Granville, what would you class as a strong squad? I can't imagine a team functioning better with subs that are more costly than the likes of Hutton/Boyd.
It would just lead to more problems selecting your team, weaken your strongest Xl and potentially lead to alot more points being benched.I have Downing/Austin as 6th forward player, which I think is a good strategy in a normal universe where Boyd doesn't score in the TWO gameweeks people need him to score
I think that can certainly be the case a lot of the time, but in the busy fixtures in the run up to xmas i think there may be something to be said for having a squad of decent players. So far Boyd owners have been rather fortunate, I wouldn't want to be relying on him to play and get me points.
Those last three points are not coterminous, as you have implied. Price is not a begetter of points. 🙂

That is true, price does not determine a players score however would you realistically bench an expensive player and start the cheap one? I think we are all influenced by this.
You know what I mean when I refer to selection problems. A tasty home fixture for Boyd can give us a selection headache, I imagine a stronger bench would make things even more difficult while restricting your ability to own all of Baines, Hazard, Sanchez, Aguero, Costa....
I know I am not granville!! But personally I have given up trying to get a strong sqaud just get a very strong front 7 and have starting fillers/good value for the rest. No headaches on who to start then.
BOyd may not be a great sub to bring in in general. Got lucky this week but Hutton is a very good 5th defender to have at that price and those solid fixtures til January

Aguero blanked both times after he delivered his two previous double digits. 19 points with Spurs - 2 with West Ham. 13 points with QPR, 2 with Swansea. Now 16 with Sunderland, possible 2 points with Everton? I don't think he'll get more than an assist but then again City broke a statistic last night defeating Sunderland.
