We bring you the draws for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and FFS Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for both competitions took place over Gameweek 27:

First of all, entrants with a score of 56 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX. If you scored 55 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Our defending champion, Tdubb05, gets his title defence underway against stocherilac this weekend. Looking at some of the other previous winners, Jonty plays djt, MCH is up against Jambo 17, Donnellyc has cflanesra, Wild Rover goes head-to-head with Chobber Slops FC, whilst Gooner Dave has been drawn against JW.

Some of the plum ties amongst the community include Chu Young Ping Pong v Acquafresca, Bubbles against Yes the Sess! and Accounting on Chris v Attila the Bum.

Four of the current top 100 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are in the hat for this weekend’s matches. Gambiteer, Justoutsidethemoney and Forbes are amongst those high-fliers as is world number two Tom Fenley, whose opponent, Alistair, currently sits around the 23,000-mark.

If you’ve qualified or just fancy a nosey, click here to view the full First Round Draw.

Entrants with a score of 58 points or more will have made their way into the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV. If you scored 57 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Defending champion Acquafresca is up against Caladan Brood, whilst another former winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, goes head-to-head with The EJJ in Gameweek 28.

Amongst the notable community match ups, contributors Big Dunc and In Tommy We Trust face up to EpicFail and Chu Young Ping Pong respectively, whilst Dino’s clash with Bootsy and Thomass67 against Absinthe also catch the eye.

Once again, Tom Fenley is the manager to avoid in this cup. This time, he’s up against tmidrew who, with a rank inside the top 4,000, will fancy his chances of causing an upset. You can click here to view the First Round Draw.

For a list of the prizes and dates of each round, check out this initial article. As always, good luck to all those involved.

I'm up a bit late with work in the morning but thought I'd chip in with all the United discussions.
I've read all seven pages and have a couple of things to say as a 41 year old Liverpool fan.

It may well be the end of an era for United. Two decades of dominance could well be coming to an end. I experienced the same thing when Kenny resigned in 1991 and Liverpool went hurriedly downhill when Souness was appointed. Many United fans will have only been used to unprecedented success thus far and it's very difficult to accept when results falter so badly, so quickly after a new manager is appointed.

If you are in your 20s or early 30s and are a ManU fan, you have my sympathies, and I mean that sincerely, but you need to prepare yourself for a period of uncertainty and support your club accordingly. You've had many great days and now is the time to step up to the plate and shed that misconception that all United fans are from London or are somehow "plastic".

I'm a Liverpool fan and when I was younger I would have relished in the fact the fact that United were struggling, but with age comes maturity, and grace. I feel genuinely sorry that a great club like United were reduced to a performance like that in Europe tonight.

The whole LOL @ Utd, thing annoys me.

Great club. Great history. There's many a United fan still around that spent 26 years waiting for a title, just like us Liverpool fans these days.

Following your team is a glorious and life long passion.

    🙂

Well said. I've never been a Man U fan but they are truly a great club. Ferguson was one of the all time great managers and can not be replaced. Uncertainty will be the test of the club and its fans but they have the pedigree to find the right, new path.

Great post. As a United fan who had been going to OT every fortnight for almost twenty years before we won the league I appreciate that these things come in cycles. United fans were very lucky that the cycle lasted as long as it did and anyone with any objectivity could see that the team has been on the decline for three years or more and that only the will of Fergie secured the last two titles. many United fans don't realise how lucky we've been. It could easily be another 26 years before we see titles returning as it takes a long time to halt a decline as you've seen with your team too.

