Any ideas on how i can improve on a good start ? Am currently 14,150 overall but lucky to have kept Jovetic after seriously considering losing him this week.
    Guzan (Bego)
    Hutton Terry Kolorov (Wisdom Moore)
    Mata Ramsey Siggy Sterling (Albrighton)
    Rooney Costa Jovetic
Im not going to touch for gw3 only concern is captain, thinking either Ramsey ( lovely late charge last game on sky) or Kolorov (cs / goal threat)
After the break im liking Liv and Sun fixtures.. thinking of Sturridge and Fletcher/Borini (if signs) for Costa and Jovetic . Would it be silly to fix what aint broke and double up on Liv ?
Also are my 3 cheapie Def under threat of losing starting places ? and does anyone recomend a good GK double up for the 6 weeks after the int break ?

Kolarov captain would be the biggest cojones move ever. Is it weird that I think it's kind of brilliant?

Dunno about your Sunderland striker masterplan, but I think doubling up on Liverpool should work out okay. I think they're going to score a ton of goals this year.

Theres not a lot of stand out captaincy choices, the Sun choice is more of a way of finding funds to upgrade Costa to Sturridge and Sun games look the best for budget Forwards after the break

well, you got him for the cheap price tag and the great fixtures. both are still intact. why waste a transfer unless you want to free up funds for something else? and in that case, hold off until next week and make a double transfer without a hit.

  7. Piggs Boson

I'm shocked Madrid let Di Maria go, he's been their best player in recent seasons. He was man of the match in the Champions League Final, over the likes of Bale and Ronaldo. One of the best players in the world, and was the top assister in La Liga last season.

When you look at the top 3 EPL transfer records, his price doesn't look too bad.

    Di Maria.....59.7m
    Torres.......50m
    Ozil............42.5m

    .
LvG has previously said “At this moment, we have five No9s and four No10s and don’t have wingers to give us attacking width,” This suggests Di Maria will play wide.

He has also said it will take 2-3 months before the players will properly adjust to his system, indicating he is sticking with 352. Therefore, we can assume Di Maria will play as an "attacking" wingback.

Di Maria can defend well, and his pace will allow him to run up and down the wings with ease. I think he's perfect for the "attacking" RWB position. But I think he will be play more advanced than Shaw, maybe in a slanted formation. After all, football is dynamic and formations are flexible and shift throughout the match. We'll just have to wait and see. Exciting addition to the league though 🙂

      Massive coup for the club.

"We cannot play my favored 433 because we do not have quality wide options like Ronaldo or Di Maria." - LVG a little over week ago

      Problem solved.

The man is stubborn and has spent a long time working on the system with the players.

You cannot drop RVP Rooney or Mata.

He is stubborn but he said that back when he saw those three as his best attackers. With Di Maria coming in Mata's no longer in the top 3. And he hasn't been at all happy with our attack so as he has said he will utilize the formation to get the best out of his players. One has to give way. And it won't be Di Maria, Rooney or RVP I assure you.

                11 years, 10 months ago

His formation will be based around the players at the club. Mata will not be dropped. Madness.

He never said the formation is the issue, he said it was the passing after the Sunderland match. He said it will take 2-3 months to get them used to the formation, as usual.

You don't drop a top quality player because they were passing a ball too slow. That is something you work on in training. He's massive on player development.

thats more to do with cleverley and fletcher surely

thats the main problem in the team and core to how the team functions

those 2 central midfielders are there to 1. give protection to the centre halves when needed and 2. feed the attackers infront of them and pick out their runs

both cleverly and fletcher are incapable of that and surely now lvg knows this..

with another top central midfielder the difference to the team as a whole will honestly be huge in defence and attack

No way. Do you really think LVG expects Tom Cleverley and Darren Fletcher to push us forward? That's Mata's chief job in the "trequirtista" role and not only was he not doing that he was barely showing for the ball.

id be astonished if lvg didnt expect one of his central midfielders to push the team forward but the point is cleverley and fletcher cant they just arent capable its that simple.. and neither are they capable of finding mata in the final third and the position he picks up because again they are incapable of doing so..

So then why did Mata keep taking up those positions instead of coming deep to get on the ball and influence the game? Silva does that. Hell, nearly every player of Mata's ilk does that. He's a complete passenger every match and he belongs nowhere near a top club.

Real's transfer policy is ridiculous. By selling di Maria and getting in Kroos and Rodriguez, they've ripped apart the team that won the Champions League last season, just to make a statement about their ability to buy stars and sell replica shirts as a result. He was the perfect player for their formation and their team - his energy and quality meant that he could basically play as both part of the midfield trio with Alonso and Modric, and as a left winger to cover for Ronaldo, as he constantly cuts inside and basically plays as a second striker.

