Monitor – Dusan Tadic

Southampton’s displays under Ronald Koeman have been one of the success stories of 2014/15 so far. Few believed the Saints were capable of replicating last term’s eight-placed finish after a handful of their leading lights followed Mauricio Pochettino through the exit door but Koeman’s canny dealings in the transfer market have steered his side into third spot after seven rounds of fixtures.

Whilst Graziano Pelle has hit the ground running as a replacement for Rickie Lambert, fellow new boy Dusan Tadic has yet step out of Adam Lallana’s 2013/14 shadow. The latter served up 178 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game last year, courtesy of nine goals, nine assists and 20 bonus points, whereas Tadic – who arrived on the back of 28 goals and 29 assists in his two seasons with FC Twente – has mustered just a trio of assists so far.

With spot-kick and dead-ball duties in his favour, the Serbian playmaker certainly has the upcoming fixtures to improve. Home showdowns against Sunderland, Stoke and Leicester, allied with trips to Hull and Villa in the next five, look tailor-made for the 7.5-priced, 2%-owned midfielder to finally make an impact before the schedule takes a turn for the worse in Gameweek 13.

With that in mind, we compare Tadic’s displays to Lallana’s from last season and also cast an eye over his displays relative to this term’s main men in the midfield bracket.

    A) Caulker -> Baines
    B) Caulker -> Bertrand
    C) Ulloa -> Cisse
    D) Ulloa -> Welbeck

      A

      Baines will by far outscore Caulker more than Welbeck/Cisse will Ulloa. And you will be right at the start of a (likely bandwagon), rather than 3 weeks behind on Bertrand. In any case Baines > Bertrand both short and long run for points, perhaps not in value if you need the dough otherplaces.

    Is it worth downgrading my 5th mid (never plays 4,4m) to another mid 4.3m to free up .1?
    I have 2FT with 0ITB and no immediate transfer plans?

      Unless that 0.1 is crucial towards a particular transfer then no.

      Yes, if you have no other plans and will loose 1 FT.

      However, I am sure you can find a more valuable move if you look further.

      Actually, I quite like the arrows - but the formatting could be improved.

      I prefer option 2, but not sure its worth a hit.

      How can you afford that team? I have the same except for Ulloa instead of Welbeck and I only have 0.3 in the bank with TV + ITB at 103.9. Most you can have is like 104.7 TV. Are you two defsinve subs 4.0's?

      I'd love to be able to afford Ulloa -> Welback.

      Anyway, Baines (c) is a decent choice, so is ADM. Sterling is playing QPR and I actually think he's going to have good week. Still Costa for me though.

      Risky yes

      Too risky, uncertain
      AV has conceded 2+ and scored 0 last 3. Benteke is back in match, but far from fit.
      But E defence is leaking, and no signs of CS being due. Perhaps Baines penalty shooting will hit a curse (just a gut feeling)

      If you want to shake thing up from the Costa lovers in your ML, then a ballsy shot at Baines could pay off, or hurt your balls. You certainly have a lot of other choices!

    Anyone else got a sneaking suspicion that Costa might be rested this GW?

    Asked this to the DZers last night and got a mixed reply.

    Currently on my WC and have had the tried and tested A) combo from the off. But I'm thinking B) could potentially be more explosive, particularly given PK duties.

    A) Fabregas + Sterling
    B) Hazard + Tadic

    Should I live a little?

    With double Southampton defense I wish for a clean sheet.
    Oh and an aguero hatrick.

    Hi guys,

    Going to try this again as it's probably a bit more relevant in this comments section.

    If the only feasible way to switch Ulloa to Welbeck was to downgrade Tadic to Downing, would you?

    Points projections seem to favour the switch, but I'm pretty sure Tadic will deliver on his stats soon...

      If it's a gut feeling go for it...I would personally just do Tadic to downing... seeing downing is going against burnley this weekend and will probably be back in the hole.

    Two questions lads. Both defensive queries.

    A) Schlupp or Chambers? - From next week onwards
    B) Jagielka or Kaboul - From next week onwards