Great response. I would be one of these United fans in my late 20's. Coming from the other side of the world also might even put me in the 'plastic fan' camp. However I never came to accept United as my team because they won all the time, I am no glory hunter (I support the Blue's and Northland rugby teams for a start for those in the know). I am fully prepared to continue supporting United through the tough times ahead and will relish the challenges that await. Bring it on.

alot of moyes bashing on here tonight.. im sure most of it by non man united fans and those who take more interest in the troubles of united than their own teams but no surprise there...

the favoured argument that seems to be used as a stick to beat moyes with is the fact that united won the league by 11 points last year and he inherited the champions.. now this is very true however with a coach in place that quite simply is the best the english game has ever seen had been there 26 years and was loved respected and feared in equal measure by each and every squad member.. moyes has been there 8 or 9 months..

the squad he took charge of has been in steady decline since 2009 when we sold the worlds best player ronaldo.. fergie knew it deep down.. we won that league last season pretty much by default.. our challengers floundered around us chelsea involved in europa league football fell away in the league and man city players due to some brutal man management by mancini didnt wanna play for him.. there was enough cannon fodder in the league to win it with sheer firepower aka rvp who was played pretty much every game scoring 30 odd goals...

the scary form of rvp alone was enough to paper over the cracks of a brutal central midfield last year and get the title back from city before fergie packed it in and left a winner... with mourinho returning to chelsea and mancini given the boot at city he knew he wouldnt be retaining it and bailed..

so what moyes was actually left with was a waste ground of a midfield to be fair and his 2 best players rooney and rvp only available to start together maybe 10 or so times i think this season due to injuries.. in other words the paper over the cracks that fergie enjoyed wasnt there anymore and the sub standard midfield brutally exposed and we have been pissed on by and over run by any team who has had the plums to have a go at us..

on top of that its obvious he has been let down badly by underperforming players and in particular vidic and evra his captain and vice 2 players he should of been able to rely on but have between them on numerous occasions cost us points through schoolboy errors and total lack of concentration at times not to mention de gea howler which cost us a place in a wembley final..

mistakes have been made yes his tactics are questionable i admit but hes been there 9 months ffs and that midfield and much of the defence needs rubbed out and drawn again its as simple as that...

our position in the league is probably fair when u consider our midfield options

the guy is no mug he must be given time to do his own thing before we judge him.. he built a very good team at everton a team that also played very attractive football but it takes time..

its rough going right now no doubt but we have seen enough success over the years to handle a few less successful while this team is rebuilt dont forget fergie went 3 years without a league title when mourinho arrived and started writing his blank cheques..

arsenal and united are the clubs with the most values and deserve to fight
(i mean out of the top clubs im sure luton plmouth shrewsbury etal all have decent morales)

chelsea and city brought the way up....

i think RVP would truly have stood a chance of being "essential" this season if SAF had stuck around.

Where the failure happened was in the expectations of Moyes, but that really couldn't have been helped at all. The team had been the essence of achievement for like 20 years. Didn't matter WHO took over, they were doomed for a fall.

Make some good points, however when players think they're bigger than the club (Rooney) and players think they're better than the team (RVP) how does the manager which they clearly don't respect resolve this?

Very hard to regain confidence in a manager you don't believe in, particularly with the world cup this Summer rather than a longer break to fix the many cracks.

Starting fresh, with someone like Klopp could be the way forward.

Call it what you want. If you disagree fine but silly?

I'd imagine they thought they'd free wheel into the Champions League next season but that isn't happening.

We will all get to see how it pans out I'd imagine at some point in the future Moyes will get the sack.

City & Chelsea battling the title will become the norm.

You can sign whoever you want it ain't going to work under Moyes. He's been a bum candidate from day one but its seems to still have not dawned on you. Successful club appoint manager who has never had success. He's out of his depth looks a beaten man and totally lacking in confidence that shows on his face you can't inspire confidence in others when its quite clear you've none yourself.

Why are we led to believe that Ferguson handpicked him then? I've only seen two names put forward here as alternatives and both manage other big clubs. Moyes has more tactical nous than he's been given credit for(in spite of this season) and it's been a rough road for him as a first season manager. There's a learning curve for him too.

Why did Fergie buy Bebe? Or Zaha? Or Djemba-Djemba?

I'm sure he in his judgement he decided they were worth the fee paid.

Maybe his judgement was wrong here too.

1 RVP didnt win the league on his own, where did the chances come from?

2 brutal central midfield - Moyes has spent 64million on players that werent needed and the MF is still 'brutal'. He ignored Matic, Cabaye, Lallana, Strootman and many others to waste money on Fellaini.

