Most Fantasy Football managers should be keeping a watchful eye on Gameweek 34, when Chelsea and Leicester definitely have two games and many others involved in the FA Cup may also have a double Gameweek.

With the next two articles, I hope to bring the community’s attention to players that we might have all collectively ignored as more than often we fall into the trap of wanting the same players as those in the top 1,000 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL)  game.

Specifically with this first article, I’ll look at those among Chelsea and Leicester’s ranks as well as those who possibly have two games that week  Arsenal, Aston Villa, Hull, Liverpool, QPR and Sunderland. This article only highlights players with low ownership among the top 1,000 FPL managers, whilst the subsequent article will focus on the performances of these players in more detail.

The Data

doubletable

In the table above, we have the players from teams that could or will be taking part in the upcoming double Gameweek whose ownership are equal or under 2% among the top 1000 FPL managers*. The rationale behind this is is to limit the search to uncover that ever-elusive differential who should theoretically help you shoot up the rankings, should they come good. At the risk of generalizing my behavior, I suspect other FPL managers are finding that they are less risk adverse as Gameweek 38 draws closer. I for one find myself strangely drawn to Charles N’Zogbia, who unsurprisingly sits on just over 0% ownership.

By Gameweek 33 I expect the ownership of players such as Daniel Sturridge, Diego Costa and Cesc Fàbregas to increase significantly. Armed with this information, the next article will only include in its analyses the players in the above table whose ownership equals or is below 2% among the top 1,000. The analysis will only look at their performances from Gameweek 29 through to Gameweek 32.

Conclusion

Hopefully, the table in this initial article is useful for those looking to plan ahead and/or managers curious about the ownership of certain players. Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing whatever data and insights I gain during the upcoming Gameweeks.

Looking forward to part two to put some analysis to these names.

As those few who invested in Townsend and Mason in the last dgwk can testify it can really pay off getting the right differential in place.

I'm probably going to play it safe with Chelsea and have Ivan, Haz and one of Costa or Terry.

For the others though there is lots of choice.

I'm planning on having this as my 11 for GW 34 (providing Arsenal and Liverpool have DGW)

      Pants
      Skrtel Toby*(1 game) Terry
      Hazard Ozil Coutinho Sanchez
      Sturridge Kane*(1 game) Austin

Might bring in a Villa defender and bench Toby?

      Thoughts?

I have come up with what I think is a very strong team with a mix of safe picks and differentials

Sturridge, Benteke, Ramsey have the potential to fire me up the standings but can still play safe with Ivan, Hazard, Giroud

Costa 2% ownership in the top 10k?

    Wow.

And Hull up next.... tempted to take that hit now.

Does anyone know when we'll get confirmation of the DGW's?

Gerrard an interesting one as his tenure wraps up. If they are still seriously challenging for a CL spot, BR will have to fight the urge to weigh sentiment too heavily.

    Courtois
    Skrtel Clark Schlupp
    Ramsey Hendo Mahrez Oscar
    Costa Sturridge Benteke

Could be a very fun team, and quite affordable.

Here's my current team (am ignoring DGWs till they're confirmed).

    Lloris (Krul)
    Koscielny, Clyne, Naughton (O'Shea, Janmaat)
    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Philips (Moses)
    Ideye, Kane, Aguero

Have 2fts and 0.7 in the bank.

    Any ideas?

It seems that in hindsight many managers would have been better off not making the moves they did for the GW 28 doubles - myself included. Does anyone else think we should be reining in our natural tendency to overreact to DGWs and making sure that form remains our primary consideration?

It depends if you think you overreacted or not. I think Lloris in a keeper rotation + Eriksen + Kane was about right for me. If people bought in 3 QPR players too, then that's another story.

I'm worried about Eriksen. I know he has great fixtures, but he's not looking like taking advantage of them. At the moment I'm wishing I had kept Mane.

Just a heads up, Liverpool vs Hull is most likely to be gw37 IF Liverpool get through the FA Cup

I don't think that's true (though it would suit me fine if it was).

There are 3 full weeks between the replay and GW34 midweek. Plenty of time to schedule the game then if they want to. Especially if they have contingency plans in place (which is likely).

GW37 midweek is generally kept as a last resort in case of unforeseen postponements if possible.

Even this list is very useful. I will be referring back to this myself. Looking forward to the additional stats
