The Scout Picks Community Champion Vote – Gameweek 23

Welcome back to the Scout Picks Community Champion vote following the FA Cup break. Here’s a reminder of how this works. As part of our revamped Scout Picks, Mark, Paul, a community champion picked by you each week and I are up against each other. All four teams are then used to decide our final weekly Scout Picks.

We are now looking for Gameweek 23’s Scout Picks Community Champion to represent you and get one over on The Scouts as well as be in with a chance of winning a special prize. The champion who manages the best Gameweek score (or best score from the first ten matches in a double Gameweek) will win a £100 Amazon voucher.

To put yourself forward simply add in your Gameweek 23 Scout Picks. For everyone else please upvote the poster you would like to represent you based on their picks.

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of budget, which has now been increased to 84.0. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated Fantasy Premier League formation, including no more than three players from one team.

I’ll leave this vote open until 10am tomorrow (Tuesday) when I will announce the winner, who I will then ask to send over his/her final picks plus 200 word explanation to me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk by 5pm Thursday January 29.

Any attempts to disrupt the voting process may lead to the team involved being removed at our discretion. Also the comment section below is for those who want to present their teams and vote. If you have any suggestions on how the Scout Picks can be improved further next year please email me rather than leave a comment below.

Congratulations to Gameweek 22’s champion Brooksyp, who joins the elite bunch of champions to defeat all three Scouts. Full results and overall standings will be revealed in this week’s Scout Picks article.

    Pantilimon (BUR)
Koscielny (AVL) Fonte (SWA) Jones (LEI)
Sanchez (AVL) Cazorla (AVL) Sterling (WHU) Tadic (SWA)
Defoe (BUR) Falcao (LEI) Costa (MCI)

Panti the save king in goal has a very favourable fixture with a high chance of a clean sheet.

The top BPS magnets (http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/01/15/baseline-bonus-point-system-bps-scores-for-defenders/) from the three teams that are most likely to keep a clean sheet IMO.

Double Arsenal mids who are in great from with an attractive fixture. Sterling is finding his mojo after returning from his break in Jamaica. Tadic is in good form himself and has a plethora of set pieces in his locker against a faltering Swansea side down on confidence.

What better fixture to open your account for your new club than Burnley at home? Defoe will be eager to get off the mark against one of the weakest defences in the league. Falcao has a delicious tie against relegation-threatened Leicester - he's bound to score soon, right? Costa is in impressive form himself and no one can really expect a City clean sheet away at Stamford Bridge.

All good aside from Falcao. Would get ADM instead as 5th midfielder. Maybe even Moses or Puncheon for Tadic.

Congrats! Good luck. It'll be interesting to see how Falcao does this week. Everyone is waiting for him to become a viable FPL option. It still hasn't materialised yet but maybe it will at some point.

All players in my team above have favourable home fixtures.

Doubled up in Stoke's defence against a QPR side who have lost all heir away games in the league.

Can see Arsenal and Man Utd picking up big wins so thats why more than half my team is filled with their players.

Sterling, Tadic and Pelle all have a high chance of scoring/assisting this weekend.

    Cortois
    Koscenly Pieters Fonte
    ADM Sanchez Mata Sterling
    Gayle Crouch Giroud

Feel like i mainly opt for the form of the oppossition here.
Theres something wrong with Citys attack, which makes case for them trying to shoot more, which gives cortoise savepoints - city usually also fire mamy shots.

Arsenal inform are likely to keep cs against lowscoring villa, almost went for two in the back.

Fonte havent scored for a while which in my mind makes me think its time soon. They face a swansea side that are losing atm

Pieters also face a abnormally lowscoring qpr atm with austin out of form

Pool are good atm, but the scoring usually come from sterling

Sanchez face aston villa at home...

Di mAria could easily scored 2 goals last pl game. Now i feel he will score. Maybe 2.

Mata is my punt. Many goals are coming at old trafford! (Both ways)

Gayle is also a little punty but cpl are clearly scoring goals now and he is surely a starter, he earned it

Giroud face aston villa at home...also have like 1 goal each 100 minutes this season.

Crouch the tall man face the qpr defence at home. Often, if he scores, he scores 2 or also makes an assist and are up for the bonus.

    Thanks

Ok...hoping this goes better than my recent form as was 5 overall a few weeks ago but now slipped to about 800! £79.8m total and a few differentials in there as well:

    Pantil (BUR)

Jones (LEI), Bertrand (SWA), Kos (AVL)

Sanchez (AVL), Puncheon (EVE), Haz (MCI), ADM (LEI)

Giroud (AVL), Bojan (QPR), Pelle (SWA)

    Ospina (AVL)

Jones (LEI), Bertrand (SWA), Shawcross (if fit otherwise Wollscheid) (QPR)

Sanchez (AVL), Puncheon (EVE), Cazorla (AVL), Sterling (LIV)

Falcao (LEI), Costa (MCI), Berahino (TOT)

    82.2m

Ospina - Made himself 1st choice for Gunners, they look safer with him between the sticks
Jones - United keep picking up those cleanie's against bottom half sides
Bertrand - Swans w/o Siggy and Bony will be toothless, added attacking threat
Shawcross - Renewed steel at stoke and Ryan always likely to pop up at other end
Sanchez - ruthless against bottom half opposition, expect a big score
Cazorla - perfect foil for Sanchez playing off Giroud + pennos
Sterling - West Ham leaky, Liverpool picking up and Sturridge back, time for Sterling to produce
Puncheon - revelation since Pardew took over, Everton very leaky
Costa - High in confidence against shaky City back four at the Bridge...must score
Falcao - keeps getting the chances, due a big return soon
Berahino - slight punt but Spurs never keep a cleanie, Baggie's unbeaten under Pulis, Berahino biggest threat, Spurs one eye on Sheff U next week