3 The team are a tactical mess, this is the main problem, not this 'perceived' lack of quality. The quality is there. Not enough quality to beat Newcastle, Cardiff, WBA, Fulham - please......

      4. The players are underperforming because has has not managed to motivate them to believe in his methods/tacics. Speaking about the 'brutal' MF - Garreth Barry is a perfect example of how a player can perform in an organised system with decent instructions to follow and a clear job to do. The form of Fellaini, Cleverly, Carrick this season is what you get with crap management

      5. A decent ,anager would have beaten the teams i mentioned above and United would be at least 12 points better off. Why? because the standard of the PL isnt that great, even sherwood has spurs in 5th! Christ even Pardew has his squad only 5 points further back.

To think Moyes will manage a team to a league or European title is laughable. He needs to go, pronto

        1. that league title wouldnt of been won without rvp.. we wouldnt even have been close... he did

        2. the summer transfer window was a bit of a disaster theres no getting away from that but moyes was never gunna be able to transform a midfield in a couple of months all the while trying to keep our best player from joining chelsea.. the best move he made was conving rooney to stay and his form this season has proven that.. fellainis been injured for about 4 months of the season and adjusting to a totally different postion to what he was playing at everton so largely we have been operating with the same options in the centre of the park..

        3. i refered to the questionable tactics and one of those teams u mentioned when they beat us had 2 central midfielders in cabaye and tiote that would walk onto our team... refer to my point also about our league position being fair considering midfield options

        4. cleverleys form was just as awful last year under ferguson and admittedly carricks was alot better altho he did have paul scholes at times along side him i would probably look pretty accomplished myself with scholes beside me... fellaini been out for about 4 months as i said hasnt got going yet we what the guy is capable of and he has been one of the top players in the league for the last few seasons and who was his manager? oh yeah

        5. the standard of the teams at the top of the prem is alot stronger than last year i hate having to repeat myself but as i pointed out chelsea man city not to mention arsenal and liverpool are alot stronger this time around... teams like spurs evrton newcastle southampton have stronger central midfield options than we do its simple as that

Then stop repeating yourself and look at things from a different angle. Youre exactly like Moyes with your posts, repeating the same thing over and over and hoping for a different outcome.
The results speak for themselves. Just cos youve backed yourself into a corner sticking up for Moyes doesnt make you right.

Apart from that we say a lot of the same things but you still think Moyes is the man and should be given time - that doesn't make any sense. Youre basically contradicting your own points and donning the 'rose tinted glasses'.
A fresh look at the evidence will do you some good, honestly.

And talking about our position being fair considering the MF options is not smart. Teams aren't made up of 8 MF's. How long have people been saying that Ferguson needed to sign a new Roy Keane or new Paul Scholes? He still won leagues and got to 3 CL finals. The reason is that he could get the best from what was at his disposal. Moyes clearly cannot...

      Good post.

The transition period has been tough for Utd and the manager has been the main focus for the hysteria. I think Alex gave a good speech when he retired and the words I particularly remember was that the fans should give patience to their new manager and structure. (Almost like he knew there will be trouble ahead)

Anyway transition is over now and the people that work at Manchester United are grounded into their roles to give service to the good people that support their club.

I fecking hate the fact money has been axed between the fans of football and the money gangsters of corrupt greed but feel some how in the end the mansions the bent murderers and prostitutes are living in at the moment will one day be a distant memory when the previous owners are hiding in a sewer pipe full of the shit that they created.

          Not all his fault...
the same squad (bolstered with Moyes 27m midfield signing( went from a refs decision from beating Real Madrid last season to being drubbed by a team that sold its best player to bottom of the table Fulham.

          Whos fault is this?
It must be that every player at United has suddenly decided to perform to 60% of his capabilities since Ferguson left. Yep, just decided, feck this I couldn't be arsed....
Or could it be that the same professionals are following crap instructions which are leading to crap performances leading to crap results leading to loss of confidence in manager and system which feeds crap performances etc all over again.
          Theyre getting worse, not better.

