Theo Walcott is available for Arsenal after recovering from the knock sustained in England’s match with Ukraine. Christian Eriksen could start for Tottenham against Norwich, though Erik Lamela may have to make do with a bench role. Everton will assess a knock to Seamus Coleman ahead of Chelsea’s visit, Gary Hooper is available for Norwich, while Allan McGregor remains a doubt as Hull entertain fellow promoted club Cardiff at the KC:

Arsene Wenger handed many a Fantasy manager good news yesterday after revealing Theo Walcott was “fully fit” for the Gunners’ trip to Sunderland. Tomas Rosicky is out, though, after failing to recover from the thigh injury picked up on international duty with the Czech Republic – Mesut Ozil is poised to make his debut against the Black Cats, though Wenger – somewhat tongue-in-cheek – insisted he hadn’t decided whether to start the German international. Wenger also confirmed earlier this morning that Thomas Vermaelen could make the squad having returned to full training, though new boy Yannick Sanogo is sidelined with a back problem.

Elsewhere in north London, Andre Villas-Boas had plenty to say when it came to his new arrivals. The Spurs boss discussed Christian’s Eriksen’s likely debut against Norwich tomorrow afternoon:

“Will he be in the line-up this weekend? There is a big possibility but it’s not a certainty yet.”

Erik Lamela was also on the agenda too. The former Roma star only returned to England yesterday morning after international duties with Argentina and his manager conceded:

““The fact that he’s yet to train with the team puts him in a very difficult position to start the game, but it’s not impossible.””

Villas-Boas also admitted Vlad Chiriches’ availability still hangs in the balance as the club await a work permit for the Romanian defender. Aaron Lennon and Etienne Capoue remain injured, Emmanuel Adebayor has been given time off for personal reasons and Gylfi Sigurdsson has returned from the Iceland squad with a dead leg.

Roberto Martinez’ installation as Everton boss has proven beneficial to Fantasy managers this season. Gone are the days of unspecified “niggles and knocks” rolled out by David Moyes from one week to the next – this time round, the Toffees boss got straight to the point:

“There are one or two knocks as you would expect, especially Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy, who were away with Ireland. Apart from those two, everyone seems fully fit and ready to perform…Darron (Gibson) and Antolin (Alcaraz) have been working in a way that they are joining the first team; now it is a matter of getting them full match fitness. That could take a couple of weeks depending on how they react. I do feel they probably won’t be fit for the weekend, but they aren’t too far away. It has been a great couple of weeks for Darron, especially in terms of getting close to being available.”

Ian Holloway, on the other hand, could hardly have been more cryptic ahead of Palace’s trip to Old Trafford. The Eagles boss – who lost both Jonny Williams and Jack Hunt to injury earlier in the week and will have to do without the likes of Jerome Thomas and Yannick Bolasie out wide again – would only reveal:

“We’ve had a slight knock somewhere, but I’m not going to say anything to keep them guessing. One of the new players may have to come in. I’ve lost someone who was in the team last week, so I have to put someone else in.”

Gary Hooper is fit and available for selection as Norwich travel to the Lane. The summer signing from Celtic has yet to feature this term due to a shin problem but has trained all week, according to Canaries boss Chris Hughton. Game time off the bench looks the likeliest scenario, though, with the visitors likely to stick to their default lone striker system allowing Ricky Van Wolfswinkel the chance to lead the line again.

Allan McGregor remains a doubt for Hull’s home game with Cardiff. The keeper continues to struggle with the groin problem that forced him out of the recent Scotland internationals, though Abdoulaye Faye has been passed fit and comes into contention for the first time this term. Sone Aluko is expected to be available after a recent hamstring problem, though new forward Gedo is still lacking in match fitness.

Paul Lambert has reported a clean bill of health for Villa’s home game with Newcastle. This brings Nathan Baker and Antonio Luna back into contention after the duo missed the Capital One Cup clash against Rotherham last time out – while the latter looks set to be reinstalled at left-back, Baker faces a fight to oust Jores Okore from the central defensive berth alongside Ron Vlaar.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

This seems most likely. Terry has been quoted saying they might need more time to adjust to the intensity of the training sessions and the physicality of PL, I reckon no start for either until next weekend the earliest.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

So there's less than 24-hours to go in the Sun Dream Team Transfer Window. Being limited to a window is not what we're used to but it's an interesting mechanic. How do we feel about games implementing transfer windows? Does it need more skill or is it even more reliant on luck?

In all seriousness, regardless of the skill level, such a restraint will lead to boredom and a lack of interest in the game.

IMO, It will make the whole season feel like an international break! (Unless I'm misinterpreting the rule here)

From personal experience, playing a german fantasy game that only allows you to pick an initial squad in the summer transfer period and make transfers in the winter period I would say its 70% skill and 30% luck. You just have to know which players are injury prone or might leave a club.

I'd say it's definitely more reliant on luck as a result - no way to manage injuries and suspensions which, lets face it, can strike anyone. It's a more casual friendly approach though so there's nothing wrong with it as such.

