The Fantasy Football Scout Leagues Round-Up

The current lull in domestic matters affords us time to pause and assess the Scout leagues in a variety of Fantasy games. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League, Sky Sports and the Fantasy iTeam (FiT) Champions League game, there is much for us to analyse:

Fantasy Premier League

Milan Mihajlovic sits atop the Scout League with a total of 462 points after the first seven Gameweeks. Having already played his wildcard, he’s opted for big-hitters Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero up front along with Romelu Lukaku, whilst in midfield, the likes of Angel di Maria, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Raheem Sterling have been crucial to his ascent up the rankings. Intriguingly, Milan – who is second overall – has only one defender priced at 5.0 or over, Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand.

Maciek takes second spot after a Gameweek 7 score of 64 points. He’s tripled up on Chelsea trio Branislav Ivanovic, Cesc Fabregas and Costa and also has the likes of Di Maria, Sterling and Sigurdsson in the centre of the park. Up top, though, he’s opted for Radamel Falcao and Danny Welbeck on his way to 455 points, or 14th overall.

In third position is Stephen Hourie, who has also racked up 455 points so far. His inspired decision to captain Di Maria earned him 70 points in Gameweek 7, whilst the likes of Costa, Sterling, Sigurdsson and Fabregas all chipped in with returns. Intriguingly, he’s opted for Welbeck and Leonardo Ulloa up top, allowing him to acquire big-hitters Ivanovic and Leighton Baines at the back.

Fourth-placed Craig Ellis is a new entry to the Scout League. He also has a number of the usual suspects – Costa, Di Maria, Sigurdsson, Fabregas and Sterling – though placed his faith in a couple of differentials last week, with James Tomkins and Jamie Vardy both helping him up to 24th overall, on 451 points.

Peter Chesley completes the top five on 450 points. After a slight fall last weekend, he’ll be hoping Southampton trio Ryan Bertrand, Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle can take advantage of the upcoming five fixtures and fire him back up the leaderboard.

Thanks to our top five, we have retained our spot at the top of the League of Leagues, as we look to retain our crown once again. To join up, the code is 11856-4526.

Peter Chesley also impresses in our Members league and leads the way, whilst Marc Wilcox is second on 439 points and Charles Garnier third on 438 points.

Ultimate Fantasy Premier League

Joe Connolly is the new leader of the UFPL Scout League. He racked up 94 points last time around and moves onto 570 points for the season, enough to earn him fifth spot in the overall standings. Lee C drops into second on 565 points, or 12th overall, whilst Lee Fricker climbs into third on 564 points, enough to take 16th spot thus far. To join our UFPL league, the code is 524-87.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

Stephen Lambert is the current Scout league leader, after racking up 537 points in the first few Gameweeks. Stephen sits 17th in the overall standings and is just three points ahead of Ashley Rastrick, who is second in our league, and 21st overall, with third placed Jack McKenna sitting on 533 points, earning him 22nd spot in the overall standings so far. The winner of our Sky league, which is also top in the league of leagues, wins £1,000. To join up, the league name is FFScout and the code is 8009000.

Champions League

Our official Champions League game this season is the Fantasy iTeam (FiT) offering – a free, reliable and easy-to-use Fantasy football app. After two rounds of Matchdays, Matt Parsons heads the Scout Legaue with 162 points, though he’s closely followed by Daniel Lord (160 points) and Waleed Cherif on 159 points. There’s an iPad mini on offer to the winner – the league name is Fantasy Football Scout and the pin is 11155.

We’ve set up another league for those brave souls willing to place their faith in the official Champions League game. There’s just three points separating our top three in this competition – rahmanok leads the way on 142 points, closely followed by gkalaf and Pavlle on 141 and 140 points respectively.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Yeah, why not? You only live once. A single Baines goal will make that back for you... though I'm assuming there that all the players out and all the players in are your starters.

It really depends who you're actually moving out of your first 11 to accommodate them.

Example: I have duff and hutton on my bench. Transferring them out for Dawson and Bertie might sound good on its own, but since I already have Clyne and Ivanovic in my 11 it would mean that N Taylor and probably Siggy would need to drop to the bench for me to play both. Are they going to outscore them? That's the real question.

Or if you downgrade your Hazard, can you turn say Balotelli into an Aguero? So add those into the mix.

I guess we need to see the rest of your team, or you're going to get more waffle like mine 🙂

Are we just a minority view point or do the majority of football fans hate international breaks as much as we do?

I don't understand how an organisation even as dunderheaded as FIFA persist with something that everybody hates.

Need a cheap 5th MF replacement for Zaha.

Is George Boyd of Burnley still nailed on? I mean he was subbed off last week & after that they got the equaliser. The return of some players from their treatment room likely to put him on the bench?

He'll likely keep his place. Jones and Marney will return to centre midfield when fit, Arfield will be on one flank and it will be between Kightly and Boyd for the other. Boyd is the incumbent but has been a bit disappointing in the last two games although that looks like it might have been more down to lack of fitness - hopefully he's been working on it during the break.

ive been all over this move like a dodgy rash since the end of the last gameweek but have decided to just make a single transfer this week and reasses next week as i dont fancy losing cesc for chadli with the spaniard away at palace being prefered to the belgian away at citeh

    • The Pros and Cons of selling Fabregas
      President John F. Keninnsie
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 6 months ago

Since it's a popular dilemma at the moment and this place is super dead, I thought I'd share why I got rid of Fabregas this week.

