Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Sunday

Sunday serves up a trio of Gameweek encounters, with Thursday’s Europa League ties pushing Hull and Tottenham’s home fixtures alongside Man United’s trip to the Stadium of Light.

Events begin at the KC Stadium and White Hart Lane, with Steve Bruce’s Hull hosting Stoke and Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs facing a London derby clash with QPR. Fantasy managers will be focused mainly on the latter, with Christian Eriksen the top owned asset on show from the early kick-offs.

Attention then turns to the North East, with Louis van Gaal’s United outfit taking on Sunderland in a bid to get their season underway following the opening day defeat to Swansea. With a staggering 48% ownership, Wayne Rooney remains the headline act, while Juan Mata’s 19% ownership will be holding out for returns in order to stem a tide of sales that have already seen the Spanish playmaker drop in price.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ivan over-priced. If I thought he's score every week then of course I'd find the money, but he won't. So I'd go with Cahill, Terry or even Courtois

Come UCL time Ivan may be rotated and will play CB in games. Just depends on the group stage draw difficulty. Utd play Burnley next week I would keep Rooney

So, for the second time in two years, I have deleted my team as I am taking FPL far too seriously and it's taking up far too much of my time

Have a good season everyone 😀

      Bit drastic, but fair enough.

For me it's a much needed release from work and family life 🙂

I have a very similar squad and have problems. The midfield Is untouchable apart from Young. I have Debuchy and feel he offers a lot for his price. I have Caulker and may swap him to Curtis Davies. I have Cahill and want Ivanovic instead. I would change DDG to Krul, Mannone or Foster.

De Gea -> Foster (have Krul) Cameron -> Dummett El Ahmadi -> Larsson or Ward-Prawse?

What do you think? Need to get rid of those who don't get any game time This also means I am keeping Young and Rooney (due to upcoming fixtures)

Looking like solid, if very unspectacular transfers

I just made two free DF trannies, so I'm in much the same boat

Thanks for the suggestions. Mannone should be nailed on for now right? Rodwell is the other option, I figured Larsson might be a good idea as he's on all spot kicks

Mannone is nailed on and can be rotated with Krul (home/away). Larsson's not bad I guess but may end up being rotated eventually.

    WC then?

    Begovic (Myhill)
    Debuchy Caulker Cahill (Bruce/Bartley)
    Siggy Eriksen Sterling Ramsey (Marney)
    Rooney Costa Jovetic

    38 Points this week.
I want to do away with Begovic, Myhill, Caulker, Cahill (want Ivan), Bartley, Bruce, Eriksen, Marney and Jovetic.

Touch and go. You took the risk of two 4.0 who might not play and it's really costing your team.

But your front 8 is decent (Jov aside), so on that basis I'd just do a few DF transfers this week, take a hit if need be

              He's only blanked once 🙂

The worry for him is his gametime. If he doesnt play this Monday then I'd ship him over Erik.

If he plays and even if he blanks I'd consider keeping him for another week

    Sorry to repost, no reply

Here is my team. Just did Bojan to Naismith

    De Gea (Gilks)
    Cahill Clynz Debuchy (Wisdom Bruce)
    Mata Hazard Siggy Ramsey (Elmohamady)
    Costa Rooney Naismith

    1FT / 0.4 in the bank

I would like to bring Aguero in the team for GW3 by doing:

    Debuchy to Coloccini or Taylor
    Costa/Rooney to Aguero

What do you guys think? Is it worth a -4?

I've already bought Dier as I'm happy to build some team value and thankfully all the rest of my DFers are playing DFers so I can cover any rest/rotation.

But I do think that long-term Dier is going to be a risk. Once everybody is fit, and Spurs have completed their transfers I just don't know where he will fit in. Walker will come in at RB, presumably Kaboul(club captain)/new CB will partner Vert at CB. Leaving Dier as decent back-up.

Hope I'm wrong and his decent displays have won him a place in the team, but in the meantime I'll just ride the price-rises and see what happens

If he ends up not playing in a week or three, you are gambling on a 0.2 price rise to gain 0.1. Im considering this too, but its harder to gain the extra 0.1 now with the new price rise regime, so it takes I believew 200% to get the next and then 300/400%? to get the third in a week.

      1. thegaffer82

Yep. It's a gamble I'm willing to take based on the fact that my other DFers are all playing week in week out. If I had some non-playing DFers then I probably wouldve backed out of that transfer.

You're right about the price changes too. Very slow this year.

My hope is that he has earned a spot in the team above Kaboul or Walker

That's fair. I'd have to take a hit because hes 5.1 or transfer out Terry. Really not sure about that.

I just don't see Walker sidelined. One of Spurs' best last year. Kaboul, dunno 🙂

Calling all Spurs fans or whoever have some knowledge about Spurs!

With Walker land Chiriches likely to return from injury sooner than later, and Naughton back from suspension, I'm wondering how the Spurs bacline gonna look going forward. Considering jumping on the Dier bandwagon, but seems to uncertain to me right now?? Spurs looks solid in the back, and I reckon having coverage here needs to be considered ASAP.

    Game 1
    Naughton - Kaboul - Dier - Rose
    [Injuries: Verthongen, Walker, Chiriches]

    Game 2
    Dier - Kaboul - Verthongen - Rose
    [Injuries: Walker, Chiriches. Suspension: Naughton]

    Game 3
Walker (Dier / Naughton) - Kaboul (Dier / Chiriches) - Verthongen - Rose (Davies)

Can someone please answer my query I am confused:

Once a Gameweek starts and I have picked my captain and vice captain for Saturday: On Sunday can I not use a transfer to transfer out my Saturday captain to a new player for Sunday who will become my new captain?

    Thanks

Not in the ;official FPL; game, about which most posters here are commenting about, but you can in the Sky Sports fantasy football game (although that game has captain only (no vice captain).

Thanks, so how does the wildcard work in FPL?

Also, can I change my captain twice in a game week in Sky sports? ie. sat->sun->mon provided I make at least one transfer?

Best place to find the answer is for official FPL game, click the 'help' tab to the right of the headings where you'd normally click 'points' or 'transfers'. For sky Sports it's also tucked away in one of the headings or menus but the answer is 'yes' you couold have up to 3 capains in a gamewwek, using at least 1 change of captain (by entering the 'transfers' page), and one actual 'transfer' of your current captain (can only be done once per day I think before the start of the first of each days games). The trick seems to be making your last captain of the week a player who plays early the next week (ie a Man C player from tomorrows game as they play Saturday, rather than a Liv player who plays next Sunday)

Right. Happy with some of my team but am seriously tempted to use the wildcard tonight,

    Current team

    Mannone Pantilimon
    Moore, Vlaar, Terry, Ward, O'Shea
    Erikson, Ramsey, Lamela, Mata, Siggy
Costa Packet, Rooney, Bojan (Mumbles name sheepishly)

    New line up

    No change between the sticks
    Vlaar, Ivanovic, Wisdom, Rojo Kompany
    Fab, Ramsey, Lamela, Siggy, Sterling,
    Costa Packet, Weinmann, Naismith.

Thinking of playing 1 up front mostly. Currently have 98pts. Have I gone Lady Gaga?
