The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 26

Denied more winnings by Mark Bunn’s penalty save from QPR’s Adel Taarabt, it was a case of so near and yet so far last time out. Paddy grabbed back our profit, then, leaving us all the more determined to see through the bluster of the double Gameweek and find a winner amongst this week’s Scout markets…

Not surprisingly, the double Gameweek players dominate our thinking, with Michu up first in our player markets. The 13-goal Spaniard is without a strike in six league starts but, with basement dwellers QPR at the Liberty, he should be in store for further opportunities to break that duck. Harry’s side have been solid of late but, with Michu retained in so many lineups with his two fixtures, we’re happy to back him with a goal to break the Rangers resolve. Paddy are offering 7/2 on a Michu goal with a Swansea clean sheet and, with QPR struggling to breakthrough at the other end, we’re happy to back that with £4 of this week’s stake.

Steven Gerrard is our other double Gameweek performer on show – lining up in the Scout Picks off the back of some incredibly consistent form, his owners will fancy him for further returns when West Brom pay visit to Anfield on Monday night. Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Gerrard goal with a clean sheet for the Liverpool back four look favourable and worthy of another £3 of our cash.

That’s leaving us short for our final two markets, which is a shame when we look at what’s on offer. Odds of 10/1 on a Robert Snodgrass goal with a Norwich clean sheet at home to a Fulham side that could be without Dimitar Berbatov, look tempting. Snodgrass has been the key performer for the Canaries this term and while Chris Hughton’s outfit have struggled for a cutting edge of late, we fancy Snodgrass’ ability from a dead-ball to be a factor here. We’re gladly lay down a couple of quid on this one.

That leaves just a single pound coin to toss the way of this week’s treble. This time around we’ve gone with the tide of form and featured Wayne Rooney in the market, with Paddy offering 14/1 on a Rooney goal against his former club Everton, together with a Juan Mata assist against Wigan and a clean sheet for Liverpool in Monday’s clash with West Brom. If all three of those come in, we’ll have our stake back with some profit to show.

Am I mad to go Gerrard or Enrique (c) or will Mata go mental?