Firstly, I'll outline my transfers. Fabregas, Naylor and Bardsley > Chadli, Baines and Azpi/Mangala. The first two transfers are definitely happening this week. Getting in Azpi/Mangala will either happen this week or next, I'll decide closer to the deadline.

Obviously there are both positives and negatives to these moves...

      Positives:
      - Money. The 3m gained from downgrading Fabregas allows upgrades elsewhere, in my case it allows me to get the 2 big defenders.
      - Chadli. He offers excellent value and is in a rich vein of form. It's important to jump on players like him when they are in these hot patches. After this week, he has a fruitful run of fixtures too, and will continue to rise in price as he sits near the top of the midfield leaderboard.
      - Baines AND Kun. Many people are torn between getting one of these options as it's hard to fit them both in without downgrading a heavy hitter in midfield. Having both is a differential in itself, and I'm covered if one does well and the other doesn't.

      Negatives:
      - Risk. With over 50% ownership, if Fab continues to do well then I'll start a few points behind my rivals each week. However, as he isn't an explosive player I'm fairly sure that the other transfers I will do with the extra money will cancel out this disadvantage.
      - Getting Fab back. I've had him since GW1 (9.0m) and he is now 9.6m which means I sold him for 9.3m. Basically I have 'lost' 0.3m if I choose to get him back. However, the rises from Chadli will help recover some, if not all, of that 'lost' value.

I'll end it with a little conclusion. I will definitely get Fabregas in later in the season, as his consistent returns will be extra important later on. Whether that is on the January wildcard or before, I am willing to go a few weeks (or months!) without the Spaniard who is firmly in the FFS template. I will enjoy the added excitement of having different players to cheer on. If anyone has done the same or similar moves to me, I urge you to show patience as the chances are they won't pay instant dividends this week. As I outlined above, losing Fab is a risky move, but as Jim Rohn once said, "If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary".

I've never had him as I target premium mids with more goal threat like sterling, hazard and Walcott. Chadli got a lot of goal threat as well in the mid price category.

Not having fab had not worked out so far but I am happy to continue with this tactic for now.

Yeah exactly. He doesn't have much goal threat so he's less likely to hurt me which is why I favoured taking him out over a goalscorer like Sterling.

Will you regret your decision if Cesc slots a goal and gets 3 BAPs in the next few Gameweeks, even if Nacer does well too?

thats a great write up of this issue innsie....i'm sooooo undecided on if its a wise move tbh, cesc is an awful lot of cash for no attacking threat but having had him since week 2 (i think) i'm pretty sure he's been one of the reasons my OR has staedily increased due to his consistency.

Aye, I've had him all season and have thoroughly enjoyed his consistent returns. But, with the majority of people being reluctant to break up the template midfield I think this is a great opportunity to jump ship and take the risk.

We all know baines can make a huge difference if he does well theirs no disagrement from me on that front at all mate, he does have that tendency to bring home the 2 pointers as well tho so understandably undecided on the transfer. For me my mini-league rival has chadli but not cesc and has ivan and cant bring in baines without carnage in his midfield so a chadli / baines transfer essentially just swops my differential on my rival from cesc to baines which is a big move in a must win dog fight for top honours in my mini-league.

The other negative is you have redistributed wealth from midfield to defence, making it tricky ro restore the balance, and with one of Walcott/Ramsey or Sanchez looking like an immenent wagon, you will want one

With all due respect 7 assists isn't "no attacking threat" and he's scored a couple of goals in Cup and CL games.

I respect and understand Innsie's decision but i still think he's a great (not essential) fantasy inclusion given the man on the other end of his passes!

QPR at home is also a perfect opportunity for Cesc to play in the double pivot as opposed to CAM as Chelsea don't need 2 defensive minded centre mids playing. I've also noticed Willian/Schurrle have been taking the majority of corners when they're on the pitch.

I'm interested to know why you settled on Fab and not 1 of the other midfielders? For me Sterling is the biggest risk purely because of rotation and game time. Fabregas is nailed on and consistent. Sterling while explosive doesn't look to be guaranteed 90 mins every week

My initial plan (before the last GW) was to downgrade ADM... But he's a keeper for now.

Sterling's explosiveness and Fabregas' minimal goal threat is what did it for me. I also wouldn't have been able to afford all 3 moves if I got rid of Sterling instead.

Interestingly Fab scored 21 points to Sterlings 22 for the first 3 games of the season when Sturridge was fit and playing. Small sample size I know

I'm also considering selling him. But I've already got Chadli, Aguero, Baines and ADM. I don't think I'm sold on Sterling...but I've got just enough cash to do Fab to Hazard. I'm still not sure I want to though...especiallysince I can use the spare cash to go to Barkley when he's back or upgrade Pelle to Benteke when he starts firing. It's a busy fantasy world in my head

Ok gentlmen my thoughts for this week,

      Forster

      Clyne Dummett Moore

      Sterling Siggy Cesc ADM

      Costa Aguero Pelle

      Elliot Duff Wisdom Marney

      2 FT 1.3 in bank

      1. 4.0 def ➡ Hutton
      2. 4.0 def & Cesc ➡ Baines & Chadli

Option 1 allows me to wait for a possible sanchez transfer for cesc or after another weeks analysis / thought befor i bring in chadli & baines.

I think in your situation I'd definitely go with 2. The reason being that you have four 4m defenders and playing 2 of them every week won't be fun. You could play Baines and Clyne every week and choose your 3rd defender based on fixtures - 1 of your 3 4m defenders is bound to have a good fixture every week you'd hope.
