Koscielny Le Cœur – A Poem For My Favourite Defender

As gameweek one crept near, there was no fear.
Koscielny would be coming in right from the start,
if the defence is a body he will be the heart.
It’s Villa at home, I thought when in Rome.
How did he do? A disastrous minus two!

The heart was broken, but the knee had spoken
he just had to be sold, tossed out in the cold.
North London Derby aside the Gunners kept conceding,
just one a match but the heart was still bleeding.
But then came gameweek nine, what was to be the sign.

A cleanie and baps followed by four more in five,
all of a sudden the Frenchman had come alive.
The heart was pumping but Per’s was thumping,
now sixty seven points to the Frenchman’s fifty two,
Then came an injury at the Etihad, out for another two.

At the time of his return the machine began to churn,
seven clean sheets in eleven, a goal and bap heaven.
Once 31 points ahead, big Per’s lead was being shed.
Now a double gameweek with Koscielny flying
but halfway into match one his owners was crying.

Another injury to add to the suspension,
the absence was unknown adding to the tension.
But then Wenger offered up a glimmer of hope,
missing just two gameweeks it was possible to cope,
but with another double to come, many were done.

His comeback was quiet as other teams had a double,
but little did sellers know, they were in for some trouble.
Three clean sheets in a row, including a goal and four baps,
the heart beat so strong we had a new number one chaps.
It’s now all over and the season has departed,
a final week clean sheet ensured he ended better than he started.

A truly beautiful poem. Well done Applebonkers....makes me wish I'd drafted him into my team now.

    That was very special.

He did so well for me for so long, I wish I'd kept him through the DGW.

    Lovely work

Despite being told I was mad for ignoring doublers I drafted him into my team for the first time in GW36

13,7,6 in the last 3 weeks told me I should have bought him sooner

Other than Zaba (who is over-rated IMO) no DGW defender got close to him

Are Man City the only side with 3 types of FPL pick?

Most sides have defence and attack

City have defence, attack and Kolarov

This is great, fair dues Applebonkers. According to the Gargatron he is my most owned player having had him for 28 weeks. Unfortunately I didn't have him for Arsenal's run in and my season collapsed
