Sunday moves Gameweek 29 towards its conclusion, serving up three more helpings of top-flight action. League leaders Chelsea entertain Southampton in the lunchtime kick-off, while Everton host Newcastle United and Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspur in the tea-time match-ups.

Sunday’s early encounter finds Chelsea attempting to recover from Champions League heartache by maintaining their lead at the summit of the Premier League – surely boosted by City’s demise at Burnley. Southampton will look to keep the title race on ice but will drop in at the Bridge having scored just two goals in their last six league outings: without a goal in his last 12, Graziano Pelle is dropped for the first time this term in one of four changes by Ronald Koeman, as Shane Long replaces the misfiring Italian.

Diego Costa’s 38% ownership will want more from the combative frontman after he came up short in his last two starts, while Eden Hazard enters this encounter with two goals in as many appearances in all competitions.

Everton strive to arrest their descent down the league table when they go head-to-head with Newcastle United at Goodison Park. Having drawn a blank in his last five league starts, Toffees’ record signing Romelu Lukaku needs to rediscover his rhythm against a defence that’s shipped 18 goals in their previous six road ties. The Toon must do without top scorer Papiss Cisse following the Senegal international’s seven-match suspension.

Manchester United can ill-afford to drop points this Gameweek as they duel fellow top-four hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. Wayne Rooney is set to retain his lone striker berth following a goalscoring performance against Arsenal on Monday. Meanwhile, with eight goals in his last six outings, the effervescent Harry Kane will be observed keenly by 48% of all Fantasy Premier League managers, particularly after the failings of the big captain candidates – Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez – in yesterday’s fixtures.

I brought Zouma in on my WC and with Dawson away to MCI, Schlupp away to TOT and Yun...well, yeah..I feel like I cant afford to keep him.

Thinking of Collins for West Ham, seeing Tompkins is out with no timetable. Anyone know more about Tompkins and when he may return? Or another 4.6 or less DEF to suggest?

Hope he goes to Arsenal, it's just oo frustrating watching Arsenal play lovely football and then collapse due to relying on Cazorla for half of their defensive effort.

Kroos and Modric means hee'd be on the bench all the time.

Not ideal for him at this stage of his career.

              • 15 Years
              10 years, 8 months ago

The whole reason we've dropped in the league recently is Modric getting injured and Kroos being overplayed (playing more football now than he's ever done in his life due to how reliant our midfield is).

We have Illara, Khedira and Lucas Silva as backup for CDM, but none have any real authority on the pitch yet and can all be easily overrun.

I'd swap Khedira + 10m for Schneiderlin any day!

Jose is hilarious! During a post match interview, he asked the interviewer his opinion on the matic peno. Commentator said, "penalty." Commentator then asked Jose his view, and Jose says "no comment." Jose persists in not answering. The commentator even says, "you can't switch jobs." Jose says, "I was just asking for your opinion." I've never seen an exchange like that. So funny.

Fair enough. You've prolly had to live with him for more years than I have. I've only gotten heavily into euro football over the last 5+ Years. I've never seen an interview like that in my decades of USA sports fandom. More of a novelty for me.

I used to find his interviews entertaining back in his first spell at Chelsea & a few before then when he was at Porto but there's too much history now and as I say I find it tiresome as he clearly has no morals and makes such massive contradictions on statements that are fuelled by the medias love of a Jose soundbite.

Reporter: "Is Arsenal's momentum more of a threat than Man City?"

Mourinho: "What momentum - 3-1 against Monaco?"

I think Mou is a bit touchy about the whole Champions League by the sounds of it.

      Dunno why.

This is a great opportunity for us. City lost. Chelsea drew. We beat Spurs and the title is pretty much ours. 😎

    It'll be my 21st.

I think the M would be unnecessary. There's only 1 Utd.

If United win the title, or even finish 3rd I will never watch a PL match next season without throwing up.

Tempted by a Sanchez & PVA to Ivan and Chadli.

Feel Chadli is going to be the top midfield scorer over the next 3.

Am now very much regretting my Giroud > Austin (-4) dgw punt - question is do I engineer a reversal, taking a it in the process, or keep Austin at home to Everton?
