The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

    Giroud/Rooney/Bojamm

    I think they are the best value but they will be taking points from each i guess?

      I like it, keep an eye on huth, wilson might start. A QPR def to rotate with ward when needed works nice i think too.

    De Gea (Gilks)

    Evans - Chambers - Wisdom (O'Shea - Colocinni

    Silva - Ramsey - Fabregas - Cabella

    Dzeko - Sturridge - Giroud

    Chambers is a punt I know but if he gets a run in team I would regret not having him.
    Picked O'Shea & Colocinni as they are both Captains and should play every week.
    Cabella made the French World.Cup Squad and looks to be a major coup for Newcastle signing him - he could be a differential.

        Welcome!
        Lacking Utd cover for their good early fixtures.
        Would not say Yaya is essential but would definitely be looking to get Mata in.
        McCarthy very defensive so not likely to rack up points. look at Sigurdsson, Snodgrass, Puncheon or Albrighton

      Caulker & Ward best for me and rotate pretty well early. lacking either Chelsea or Utd cover. Chambers may start 1st week but Mertesacker will be brought in & he'd stay on bench

    I'm particularly curious to hear what you think of Pelle and whether he would be good or not.
    Also Coutinho and whether he will get any game time this season, but if he does I feel he would be a great cheap player.
    Finally Eriksen or whether he is overrated. I really wanted YAYA in the team but he seems too expensive, the same with sturridge/rooney
    Any other advice enormously appreciated as well and a huge than you to anyone who does reply...

      Speroni a rotation risk with Hennessey who Pulis seems to rate.
      Pelle decent choice but would depend on who else S'ton get in to supply him!
      Coutinho good choice & rest of side looks pretty good.

        thanks for the advice man... my bench is just a load of the cheapest options you can get like zamora. Do you advise having strong subsitutes or weak substitutes because I am a bit confused on that bit. Cheers for the help anyway.

    First RMT ever, big fan of FFS and would appreciate the help and advice of the community...

    Krul - (Gilks - no starter i know)
    Alan Hutton / Alex Bruce / Chris Baird - (Kyle Bartley / Matt Targett)
    Fábregas / Mata / Ramsey / Hazard / Sterling
    Costa / Rooney - (Jutkiewicz)

    Worries - 4.0 defense but should all start and Baird is playing out of position, still I could regret no Chelsea defense

    No Sánchez, im scared he will smash it..

    No City cover.. all to uncertain over priced...

    Hey all. My first post and RMT, need to beat the smug bosses at work this season!

    I've gone with a fixture based starting team, with plan to change after Wk5:

    De Gea (MyHill)
    Terry / Davies / Kolarov / Van Aanholt / Wisdom
    Fabregas / Mata / Eriksen / Sigurdsson / Huddlestone
    Rooney / Jovetic / Pelle

    I will be waiting to see if Ben Davies is starting and also may switch Jovetic to Dzeko based on starting.
