The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Timbo tells us he is  happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week  but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

    Is 3-5-2 formations good?
    If i would go for 3-4-3, I would take Bojan and downgrade Dzeko to Remy perhaps, is that right?

      3-4-3 is best IMO. Change Bartley for Moore. Shelves for albrighton and upgrade Zamora.

      Will BDavies deffo start with Rose signing extension? I like the Ward and Bartley (if he plays) rotation, could work out to be genius.

      Shelvey over Siggy? Can you not swap Sanchez for Ramsey then upgrade Shelv - Siggy and Zomara to Bojan?

      I have always preferred a 3-4-3. However, if you are set on a 2-5-2 this looks pretty good, though I'm not huge fan of Shelvey

      But I think you've spent too much on defence
      Distin is a risk with stones

      Kolarov might be rotated
      Is Williams a £5m defender on your bench?
      I'd downgrade him to a 4.5 and maybe distin to another 4.5, especially with Howard in your team too
      Perhaps Howard to ddg too?

      Then upgrade puncheon or Davis

      Kolarov a rotation risk, and you can downgrade Williams to Taylor and save 0.5

      B, as Evans has easy fixture and looks to be rejuvenated under Van Gaal (who looks to be a very solid manager in defence). Ramsey and Eriksen both seem to keep on improving from strong performances last season and Eriksen has the pick of the clean sheets. Finally, Dzeko looks very likely to continue his great form from the end of last season, especially since Negredo is out for a while and Aguero is often injured and recovering from the World Cup.

      tough. i think evans and ramsay are both going to be good values but taking the two would probably leave you with too much leftover cash than you need. i guess evans and sanchez only because baines' fixtures are rough for the first two months, might be able to swoop him up later at a better price.

      I wouldn't relish the idea of having to play Bojan every week. I'd take another budget defender in that last slot and upgrade Marney to Siggy. Silva/Hazard to Nasri/Fabregas would be another way to raise the funds, although I'm outrageously high on Silva.

      Bruce & wisdom aren't starters so swap one for Moore.
      Coleman is injured at the mo so it's not 100% he'll be ready gw1, plus his fixtures are tricky till gw8.

      I thnk this is a pretty nice team actually. Good work. I prefer Eriksen to lamela, at least to start with, but I guess it's a risk with a decent chance of paying off. Also, which Davies is that? If b Davies, I'm not convinced he'll be nailed on.

    Also what about Luke shaw?

      HI LADS, I'm new here and loving the in-depth analysis and knowledge on offer. I've made about 50,000 to my team since yesterday and would really appreciate some professional advise! Any obvious flaws in my squad im missing? Whats everyones opinions on Jovetic? I had Costa in instead of Jovetic by taking azpi out and bringing in a couple £4m defenders, is that a better strategy??

          I think that Cahill is pretty sure to be nailed on. Maybe I'm setting myself up for a fall though. I'm definitely not going to go for azpi or Luis. We simply don't have any definite indication about who will play, I agree.
          Maybe a 5 mil stoke def instead of b Davies? Otherwise you could, for example, swap caulker for rio and use the 0.5 to get Debuchy?

      I agree with Siggy over Wisdom week 1. I also don't like the 4.5 striker just because you're stuck if some of your other starters get injured/suspended/dropped. If you could find an extra million somewhere for a Nugent/Bojan, I think it makes the team a lot stronger.

            I'm trimming the defense budget actually i find investing heavily on defense at the start kinda stupid when i free some cash from mids and forwards by jumping on cheap bandwagons i'll push that money into nailed on defs.

      Well, it's different, in an interesting way. Wood? Also, I thought 5.5 is, well, a bit much for Mutch. Sorry for the pun. Oh, and I think Haines and lukaku means you have too much funds ted up in Everton over some tough fixtures with Europa league as well.

    Siggy and Bojan rotation is very attractive. Been too focused on defensive rotations and almost missed this one. And yes I know some of you peeps will be fainting at the prospect of having one of them on the bench but it also gives me a quality sub.