I give up, how are United going to sack the most loved manager in their history?
Loved by Chelsea fans, idolised by Liverpool fans, adored by City fans (you get the drift)

Moyes is totally to blame. SAF won the Title with that team regardless of it's quality.

This is a title winning team.

The problem is the tactics, the confidence and the desire to win.

Moyes is totally to blame. He brought his own backroom staff in and it was a bad gamble,

I agree with the points you made, but I also agree that even if SAF was the manager this season they would not have won the league and probably would have come in 4th at the most due to the quality of Arsenal/Chelsea/City and perhaps even Everton.

No doubt about it, Fergie was worth a fair number of points per season to United, but there is no way it amounts to the number of points United will finish this season away from last years total, especially as they have added to the squad.

you can't completely blame Moyes. We have needed a CM for over 3 years and yet Fergie didn't get one when he could. HE let PAUL POGBA GO, and looked how that back fired. Fergie built a squad for short term but he was good at motivation. However Moyes tatics are poor and haven't changed. The team lacks confidence and no one really seem bother. Moyes need to stop blaming bad luck on losing most of all, but the players could do themselves a favour and actually try and win a match.

It's not just motivation though, it's tactical know-how Fergie had that Moyes completely lacks. Fergie understood each of the players in his team and how to make them useful at some stage of the season, whether as a regular or in a particular game in a particular tactical role. He knew how to use Welbeck (who beasted Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and scored the winner), Jones (who made a decent attempt at marking Ronaldo out of the game), even Anderson, Nani and Young were made useful at particular times. Moyes has apparently none of that specialist knowledge and hasn't picked it up. It's as if... as if.... he doesn't understand tactics.

It's not. But it just seems like he didn't stop to think that the important thing when coming to a new team is to make sure the players don't get affected too much from the change, and changing the whole back staff really does affect them when they are so used to their ways.

It reminds me of a new teacher coming in and trying to do things his way in a forceful way, the students immediately have their backs up. I know I would.

His success has made United fans so spoilt they are blaming the man who gave them so much success as a fault for the current state of affairs.

I also think - as a non united fan - that people not only exaggerate the cracks in a side that won by 11 points (should have been more but the last games were unimportant), but also Fergie's efforts to rebuild the team. After being outplayed by Barça, he made a daring effort to rebuild the team around fluid passing and an interchanging front four at the start of the 2011-12 season. They were freescoring and terrific to watch. That all came to a halt after the 6-1 defeat to City, and in hindsight that was the right thing to do. Fergie couldn't transform the squad properly without finances that weren't available to him. He made close to the best of a difficult situation.

Not full blame, but some sort of blame. All their main rivals brought in new players, players who could strengthen the squad and give them width, which is something ManU failed to do (Fallaini? lol). My point about SAF is that many of the players in the team were on their last legs and that made it all the harder for Moyes to hit the ground running.

    The big question for most:

    Adam v Snodgrass

    Adam:
    +More explosive.
+More dangerous from pens, corners (assists) and long range.
    +Higher chance of assists.
    -Plays away at Norwich soon.
-Plays at Arsenal at home next who have a strong defence in the league.
    -Adores a booking.

    Snodgrass:
+More dangerous from free kicks (debatable I know).
    +Shoots closer to goal.
    +Arguably stronger fixtures.
    -Norwich don't score.
-Not the best from the spot.

Both are on all set pieces as far as I'm aware for those who didn't know.

    My verdict: Adam.
We know what he can do, his FF history speaks for itself (ignoring his stint at Anfield).

    I may just get both!

It's not that bad to have players from the 2 teams of the same match. If Arsenal can't shut out Stoke, Adam is highly likely to score you some points, then you will beat those who have Snoddy but he scores nothing against Aston Villa.

I think Adam and Snodgrass are much of a muchness so go with the cheaper.

Snodgrass is the better player, but in a worse team
Adam is a lesser player, but on penalties and set pieces and a team where other people actually try and score.

What bugs me most isn't the losing, it's the acceptance of utter mediocrity. Half the players are clearly not even bothered trying to play their best football and all Moyes will do is curse their lack of luck. He's not arsed trying anything different either, sticks to what he knows despite it being nothing short of a disaster. Nobody actually seems to give two shits, that's what bugs me. Would love if all of their wages were result dependent.

