We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

Hope you're right. Brought him in as I thought he'd score decent points and make money. Could have played Ward, Januzaj or Hooper ahead of him and saved -4.

Here's hoping nip theory is wrong.

Have 1 FT, which transfer to make?
    A) Barkley in for Morrison
    B) Giroud in for Lukaku
    C) Save FT and hope Morrison plays as Silva is suspended and I don't want to sell him

Maybe away to Newcastle but home to Cardiff is a different case altogether, Giroud does look off it a bit atm and he took a hefty knock during the game so there's every chance he could get a rest

Yeah but was in reference to him being used for the Newcastle game and not being rested for that as people thought Pod would get a run after doing so well against West Ham when he came home. Also, never believe a football manager, they all bullshit lots

Silva back in next week and he is a season keeper.

    Mannone
    Coleman, Merte, Ward
    Yaya, Walcott, Redmond, Hazard
    Suarez, Rooney, Hooper

Chester, Silva, Vlaar 1FT 1.2 ITB

Planning to do Vlaar --> Debuchy then put Redmond first sub on the bench, and just bench Silva for a week. Even if Newcastle concede against WBA Debuchy still looks a great attacking threat. Sound good or would you recommend something else?

Anyone got solid information on Sterling. Gerard and Sturridge back training but doesn't look to me like they'll be starting any time soon. Want to go JWP to Sterling for -4. But dont want it as a one week thing. Is it worth it, cause Liverpool have some good fixtures coming up?

Talk of Moses getting a game apparently. Sterlings poor display against Chelsea and potential need for a rest won't help matters. I was keen to get Sterling in with my FT but I don't think I'll take the risk now.

I think he played well and looked a threat in the City game and the Chelsea game. Great form, great fixture and he hasn't played many games this season.

He's a young lad, he'll be one of the quicker players in terms of recovery times.

No reason to 'rest' him ahead of a ten day break