    Sanchez(AVL) AdM(LEI) Puncheon(EVE) Sterling(WHU)
    Giroud(AVL) Pelle(SWA) Falcao(LEI)

-QPR are awful away . So Begovic
-Arsenal are playing good plus Villa not scoring much . So Kosc, Sanchez and Giroud
    - United home to Leicester who are struggling. Still was persuaded only due to lack of other options. So AdM and Falcao
    - Eagles at home and in form. So Puncheon
    - Sturridge's return could help Sterling
    - Saints home to Swansea. So Clyne plus I think Pelle might do well
    - Sunderland home to Burnley plus PvA's attacking threat down the left plus playing OOP as wing back

    Clyne(SWA) Kos(AVL) Jones(LEI)
    Hazard(MCI) Di Maria(LEI) Sterling(WHU) Moses(QPR)
    Aguero(che) Austin(stk) Pelle(SWA)

-Panti has the form and the fixture.
-Clyne and Pelle face a troubled swansea side and both should reel in the points.
-Villa have a poor goal scoring record and Kos is a BPS magnet.
-Jones should be able to get a clean sheet against Leicster and Di Maria should finally give some returns.
-Hazard and Aguero have a great chance to be back in the points in an affair that should have a lot of goals.
-Austin will be in the forefront of a QPR attack which will finally look to get some aways points against a stoke side who have not kept a clean sheet against a team in the bottom 10 this season, while Moses is somewhat my differential pick who should run QPR's weak defence ragged.
-Sterling seems rejuvenated since his break and will look to shine against the Hammers.

Bertrand (SWA) Jones (LEI), Wollscheid (QPR)

    82,8

4-4-2 Heavy defence, heavy midfield and spared some cash in the attack.
Triple up on Arsenal and United for the good home fixtures and Hazard because of the home fixture.

I woul love to get to respresent the community. A bit different from what I have seen posted. Don't know if it is a good thing.

    Pantilimon (BUR)
    Bellerin(AVL) Clyne (SWA) Janmaat (HUL)
Sanchez (AVL) Walcott (AVL) Hazard (MCI) ADM (LEI)
Defoe (BUR) Rooney (LEI) Gayle (EVE)

    Total:82.4

Here is an explanation of my picks:

-Panti picks himself. Good CS potential, save points guaranteed and maybe some BAPs thrown in.
-Bellerin is a good budget option in Arsenal's defense against Villa who can't score. He should start since he was rested for the FA cup game.
-Swansea are without Bony (sold) and Siggy (suspended) so it shouldn't be difficult for Soton to shut them out especially at home hence the Clyne pick.
-Utd-Leicester had 8 goals in it last time so I stayed away from Utd defense. I went with Janmaat who plays the dreadful Hull. He also has a good assist potential.
-Sanchez is a no brainer. I took a punt on Walcott but it could work well. I think he will start and he is capable of scoring even from the bench anyway. He will get 60 mins imo which is more than enough for him.
-To Mourinho, this could be the game that wins him the EPL so he will play safe and go for a 1-0 or 2-0 win as we know him. In such a cagey game, I expect a Chelsea penalty converted by Hazard.
-As I mentioned earlier Utd-Leicester had 8 goals in it earlier this season. I don't expect the same but with Utd's home form especially goal scoring-wise, I can see an explosion from ADM against the team he scored 11 pts against the last time they met. I am also backing Rooney to rediscover his incredible home form.
-Palace are in formidable form under Pardew and scoring goals for fun. Priced at 5.0, you cannot ignore Gayle who is in great form as well with 3 goals and1 assist in the last 2 PL games.
-The final pick is Defoe whom I am backing to open his scoring account for Sunderland against Burnley.

I don't think Ospina will play. Go with Panti or McGregor. Clyne is a good shout.

Please take out Mirallas. I hate him for what he did to my prospective Baines points haul. Also - he's not a good punt unless you have a particularly good reason to back him for this fixture (he used to play for Crystal Palace / he was severely injured by a player from Crystal Palace in the past / it's his birthday that day, etc.)?

Strikeforce is ok but Falcao to Rooney or Giroud imo.

    McGregor (NEW)

Mertesacker (AVL), Jones (LEI), Wollscheid (QPR)

Sanchez (AVL), Cazorla (AVL), ADM (LEI), AJ (BUR)

Rooney (LEI), Diego Costa (MCI), Gayle (EVE)

    82,8

One punt - McGregor at home to Newcastle. Hull's home defense has been pretty good recently, having only condeded 2 goals in the past 4 home fixtures. Newcastle haven't found their feet yet and I could easily see a 0-0 here with McGregor possibly getting bonus. Krul would have been a good choice too but I'll go with the home side.

Mertesacker and Fonte- stingy defenses at home should pick up the points. Both have a chance of bonus too and are threats from set-pieces.

Wollscheid at home to QPR. I'm convinced he will score at some point this season purely given his height. Maybe at home to QPR?

Sanchez and Cazorla - form and fixture.

ADM and Rooney - this is a fixture they can explode in. Rooney has a penchant for interspacing blanks with double digit hauls. This could be the one. ADM has just needed match time and a return to his favoured position. This could be the game they get revenge on Leicester (after their 3-5 loss).

AJ - I'm a big fan. He was their only attacking outlet in the past few gameweeks. He might even be on penalties - unless Defoe takes over. One can hope.

DC - I would not play a gameweek without him. He looks essential to me. Still the key striker in a team with the best creative midfielders in the EPL.

Gayle - he's earned it. 3 goals and an assist in the last two as well as penalties and up against an Everton side that rarely keeps a clean sheet (which has frustated me SO MUCH as a Baines owner).

    I hope I can get a vote!
