am looking to get Silva and Gervinho after internationals
September 30 at 9:13 am
Nitin Nagaraja says:
Gervinho, Giroud, Walcott will all be rotated.
September 30 at 9:16 am
FORCA INTER says:
Grioud shouln’t go anywhere near 1st arsenal team
Gervinho can be used at wing as well so i think that he is nailed on (at least short-trem)
September 30 at 9:14 am
Nitin Nagaraja says:
If say so.
September 30 at 9:11 am
daniel says:
Better Save it. Your teams look good. But no Bale could be a concern! But who to take out would be a problem though.

Malcolm Tucker for England Manager says:
Wasn’t bad. Should start with no problems.
Was a half successful shout. Got his place back but the entire team was iffy (better than vs Everton though).
Would expect him to rack some up next two though (fingers crossed anyway)

daniel says:
So You watched Swansea match? How about Michu?
September 30 at 9:17 am
Malcolm Tucker for England Manager says:
Didn’t watch it myself, but spoke to swans fans last night.
Michu was solid. Got into some good areas but unlucky with final pass or finish a couple of times. Seems to drift in and out of looking interested was feedback (but that’s never stopped Berbatov)
September 30 at 9:11 am
Natster | The Shuffling says:
4, 5, and 3 are numbers of goals that Man City scored against Subderland in the last 3 seasons. Sunderland might be in better hands and having more good players, but I still hope the trend to continue.
Trying to hold on Tevez if he doesn’t start CL game..
September 30 at 9:12 am
daniel says:
Sunderland seems concentrating on Defense a lot more this year.

Matt - Manager of Reims, the best club in France (almost) says:
ok, so i’ve been thinking (already dangerous) man city’s next few games aren’t that bad. when they turn worse, man united’s get much better. would it be a terrible idea to bring in clichy for rafael for now even though he”s a rotational doubt and then get rafael or another defender when fixtures get worse?
September 30 at 9:41 am
Dufflinks says:
Lambert vs Tevez.
Tevez will play less but get more chances. Lambert with play more, but get less chances.
‘IF’ the two even out – then Lambert is the better choice, points potential per minute x cost, right?