That's what happens when you support the team that has been top of the league and best in the country for your whole life. You're not used to the losing and scrapping for points that pretty much every other team has done at some point. United have put everything on a plate for their fans, now that has all changed.

I agree completely, my point is much much more that I literally do not have any time right now to waste. Buried under working and any spare time I do get I need to use better. As I've said I've watched every (or at least the vast majority of them) United match this season, I just can't commit time that's going to be completely wasted though. Won't be cheering for anyone else, won't be chasing glory, I just can't spend that much time anymore. Not when they're not even arsed trying, that's all I want is for them to try.

Players are running towards him, causing defenders to run towards him, so he can't do anything. Good footballers drag defenders away from their strikers, to give them space.

Posted this rant on the wrong thread so thought I'd post it again:

I'm fed up of this whole thing about whether the Prem is the best league or not (Keane chiming in that it's clearly not because Prem teams are struggling in Europe). We need to separate these two things:
Best TOP TEAMS in the world and best LEAGUE in the world.

The top two or three teams in Spain and Germany (and to a lesser degree Italy and France) are clearly either better or at least as good as those in England at the moment but the FPL as a whole - in terms of the totality of all the teams in it and how competitive it is - is the best LEAGUE competition in the Europe.

Again, you're missing the point. It's about the totality of the league as a competition and the fact that all of teams are a lot closer to each other and able to beat each other leading to a much more unpredictable and exciting competition.

Because of the competitive nature of our league our top teams have it harder on a week by week basis - that does count against them in the Champions League

what a strange match people are using to criticise the PL
United are basically 7th in the pl (everton have easy game in hand), 15 points behind the leaders yet breezed their group and lose all of 2-0 away in last 16
how is that a smear on the pl???

I don't care what fergie said because he left the mess.

I have been defending moyes from the start but it is now getting very hard to defend him. Can't for the life of me understand why he played cleverly tonight

Are you actually a United fan? Anyone that comes out with Fergie left a mess is a plastic spolit brat. Check the roll call of trophies you won under Fergie the joy those successes brought you. But you choose to shit all over his legacy and say Fergie left us a mess. He left a title winning team.

Fergie was and is the best manager of all time fact. But just because am a utd fan am not going to defend the squad he left or forget about the fact he never replaced Keane or Scholes.

And I also think the timing of his book was a disgrace!

And please stop going on about the title winning team. Anybody who knows anything about football will tell you he left e squad in bad shape

I don't actually think if fergie slept with your partner if would make any difference to your opinion of him.

I love fergie like every other utd fan. But am not going to defend or turn a blind eye to the squad and everything else he left behind.

As for the mess behind you list a team below with a nice formation possibly one you play on FIFA.

How many of the players did Fergie leave? Was it 9?

I agree with TAO..he left the mess, the only reson why they won it last season is because it was the worst Pl season since I watch Pl..never saw teams playing that bad againast MU..this team is 3 times worse than Che and Mcity, and in my opinion even worce than Ars and Liv..in rang with Tot,Eve..so there real position is 5-7

So this years Premier League is vintage?

How far are the current top teams behind Europe's elite Man City Chelsea Arsenal Liverpool are in the mix but none are convincing.

By your thinking last seasons Premier League title doesn't count for much just because you say so.

The Fergie left a mess thing is really funny tbh.

If you don'tdon't agree with the mess fergie left tell why it isnt a mess.

because what i see he left is

Rio and vidic who are going/finished. He left him central midfeilders like cleverly, Carrick, giggs, Anderson who are all crap/finished. He left very average wingers. He left him the row he caused with Rooney. And best of all he left him to deal with the fall out from his autobiography

In all fairness, you would have to be naive regarding his comments about the teams capacity to kick on, the midfield needed more investment at the very least, so by going on that I would say they should have waited to judge for themselves, Moyes should at least be challenging for top four, he's now relying on three teams screwing up massively just to have a hope of achieving it.
