Sky Sports Focus

There’s no change at the top in the US and there’s no movement in our Sky Sports Scout League, either. Which of those two scenarios will have the biggest impact on our world? That’s probably down to how Chris Tuck will spend his £25k if he wins the top prize. I’m hoping for a box of “Krispy Kremes” at least. Here’s this week’s look at our Sky Sports standings, the latest transfer trends and a look forward to tonight’s Fantasy Football Club…

The Scout League

Mr Tuck’s “Vuvuzela Symphony” continues to hit the high notes as he maintains his lead on top of the Scout League, although the gap has been closed. Charles Mouzon’s “Geordie Boys” were 22 points behind but halved the deficit last weekend. Gary Paterson’s “Pack Leaders” are also breathing down Tuck’s neck, some 17 points behind.

Our top trio are all in the top 20 Sky Sports managers, with Chris trailing the overall leader by 27 points, having suffered an average Gameweek by his high standards. With Paul Hennessy and Jonathan Lenharth also riding high, we have five managers in the overall top 22 vying for the winner’s prize of £25k. Bring it home boys!

It’s not surprising, then, that the community remain on top of the League rankings – with a 14 point lead out on top thanks to a strong top five average of 622.8.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Forces

Robin Van Persie remains the most coveted transfer target this week as his consistency makes the armband selection in this game just as straightforward as it is in the Fantasy Premier League. The Dutch game-breaker was part of almost 30% of the transfers made this week, as latecomers switched over to the United man in their attacks. Liverpool’s Louis Suarez appears to be the other striker in vogue – 22% of the transfers made this week involved the Uruguayan, with Everton’s Marouane Fellaini playing second fiddle to the two front men; the Belgian has been party to by 19% of transfers in this week.

Swansea’s Michel Vorm has been shed by the thousands following his groin injury and tops the transfers out rankings. Folk appear to be waking up to the fact that Carl Jenkinson can no longer offer the strong value of the opening 10 weeks now that Bacary Sagna has returned to fitness. Jenkinson’s huge ownership took a dent this week with over 13% of transfers out involving the Gunners full-back. Fernando Torres and Demba Ba also suffered losses. Over 10% of transfers out, presumably with Suarez and Van Persie coming in, saw Ba dumped. With news today that the Senegal striker looks fit to take on West Ham, you have to wonder if there will be a good few regretting that move come this weekend.

The Fantasy Football Club

Jamie O’Hara, perhaps better known in certain quarters as Mr Danielle Lloyd but known around these parts as the bloke who should have scored more points for Wolves last season, is in Fantasy Football Club studios this week. He’s joined by rapper “Example” apparently. No, me neither – #gettingold. Crash the fun with Fenners and Merse at 10pm on Sky Sports one tonight.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      I'm going to have Zabaleta for this week and next, then ditching (I might even do it next week, but the potential of him starting at home to Villa is very appealing).

        backline changes every gw barring kompany who is overpriced

    Bego (McCarthy)

    Baines, Rafael, Gorkss (Hughes, Wilson)

    Bale, Santi, HBA, Walters (Sterling)

    RVP, Ba, Berbs

    RVP (c) as well? I don't think anyone can argue with him being captain any week.

    Does anyone think Rafael could be just as nailed on as Baines for Man U fixtures in 2012.

    Reason I ask is, I do and I'm trying very hard to get him in my team with minimal disruption.

    Team is linked, but would need to:

    Clyne -> Rafael
    HBA -> Fellaini
    Walters -> 4.8 mid

    or including:
    Tevez -> Ba, could afford 5.7 mid

    Obviously not right away as it's minimum 8 point hit, but with Fellaini rising tonight could do the HBA -> Fellaini today?

    If you have spend the last 20 minutes on the forum, you should know if your team is in the right order you dimwits. Now, since that is out of the way, all set?

    Begovic
    Rafael Sagna Baines
    Santi Michu Mata Fellaini(vc)
    RVP(c) Tevez Berbatov

    McCarthy Sterling Gorkss Clyne

      😀

      Yes, all set. I have Gorkss ahead of Sterling on the bench this time.

      New post by the way.

      Wow I liked the look of that team, similar to mine but stronger defence.

      I initially thought, how can you afford that team, so just (temporarily!) transfered the different 5 players so we have the same 15 and I was just £0.1m short.

      I really want Rafael, don't think i could afford Sagna too.

      Obvious weakness would be McCarthy but Begovics fixtures strong

    Are hits for defenders and forwards a little silly, unless they are literally 'proven' big hitters by the likes of Baines, RVP, Suarez, Tevez etc.

    I have a team that I am really really happy with at the moment, and confident going forwards.

    Front line of Tevez RVP and Berbatov. Only thing is, Berbas fixtures dont appeal to me. I already made 3 transfers to get RVP in and that cost me 4pts, but I was thinking about maybe getting a Crouch/Kone/Lambert in for Berba, also, however, costing me 4pts for a total of 8 this week.

    Thing is though, even if Kone gets a goal, you probably only return 5 pts over a 2pter from Berbatov (-4 for the hit), thus only gaining 1pt. Two goals you probably gain 7 pts (3 bonus).

    That extra point for a midfielders goal, and the extra chance of bonus for a scoring mid seems to make a midfield hit the most preferable, AFTER, already making frees or even hitting for the week already.

    So I suppose I pose the question before I am done for the day.............Berba to someone this weekend (Kone, Crouch, Jela.....at home etc etc)for a 8pt hit total???

      you gotta think about the future value, not just game week. If you assume you'll always make your free transfer a week on correcting an injury or something then the real wquestion is will that 4 pt hit be worth it over a handful of week. Also add in prise rises into the decision. Happy transferring!

      The cost of getting a transfer wrong, especially an unnecessary one like Berbatov > Kone, is far too big. Even more so for a hit. I think a lot of people put too much stock in fixtures and not enough in quality

      8pt hits are rarely ever worth it. I wouldn't it. Think you pretty much did talk yourself out of it above. 😉

      Its only a hit if your transfer fails, there is no right or wrong on this one its how you play the game that decides your answer.

    Just came joint top in our ML manager of the month. Splitting a fiver, £2.50 each! Exciting! As a recent graduate, that'll go some way to paying back my loans...

      You'll be paying back the loans forever with that attitude. Learn to market yourself better and make the most of the situation, focus on the winning not the reward and you will grow, grow, grow!!!! Good luck!!

    Do any Walters owners wish that they didn't have him? I'm always hopeful ahead of a Stoke home game with him, but I'm thinking Gaston Ramirez might be a better option.
