Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 26

We cast an eye over the new injuries sustained during the weekend’s ten fixtures this evening. Problems mount for Palace up front, Newcastle’s concerns continue, whilst United’s misfiring Dutchman is set for ankle scans after Saturday’s loss at Swansea.

Aston Villa
Kieran Richardson was forced off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke due to injury.

Crystal Palace
Fraizer Campbell was withdrawn during the Eagles’ home loss to Arsenal after picking up a hamstring problem. Marouane Chamakh failed to feature against his former club due to a similar complaint.

Liverpool
Mamadou Sakho missed today’s clash with Southampton due to a hip problem, the Reds’ official twitter feed has confirmed.

Man United
The Red Devils are sweating over the fitness of Robin van Persie after the Dutchman left the Liberty Stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea. United are expected to know results of scans on the Dutchman by some point tomorrow.

Newcastle
Daryl Janmaat limped off with a groin problem during the Magpies’ 5-0 hammering at the Etihad on Saturday evening. Manager John Carver confirmed:

“He has got a tight groin. I don’t think he’s too serious at the moment, but it is tight and we took him off as a precaution.”

QPR
Niko Krancjar limped out of the R’s narrow loss at Hull on Saturday and was replaced by Armand Traore on 78 minutes.

Southampton
Steven Davis was replaced at the break during the Saints’ home encounter against Liverpool after picking up a knock.

Sunderland
Billy Jones missed the Black Cats’ goalless draw with West Brom due to injury.

Stoke
Erik Pieters was replaced with five minutes remaining of the weekend win at Villa due to injury.

West Ham
Carlton Cole was forced off due to injury during the Hammers’ draw at Spurs this afternoon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I have the same front line and I'm not going to do it. Austin was a better chance of scoring against Spurs than Arsenal but he could still blank both. And then you're stuck with Austin when Giroud has form and fixtures on his side.

I see plenty of advice about saving FTs this week, but the way I see it, there will be a shed load of squads filled with Chelsea/Spurs/QPR?/ deadwood, so although the fixtures aren't exactly mouth-watering, this week is an opportunity to oust the deadwood (Wisdom, Baird, PVA? etc) at the expense of a hit. A full 'playing'squad could be useful as European fixtures return.

The obvious one would be Southampton. Everyone's focused on PVA/Wisdom as deadweight and complaining that there's nothing much at that price bracket. Why not Terry/Cahill > Bert/Fonte with one FT, and free up so more cash to fix Wisdom/PVA next week.

But I guess you'd want a Chelsea defender long term so maybe keeping is the conservative/logical strategy.

I am considering this but I will immediately want a to get a Terry back so feels like I'll get behind with my transfers by wasting 2 on a short term move.

More than average points bit still dropped down ranks. My team, suggestions please?
    Krul - Pantilimon
    Terry - Clyne - Hutton - Jones - PVA
    Hazard - ADM - Johnson - Walcott - Boyd
    Pelle - Aguero - Berahino

Have 3.1 itb. Was planning to do Walcott to Sterling this week and ADM/Berahino/Pelle for Costa/Eriksen/Kane for DGW.

Just a follow up to previous question and explain my thoughts behind the question...

Everyone with 2 FTs are focused on selling PVA/Wisdom but finding that there's nothing much at that price bracket. Why not Terry/Azpi/Ivan > Bert/Fonte with one FT, and free up some more cash to fix Wisdom/PVA next week with 2 FTs?

Chelsea have to navigate 2 tricky fixtures (West Ham and Southampton) without Matic, who we all know is quite key to their defensive shape.

likewise if I go ahead with this plan. I intend to let one of Wisdom/PVA rot until my next WC. Would happily double up on SOT defenders week in week out anyway. Get Terry back in GW30 even if for a little bit more $. Just some food for thought

Guess it depends on which che defender u got.. Transfer out Zouma/Azpi yes, maybe even Terry (I wouldnt).. Ivan is in such a great form and very attacking so I wouldnt transfer him out.

    3. jai1212
      • 10 Years

I have Terry and even if I would have such defense crises I would not like to sell Terry/Iva/Azpi as first of all, they have a DGW coming and many people who have them from long time would lose a lot of money from them and buying them again would seem foolish

Plenty of time to bring Chelsea assets back for DGW 34 though. Have a feeling JT could drop this week too.

For me points > value at this stage of the season.

I'd lose 0.3 on Terry but Kane has been a big enabler for spare budget. GW30 would be a prime re-entry window for Chelsea defenders, if planned well, would definitely have enough budget to do Wisdom/PVA > Terry/Ivan.

Going to transfer out Terry, in order to raise funds for ADM & Downing to Silva & Eriksen next week.

Terry to Clyne or someone else 6.4 or less?

Other defenders are Fonte, PVA, Hutton, Bellerin.

Yeah - Clyne the better pick over Bertrand I think given the upcoming Chelsea fixture for Bertrand.

The mention of Sakho above as a possible replacement is an interesting one too.

So come on then, how many of us are looking forward to seeing some Boydinho action this week?

No attacking returns because he wasn't forced on us by injury.

He only gets points when you're not expecting it or comes off the bench. Solid 2 points this week unfortunately I think! Fingers crossed though...

        I'm backing him to score.

        All aboard the Boydinho train!

If he doesn't make the sites 'Team of the Year' there is no justice left in the world.

I d rather play with 10 players an save ft then bringing in haidara . Newcastle cud easily concede a goal and he isn't even nailed on for next 5-6 matches ahead would be a waste of ft

PVA owners ... What are your plans?

His next game is Man Utd away. Chances are he scores 1 pt or so anyway.
So if he is dropped and you field a man less and get 0, whats the big deal?

For me, Id say take that gamble as he could be back next week after a rest week.
Then you havent wasted a transfer ahead of a DGW which can be very valuable.

If he is dropped and you carry a transfer, you can still easily sell him on the DGW.
For me, Pelle to Austin would allow PVA to Vertonghen on the DGW.

Or more likely Pelle to Austin, Walcott to Eriksen. Then do PVA to Chelsea defender the week after. Dont plan to use PVA week 28 anyway.
So surely worth the wait and see?

this is my thinking. Dawson is tempting though, as i have no WBA, but think ill save it

Cheap defender for GW 28 (£5.3m)

I'm thinking either Dawson, Yoshida or Gardos?

    What'd you think?
