With Gameweek 12 behind us, we look back at the stats that matter in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game once again. We cast an eye over the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards and bonus point beneficiaries before assessing the Scout team and our plans for Gameweek 13.
Gameweek 12 Man of the Match Awards
Listed below are the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures, achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional 5 points).
Fixture | MoTM |
Newcastle vs Liverpool | Fabricio Coloccini |
Arsenal vs Burnley | Alexis Sanchez |
Chelsea vs QPR | Oscar |
Everton vs Swansea | Seamus Coleman |
Hull vs Southampton | Victor Wanyama |
Leicester vs West Brom | Saido Berahino |
Stoke vs West Ham | Stewart Downing |
Man City vs Man United | Yaya Toure |
Aston Villa vs Tottenham | Nacer Chadli |
Crystal Palace vs Sunderland | Steven Fletcher |
Alexis Sanchez made it three MoTM awards in a row as he moved to the top of the Sky Sport game with 76 points last weekend. A hard-working goal scorer ticks the boxes for Sky in terms of MoTM as highlighted in our pre-season article and the Chilean’s form is irresistible right now – if you’re not on board already, I suggest you snap him up before it’s too late. Stewart Downing also deserves a mention after his haul at the Britannia elevated him to the second highest scoring midfielder in the game behind Cesc Fabregas – with some tasty fixtures on the horizon and costing just 6.2m, he look another great asset moving forward.
Gameweek 12 Bonus Points
Five goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves. Ben Foster bagged the biggest haul of the Gameweek, earning saves bonus and a clean sheet to earn a tidy nine points. Robert Green still leads the way for keepers with ten additional points.
In defence, 16 players grabbed bonus, 11 for tackles and five for passes completed – Filipe Luis came closest to earning both, missing out by just a few completed passes. Centre-backs are currently dominating the bonus points, with four all on ten points.
In midfield, there were 20 beneficiaries in total: 15 for tackling and seven for passes. Midfield enforcers Nemanja Matic and Morgan Schneiderlin were the players to earn both and bonus king Schneiderlin now finds himself way out in front on any other midfielder with 24 extra points.
It’s extremely rare a forward picks up any bonus points but this week Connor Wickham, Bojan Krkic and Ayoze Perez all managed to pick up bonus points – a welcome addition for any of their owners.

Notes
It’s time to try and stop the rot, having slid down the rankings considerably in the last two Gameweeks. Injuries and rotation have somewhat forced my hand and out go Liam Moore, Patrick Van Aanholt, Christian Eriksen and Dusan Tadic for Ryan Bertrand, Andrew Robertson, Rolando Aarons and Alexis Sanchez. A big punt to say the least as Southampton and Hull’s fixtures are ugly but you have to think long term with defence in Sky; hopefully I won’t need to make another transfer in that department all season.
The other massive gamble is on Aarons – to be honest he’s basically an enabler for the red hot Sanchez but I sense he could offer good value at just 3.8m if he’s given the minutes. With Newcastle’s injuries in that department he should get his chance and – providing he recovers from a knock – will hopefully impress enough to take it. Eden Hazard keeps his place ahead of Cesc Fabregas for now, like many I’m still waiting for that ever elusive big haul.
Captain plan
For Saturday my captain is locked into Sergio Aguero, who’s away to QPR and then I’ll swap the armband to my new signing Alexis Sanchez for his clash at the Liberty Stadium the following day.
A reminder that with the international break in Gameweek 14 you can use a free captain swap to set yourself up for Gameweek 15 if need be.
