Most Fantasy Football managers should be keeping a watchful eye on Gameweek 34, when Chelsea and Leicester definitely have two games and many others involved in the FA Cup may also have a double Gameweek.
With the next two articles, I hope to bring the community’s attention to players that we might have all collectively ignored as more than often we fall into the trap of wanting the same players as those in the top 1,000 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.
Specifically with this first article, I’ll look at those among Chelsea and Leicester’s ranks as well as those who possibly have two games that week – Arsenal, Aston Villa, Hull, Liverpool, QPR and Sunderland. This article only highlights players with low ownership among the top 1,000 FPL managers, whilst the subsequent article will focus on the performances of these players in more detail.
The Data
In the table above, we have the players from teams that could or will be taking part in the upcoming double Gameweek whose ownership are equal or under 2% among the top 1000 FPL managers*. The rationale behind this is is to limit the search to uncover that ever-elusive differential who should theoretically help you shoot up the rankings, should they come good. At the risk of generalizing my behavior, I suspect other FPL managers are finding that they are less risk adverse as Gameweek 38 draws closer. I for one find myself strangely drawn to Charles N’Zogbia, who unsurprisingly sits on just over 0% ownership.
By Gameweek 33 I expect the ownership of players such as Daniel Sturridge, Diego Costa and Cesc Fàbregas to increase significantly. Armed with this information, the next article will only include in its analyses the players in the above table whose ownership equals or is below 2% among the top 1,000. The analysis will only look at their performances from Gameweek 29 through to Gameweek 32.
Conclusion
Hopefully, the table in this initial article is useful for those looking to plan ahead and/or managers curious about the ownership of certain players. Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing whatever data and insights I gain during the upcoming Gameweeks.
