The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Who should I start this weekend? Pick One.

    A. Moreno @ Newcastle
    B. Vlaar vs Spurs at home
    C. Wisdom @ Leicester

Yea torn between those two. Just a little weary considering Newcastle are on fire right now but at the same time West Brom gave away some cheap goals against Palace last weekend

Liverpool have a history of doing well up there. I've seen West Brom a few times this year and wouldn't be too confident of them keeping too many CS. I'm leaning on saving my FT and chancing Wisdom for more than 2pts hopefully

Ahhh thanks for the insight. Firm believer that history tends to repeat itself. That being said, history tells us that Chelsea will lose to QPR this weekend. =)

    1FT 3.6ITB

    Forster
    Baines, Clyne, Chambers
    Sanchez, Sterling, Downing, Siggy
    Aguero, Pelle, Welbeck

    A) Siggy - Hazard
    B) Welbeck - Costa

Leaving towards A with the uncertainty around costa and welbecks good fixture

Over here in uk referees getting serious hassle think press have an agenda to radically change officalling structure given how much money surrounds there decisions
becoming acceptable in commentary to suggest an offical is biased-not a good atmosphere-anything we can learn from US?

I feel like this week, even if it's low scoring, will be as exciting if not more than Gw8.
Just in FPL terms, the sheer amount of players coming back from injury this week is abundant.
Too many to count, all waiting to break the template.

These 2 FT's will come in handy

Sold him for Yun cause i need the cash to upgrade Vardy to Sakho next week and had 2 FTs.. my defense was a bit too expensive with Baines Terry Clyne and Caulker.. you own him or planning on gettin him soon?

Ah ok, solid planning. Yun was very free roaming against Villa. Very nice future prospect & seems extremely comfortable on the ball. I like your pick

No I had him 'til last week, finally got rid.
Though stupid in hindsight since the move was Costa + Caulker = Kun + Wisdom (-4)
Cost me 8 points in total.

" 'On Thursday he will hope for good news regarding Touré and Silva. “We will see with the doctor,” he said. “I can’t tell exactly at this moment. David has a problem in his knee. I don’t know how serious it is. Yaya was a little bit tired with his groin so I didn’t want to risk him [any longer].”

Pressed as to why he started Silva four days before Sunday’s encounter, Pellegrini said: “Because there was no reason David cannot play. We played on Saturday, we had four days to recover, David was perfect to play so there were no reasons [not to play him]. Maybe he was not going to play the whole game. My idea was to change him for Samir Nasri. For our team it was important to be involved in four competitions.' "

You have two Southampton players so I'm not sure if you are willing to part with Tadic to pick up Sanchez. Costa's chances of playing this week are higher than the last two weeks so you might want to stay put. Either way, I wouldn't want to be in your position bc you have a great team. Its a good problem to have tho.. =) I'd get either Welbeck or Sanchez not both. And between those two Sanchez over Welbeck any day.

Interesting to sort the forwards by form on the FPL site.

Aguero is top, but no other 10m+ striker in the top 20. Of that 20, only Bony, Pelle, Lukaku and Adebayor are 8m+.

The rest are cheap. Most of them you may not want (Anichibe is in on the basis of 45 minutes and 1 minute) but it shows that the money doesn't have to be in the forwards at the moment.

I have NO Chelsea (QPR) and NO Arsenal (BUR) coverage. 8/

This is my team, I have 1FT and 0.5m in the bank... what would you suggest?

    -------------------- Guzan ---------------------
    ------- Moreno // Baines // Clyne --------
    -- DiMaria // Sterling // Tadic // Siggy --
    ------ Aguero // Pelle // Lukaku ---------

    Elliot // Wisdom // Duff // Marney

Any advice would be greatly appreciated DZ heads. Thanks!

Well first hold your nerve no need to panic
I'd look to shift sterling to oscar giving you also money in bank allowing flexibility-he is in top of form and qpr will play into chelseas hands

Cheers for the advice, I will only be doing max 2transfers anyway.
I read that bit in the Hot Topics about Oscar alright, he is appealing but I was put off by some1s comment about people who brought him in last year being left twidling there thumbs as Hazard racked up the points. Kinda scared me.

Why is Howard dropping in value?
Brought him in last week with Everton' s good fixtures.

He was like the 10th most popular keeper for the week.. way behind DDG even who I sold and who has more transfers in again this week than him.

Way down the list of keepers being brought in.
    Can't understand it.
Everton defence not being fancied at all.

"Ultimately, then, Sterling is clearly suffering from his team-mates’ inability to not only tuck away his chances but create the space which allows him the same quality of goal scoring opportunity."

Absolutely Right Paul!!! this is the best way you could summarize his problem!

If there was someone like Lewandowski or Suarez instead of that loser Balotelli...Sterling would have so many assists and even some goals!

      • 17 Years

And as Liverpool don't have someone like that, the question is it worth keeping him in your team? At the moment I'm figuring a way of doing Sterling to Sanchez, but the only way I can see to do so is Welbeck out.

Now trying to figure out which of the bargain strikers is going to be best.

I have up to 6.0m to spend on a midfielder. Best choices? Preferably with a home game this GW,

Nah, PvA should go out for sure though. Hits at the back are generally frowned upon, unless it's a premium attacking player w/ a good fixture

    Krul
    Alderweireld Baines Chambers (Naylor Lovren)
Fab ADM Hazard (c) Sterling (Siggy)
    Berahino Welbeck Pelle

Did Costa and Zaha to Hazard and Berahino this week with my two FT
    No Costa/KUN/Sanchez.

Would like to diversify around a little bit by going Sanchez. From experience, Sanchez hit two goals last game but it doesn't mean he's going to return huge points again in the next one. Whereas for Hazard, he's due.

Sanchez returned two weeks in a row actually. Three weeks in a row and everyone will own him. I have Sanchez but I'm having nightmares of Hazard this weekend. So much I don't think ill be able to sleep the next two days.

Anyone got any opinions on how to use 1 or 2 of my transfers please, 0 in the bank, and I'm open to a hit.

    Begovic Gilks
    Cahill Tomkins Clyne Chambers Wisdom
    Fabregas Sterling Tadic Sigurdsson Marney
    Welbeck Costa Aguero

I really want Sanchez, but I don't know how to get him. I was going to do Costa > Sakho, but Costa's looking fit, whilst Sakho isn't.

I'm also tempted to drop Sterling, he's just not that effective without Sturridge playing.

I also want Baines and Pelle, but with Southampton's fixtures turning ugly in a few weeks, I might just go without.

That's tough Sarje. You can't really get Baines unless you sell Cahill, who just happens to have one of his best fixtures of the season this week. I guess you could sell Sterlng for Sanchez but that would require downgrading Tadic or a defender... I'm not sure it would be worth it in the end.

        • 12 Years

Yeah, I don't wanna drop Cahill this week. If only Sakho was fit I could bring him in for Welbeck and then do Sterling > Sanchez.