Some serious forward planning is required particularly around fixtures. Your players are always going to be at the mercy of injuries, etc. which leaves you high and dry.

If they had a bench, then it would be a better simulation. You'd live and die by your team preparations, like in real football. But since they dont, and manager involvement is next to nowt, my friends and i have 0 respect for winning our mini-leagues of old.

Having a transfer window means that those who just punt on a player - with no intention of keeping them, just to shift them out after a week or two - becomes impossible. It also means that those who spot a Michu preseason and go with him get fully rewarded vs the masses who went with Charles N'Zogbia only to swap a week into the season.

I think a window is a good thing if we want to make our squad decisions longer term ones, and have some exclusivity on our unpolished diamonds, and i guess, makes our strategy closer to the real thing.

With no bench though, you are one injury away from ruining a significant portion of the season and a complete loss of interest. If you go one or two men down you play for a month or so with 9 or 10 men. Mental.

You should have a budget for 15 players as in the FPL, then players such as Sturridge wouldn't be such a season killer when they get ruled out for 2 or 3 weeks all a time.

      In Summary:
      - Bench + Windows = fairest, toughest and closest experience in fantasy football. More skill than FPL, less luck than Sun. Can someone set this up?
      - No window, FPL rules = most fun, more reliant on skill & trend spotting
      - Sun Format is for pussies. Pick a team and go shopping for knickers

(not that i don't have a Sun team)

    Migs 4m

    Vidic Coleman Collins Baker Chester

Walcott Yaya Brady JWP Ben Arfa

    Benteke RVP(c) Giroud

    Pros:

    - The forward line is strong

    - RVP in the team

    Cons:

    -Ben Arfa is a risk!
    -No Liverpool attack

Ozil to Wally - think Ozil will need to settle, which he will do eventually.

You also need to remember his potential assists will come from Girroud or Wally goals, neither of which are half the player Ronaldo is, so I would take his assist statistics over the last couple of seasons with a pinch of salt.

Bent's potential over the next 6 is good and convinced me to give him a whirl, for the price he could be great if he plays regularly and finds form.

Nani is the luxury punt I have allowed myself.

bit of a dilemma: Sturridge, Silva, J.Thomas, R.Bennett all doubtful/not picked...already done a transfer this week so options are:

    a) do nothing and hope two of them make it
    b) Bennett to Kyle Walker (4pt hit)
    c) Bennett to Fonte (4pt hit)
    d) Any other suggestions

Note that I've already got ivanovic, baines and coleman in the same game so a hit may be a risk worth taking.

    Any advice appreciated

I'm pretty sure Sturridge will play on Monday, Silva will likely play, but if not it's only for one week, so I wouldn't be subbing, as your other two are bench fodder, I wouldn't take a hit for them. Anyone else you bring in for that price wouldn't score much to make up for the -4.

Hmm I think it's time to ditch Silva. Injury concern and Pellegrini's talk about rotation and the CL starting and all that. Even if he would start against Stoke, I don't fancy him for points.

The question is now, who to get in? Already have Haz-Wally-Ravel-Mirrallas. Thanks.

My idea was to drop Williams and get Brady and hope Silva starts vs Stoke. I will probably do Silva and Mirallas to Hazard and Michu next week.

Is Dawson is pretty nailed on for a while considering the new lad's work permit issues. Is he still the club captain?

        Disagree

They paid decent amount of money for chirches cos he is pretty solid. Dawson will be rotated going forward. Being a club captain doesnt guarantee anything

Not nailed on because Kaboul used to be a very good defender, and Dawson was poor in their last game, but I would bank on him playing short term at least.

    Be nice!

Found for a little something out if the ordinary here

    Starting 11:

    Migo
Walker (to be vidic after man city) mert zabaleta
    Fellaini yaya eriksen Oscar
    Giroud benteke sturridge

    Thoughts?

We need the bench to judge properly.

Eriksen may not start, Oscar could be rotated.

I would make Zabaleta turn to Vidic your plan instead of Walker.

Fellaini, not sure he will be worth the money as he should be playing deeper for United.

Players you don't have this GW that you wish you had? Many WC teams so I guess there's limited.
    I'll start;
    HBA
    RVP
    Aguero/Negredo
    Sturridge

Some difficult decisions for me this week. Would love it if anybody could give me advice on these teams:

    Team 1:
    GK: Mignolet (Harper)
DEF: Zabaleta, Shaw, Koscielny (Chester) (B. Turner)
MID: Walcott, Lampard, HBA, Brady (Ward-Prowse)
    ATT: RVP, Soldado, Giroud

    Team 2:

    GK: Mignolet (Harper)
DEF: Vidic, Chester, Koscielny (Yanga-Mbiwa) (Baker)
MID: Walcott, Coutinho/Michu, HBA, Brady (Ward-Prowse)
    ATT: RVP, Benteke, Giroud

Yanga-Mbiwa only on the bench for this weeks since he will be playing against Benteke.

    Something else:

    1) Which 6mil defender should I go for I.e Vidic, Terry, Walker

    2) Which 9 mil should I bring in?

    3) Sturridge or Benteke?

    All comments appreciated 🙂
