Captain Sensible – Gameweek 36

This week’s Captain Poll is a far more open affair, with players from four teams taking up the top five spots. Arsenal’s home clash with Newcastle brings in-form duo Aaron Ramsey and Lukas Podolski onto the radar, United’s first match since the dismissal of David Moyes boosts our faith in Wayne Rooney, whilst Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero are, as always, amongst the usual suspects despite tricky weekend encounters against the Chelsea and Palace defences:

We take the top five in this week’s Captain Poll as our starting point and construct a members table based around a number of their key statistics in order to flag up any other players offering a similar sort of threat.

All this jumping onto the Rooney bandwagon reeks of desperation. He has shown very little since the toe injury. It may work out, but it seems like hope rather than good sense. It may also end in tears.

        On Ramsey right now.
Suarez could work, too. A draw does nothing for Chelsea, so they will need to attack. Plus, missing Terry and Cech, I could see them concede more than two.

I got Rooney last week - it did't pay off, but this week I believe the 'new manager' affect will make a big difference to the likes of Rooners. I think they'll be 'up for it'

A few injury problems this week. Terry and Silva crocked. Dzeko unlikely to play through selection?

What do you chaps think of these options? I don't think I'll be doing d but throwing it out there.

    a) Dzeko -> Rooney and play Geoff Cameron v Spurs and Jordan Mutch v Sunderland
    b) Dzeko & Silva -> Rooney and Mata (-4 points) and play Geoff Cameron
    c) Dzeko & Silva -> Rooney and Ramsey (-4 points) and play Geoff Cameron
    d) Dzeko, Silva & Terry -> Rooney, Ramsey/Mata (which?) & Demichelis (-8 points)

    Harper (K Davis)

    Baines - Azpi - Demichelis - Flannagan - Stones

    Yaya - Eriksen - mata - Puncheon - S Davis

    Lukaku - Suarez - Roonpig

Used my FT and 0 in the bank so what bout this:

    This week - Azpi > Smalling (-4)

Next week - Baines and Lukaku > M Alonso and Aguero (-4)

    Thoughts?

I have a defensive squad of Cahill, Distin (inn), Baines, Chester and Dan. Worth doing Distin to Evra/Demi for a hit. Bringing in Demi would prevent Lallanna to Yaya next week.

So would you guys be tempted to take a hit with this team as i have already done my transfer:

    Mannone
    Cahill, Koscielny, Ward
    Yaya Touré, Gerrard, Nasri, Eriksen
    Suárez, Agüero, Rooney
    (Januzaj, Azpilicueta, Turner)

    1.4ITB

I would like to get Ramsey but its madness to take a hit to take any of my midfielders out for him right?
Would you take a hit to sort my terrible defense for this week? Im considering Azpi --> United defender (Jones probably), but thats bound to end in tears, thoughts?

If Jones plays and gets a CS, that's 6pts. If Ward blanks, you'll break even. If he doesn't you've lost 4pts.

lukaku seems like the kind of player who scores when everyone leasts expect him to. atleast thats what i've experienced with him. lukaku to rooney is sensible though considering rooney has brilliant fixtures.
baines to zab i would avoid this week unless absolutely necessary. taking a hit on a defender is too risky and everton is playing a southampton team looking a bit toothless without jay rodriguez upfront.

Can you bench Cahill this week?
I've currently got him as third sub
Going to watch this week and transfer him off to Demichelis or Utd defender
United defender depends because I want to see how the defence lines up against Norwich and whether they are able to keep a cleansheey, or at least try to
Then can make the move with ease of thought

WTF should I do? 500€ at stake...

Trailing by 39 points and my rival has this team (99% sure)
    Hart
    Baines Azpi Flanagan Baker Chambers
    Eriksen Ramsey Mata Carrick Oviedo
    Suarez Agüero Rooney

    My team (0 FT's left)
    Mannone
    Coleman Cahill Demichelis John Collins
    Eriksen Mata Silva Lallana Januzaj
    Suarez Agüero Giroud

Any transfers for a hit? Could just afford Silva > Yaya or should I rather cover Ramsey?

    Punt on a Giroud captaincy?

I think I need a miracle to overturn this :/

If there's that much riding on it, time to go balls out. Take a gamble on Rooney having a quiet one, ship out Giroud and get Podolski or Bony in as captain. That could be 20pts swing in one move. As long as one of those two gets 4pts more than Giroud (very likely) the transfer pays for itself.

By the same rationale I'd get rid of a defender for Alonso- good cs potential against CAR and double GW next week.

Silva > Ramsey is also an essential transfer, otherwise you're going to get the rest of your midfield (apart from Eriksen and Mata) either being replaced by a low-scoring defender if they don't play or scoring naff all (Lallana's phoning it in, Soton haven't scored for 2 games and look a different team without Rodriguez. Januzaj not guaranteed to start)

Oh wow. That would be ballsy indeed. Don't want to ship out Giroud though to be honest, I reckon he could do as well as Podolski. Maybe Silva > Ramsey and captain Ramsey? How about Collins > Jones as well. This would extend my rivals lead to 47 points though...

    Eriksen to Ramsey for -4?

My thinking was Eriksen has been on good form but I reckon he is due a dip. In addition he has been switched to the left wing and has been less involved in that position. On top of that it seems Kane is the one converting his chances and I reckon he is due a dip as well.
