Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Monday

After the previous nine matches served up 26 goals, tonight’s White Hart Lane encounter between Tottenham and Sunderland brings the curtain down on Gameweek 33. The Black Cats have now slipped to the bottom of the table and are seven points off safety, but with eight games still to play, including a pair of upcoming double Gameweeks, Gus Poyet will be relying on Vito Mannone’s heroics between the posts and Adam Johnson’s goal threat more than ever, with the winger back in the first XI this evening:

For the hosts, the likes of Christian Eriksen and fit-again Emmanuel Adebayor are handed the chance to make an impression on Fantasy managers ahead of a very favourable run-in which sees Tim Sherwood’s side square up to three more of the bottom eight (West Brom, Fulham and Villa) in the final five rounds of fixtures.

As always, our Twitter feed will bring you all the news from tonight’s teamsheets, while the Dugout Discussion chatroom is open to accompany you right through to the final whistle in north London.

Any of these worth a hit?

Sturridge and Azpilicueta to Lukaku and Baines

    or

Sturridge and Aj to Aguero and Barkley

I'd be tempted. Sunderland are doomed now, unfortunately. I'm glad I didn't go ahead and get Johnston or Bardsley in...

What do ppl think of Studge+Williamson -> Lambert+Baines......?

Dgw line-up of Speroni, Ward, Coleman, Baines, Zabs, Hazard, Nasri, yaya, suarez, lukkau, lambert (Eriksen, Azpi, Ki)

I'm not happy with any of the City players, except maybe Silva. The defense has been good of late with good fixtures coming up, but having Liverpool as one of the DGW games negates the value of the DGW from a defensive standpoint. Toure will lose pens and may also play somewhat more defensively with Aguero back. Nasri and Dzeko may lose minutes to Aguero, but Aguero himself is not guaranteed to play. Silva will have to move back to the wing.

I think I'm going to go Silva/Yaya/Dzeko. I feel like Silva and Yaya are the obvious choices, because they're nailed on and have had good form recently and for the season. I think Dzeko may actually be less affected by Aguero, minutes-wise, than Nasri. Aguero, as far as I can remember has never featured as the lone striker, so he only takes away minutes from Dzeko in that Dzeko and Negredo don't play together when Aguero's on. They don't play together that much anyway though, and Dzeko seems preferred. However, one of Nasri, Navas, or Silva will have to be benched whenever Aguero's on the pitch.

its weird how good players become excellent fpl prospects when their team mates are away......look at Mata and Kagawa. im gonna look for this next season.

Very likely. Cardiff are full of goals for their opponents. I would get both Speroni and a defender, (which I have) before I brought in Puncheon (which I won't). For the few of us that already have 3 Everton, 3 City, and 2 CP, he's an option I guess.

Very happy with 80.. tempted to only go 5/6 DGW'ers next week which could be a downfall.

Kneejerk hour. 2FT. AJ to Eriksen, because Eriksen looked great and AJ was just awful when I tuned in.

Please confirm this is the right move.