I have to say I'm not sure about people offloading Bojan for Naismith right now.

Sure he didn't start vs Hull but this here shows that that was a tactical decision:

*****Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says new signing Bojan Krkic was put on the bench at Hull for tactical reasons.
The 23-year-old forward joined from Barcelona and played 90 minutes against Aston Villa but was left out on Sunday.
"It was a difficult game, lots of teams go to Hull and struggle to get anything so we thought we needed to be nice and solid in midfield," Hughes explained.
The Spaniard came on in the first half and Hughes said: "He showed glimpses of what he'll give us this year."
Bojan made his debut for Barcelona as a 16-year-old but spent last season on loan at Ajax, scoring four times in 24 appearances for the Dutch club.
He was introduced in the 41st minute of the 1-1 draw at the KC Stadium after an injury to Glenn Whelan.
Although he was brushed aside in the build-up to Nikica Jelavic's goal for Hull, he provided the key cross that led to the equaliser for Ryan Shawcross.
"I was going to make a change in the second half anyway," Hughes added. "We needed to take one of the defensive midfield players off and get Bojan on. It was difficult to find him, we were a little bit out of sorts, but I thought he did okay."*****

I can't see Hughes dropping him again to the bench against City after he was involved in the goal. Also, this lad has quality and a boot which Stoke need. He showed that in an outstanding pre season.

Looking at his fixtures (from G4 onwards) against Naismith, he has the edge.

    Gameweek 3 Man City (A)
    Gameweek 4 Leicester (H)
    Gameweek 5 QPR (A)
    Gameweek 6 Newcastle (H)
    Gameweek 7 Sunderland (A)
    Gameweek 8 Swansea (H)
    Gameweek 9 Southampton (A)
    Gameweek 10 West Ham (H)

    Naismith has:
    Gameweek 3 Chelsea (H)
    Gameweek 4 West Brom (A)
    Gameweek 5 Crystal Palace (H)
    Gameweek 6 Liverpool (A)
    Gameweek 7 Man Utd (A)
    Gameweek 8 Aston Villa (H)
    Gameweek 9 Burnley (A)
    Gameweek 10 Swansea (H)

So Naismith has 3 tough fixtures there then in the next 8. Sure not huge and he does have quality around him, but it would think twice before selling Bojan. Anyway, why would you sell Bojan and get in Naismith for a fixture against Chelsea with THAT back line?

    HERE IS AN IDEA:
See their performances against City and Chelsea, then choose.

    Mata, Ramsey, Fabregas, Siggy, Marney
    Dzeko Costa Rooney

    2 FT, 0.0 in bank

I just did the most knee jerky transfers, because I was scared to lose value.

    Caulker + Davis > Coloccini + Ward-Prowse.

    1. Rivaldo Izback
      • 13 Years
      11 years, 10 months ago

That value stuff really drives people crazy man.. Caulker? Why? he has an "easy' fixture home vs Sun.. And he almost scored 3 times vs Tot.. Is it the right week to ship him out? I'm really not sure mate..

      1. The Sarjeant
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 10 months ago

Well it's too late now anyway. I'm not too bothered about attacking players losing value if I believe they will come good, therefore, their price goes back up.

I can't see Davis doing anything spectacular anytime soon, to increase his price, and I don't wanna bank on a defender scoring a goal. QPR do have a poor defence as well, so it's not as if
I can score many points from clean sheets.

      1. The Sarjeant
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 10 months ago

But I don't want to be banking on a defender scoring a goal. Plus, Coloccini has a juicy home game next and he picked up 3 bonus points at the weekend, if I'm not wrong. I can't see QPR keeping a clean sheet either.

They might keep a CS too... 'Arry will be focused on returning to the basics this week I reckon...

    3. the cromulent one
      • 13 Years
      11 years, 10 months ago

I'm usually as obsessed as anyone with avoiding losing value (I was among the Mata to Fab kneejerkers). But I'm keeping Caulker. As someone else pointed out, there are good options under 5.0 in defence. Losing 0.1 is not worth the -4.

      1. Zep
        • 16 Years
        11 years, 10 months ago

Exactly that's why I'm not bothered about losing the 0.1m since every option I'm considering for the swap in a few weeks is 4.5...

Made the most amateur mistake of transferring Jovetic out on Saturday night to avoid a price drop.

Did Jovetic -> Dzeko and now am regretting it thoroughly. Should I do the reverse for -4?

    Terry - Clyne - Naylor (Bruce,Chambers)
