The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

  Looks familiar (though I've made some changes from a team that once looked almost exactly like that). I have Krul as my 2nd GK, should be good from GW2 on, but I fear for his well being against City. Giroud not a bad pick, but I'm staying away until it's clearer who will benefit from the changes to Arsenal's attack.

Thinking of:

DeGea/Hamer
Terry/Bardsley/N.Taylor/Collocini/Bruce
Mata/Fabregas/Ramsey/Siggy/Henderson
Rooney/Costa/Austin

GK: Play DeGea every week. Hamer has low ownership so less fear of a price drop.
DEF: Terry the 'big hitter'. Stoke/Swansea and Newcastle/Hull rotate perfectly for first 6 weeks. Bruce slightly risky but going to chance him.
MID: First 3 speak for themselves. Siggy at the price is too good to ignore. Henderson is my 'punt'. Two goals in preseason (along with a few towards the end of last season) gives me hope he might be 'Ramsey light' this season.
FOR: Rooney and Costa are obvious picks. Going with Austin as my cheapie, QPR have a decent start and Austin has goals in him.

All opinions/criticisms/upgrades welcome.

  Id maybe consider using transfers for captaincy and have a good front two instead . That way you can beef up your defence a little . Like it other than that but would drop costa and get him in for sturridge ahead of mon kick off . That was you get three good capts plus left with Costa fir the next week.

  Your midfield is a worry. Individually they are good options, but flexibility is important in this game. Down the line you will want a 9.0m midfielder. Ramsey or Mata have the potential to go nuts.

      I was probably a little harsh on your midfield, it has the potential to do well. But I do think a better balance would help you down the line. Ramsey's ownership for one is getting out of control...

  GK: Feel like you could get a decent 9M GK rotation. Mannone/Krul is one to get you going
  DEF: Bruce not a regular starter, neither is Wisdom. van Aanholt & Davies are not exactly the defenders you would want to base your defense around. Maybe use that 1.0M shaved from the GKs to upgrade one of your defenders?
  MID : Not sure about Ireland so can't really say much about him. Not buying the whole Young thing tbh--- He's a midfielder playing in a defender role and won't benefit from clean sheets. Might as well get a 5.5-6M defender if that's the case.
  FWD: All solid picks.

  Spend that £1m on a defensive upgrade. I like the Luis and Vergini picks, if they start, but neither is a sure thing. Otherwise upgrade Bruce, who I don't expect to see much time barring injuries. Don't like the Diouf pick, and I've been going back and forth as to whether selecting any QPR player is brilliant or idiotic.

Thinking with Baines is although the early fixtures are bad, GW1 isn't. I'll take whatever points he can manage against Leicester rather than deal with the selection headache of choosing a Chelsea defender. Next week I'll have a clearer idea of whether I can count on Felipe Luis to start, or whether I have to settle for a £6.5m CB, or choose something else entirely.

    Had Cahill for a while, but like I said, I want to wait at least a week to see how Chelsea's defense shakes out.
    
    I'd say Chambers is nailed at least until Mertesacker is healthy, barring any CB signings.
    
    Fletcher is certainly a punt, but he's been scoring for fun in pre season, and will have even more responsibility if Wickham moves on.

Leaning towards the first I think. Also considering having Vlaar or O'shea for week one before swapping in Ward/Dann.

  I prefer Ward and Rosenior to Dann and Chester from those sides. As far as the front 8 are concerned, Albrighton is injured, so I have to go with the second group. The Austin pick could be shrewd or an abject failure.

    Cheers for the reply mate! Good point on Isgrove ill switch him out for my original pick Marney, do you reckon its worth downgrading PvA to a 4.0 or Jones to a 5.0 to swap Dave for Garehhh Cahill? Also post your team ill give you a RMT. Thanks again!

      I have a United defender and think they'll do well despite popular opinion on here so I am going to say hold on to Jones. PvA seems highly rated ---Not enough for me to take a punt on though BUT I'm looking at other 4.5M defenders [Vlaar, Rio, Rosenior etc] and now thinking heck like I know which of these is a better pick. Keep him if you got your mind made up about him already.
      
      If you paying that much for a defender [talking Dave here]..you should be fairly confident he is starting. Am sure we'll know/learn more in the coming days so just be on the look out for more info about the Chelsea defense. At least one of Dave or F.Luis SHOULD start IMO.
      
      ---As for my team. Saturday is crunch time. Waiting till late.

  GK : Meh. I was trying to come up with a reason against Howard but other than fixtures being difficult---he's a solid pick. Make than 0.5 a 1.
  DEF: Liverpool's new faces in defense will need some games to gel I feel, Lovren could suffer from the odd 'silly goal that ruins a CS' early on I feel. Personally staying away from Swansea but otherwise like the defense.
  MID: Isn't Albrighton ruled out injured? Also not understanding the whole Hendo love. This season's bandwagon whose wheels are about to fall off. Love the Ramsey pick and the Cesc punt.
  FWD: Got the [expected] big hitters. Solid
