The FFS Uefa group has been privileged to organise several team games for the benefit of the FFS community in recent years with a variety of themes, from getting the most from the Transfer Window to international Hockey. After the success of these competitions, we are delighted to return with yet another one. And this time we return with a format based on the gentleman’s game – and introduce the FFS Cricket World Cup 2015.
WHO IS IT FOR?
All posters of the Fantasy Football Scout community. Anyone who plays FPL can join the fun.
CRICKET? AND FPL? HOW DOES THAT WORK?
So. There are 12 teams in total. Each team has 15 players each. Like FPL, there are 11 playing squad members and four on the bench.
A team’s total runs scored in a particular Gameweek is the sum of the individual 11 players FPL scores in that GW.
Then, two teams go head-to-head and the team with the higher runs scored wins the particular clash.
WHEN DOES THE TOURNAMENT RUN?
The tournament runs from GW31 – GW38, according to the real Cricket World Cup format.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS TOURNAMENT?
This game is aimed to bring out the “team” element to the fore, just like how it works in the real world. A team’s success isn’t dependent on one player alone after all.
As much as it’s a team game, leadership is so crucial. Each team will be led by a captain and a vice-captain, guided by a manager.
- The manager is the know-it-all, who will answer any questions you may have during the course of the tournament. He will also have frequent strategic discussions with the captain. The manager is also the link of every team with the organizers. They have been chosen by the organizers for their valuable understanding of the game. The manager also submits his playing XI every week prior to the squad submission deadline.
- The captain is the face of the team. He/she is the one who scouts the players (including vice-captain) for his team. Along with the manager, he/she decides the playing XI every week. Also, in the case of a tie in a particular clash, the captain’s FPL score is the tie-breaker.
- The vice-captain will deputize for the captain in his absence and share his responsibility where apt. Every captain has either already or will be picking their vice-captains.

Over the course of the Gameweek, you will have the chance to view the live scorecards of each team (similar to Scorecast for the HWC). This is brought to you by Pratik. There will also be some features like Twitter feeds and Chatango. More updates on this will follow.
HOW CAN I JOIN A TEAM?
The Scouting period for the teams runs from now until 2nd April. Basically it’s a period when each team will be scouting for players (along with their FPL IDs). The squads will then be announced on 3rd April.
You can also approach a captain, vice-captain or a manager to join the team of your interest. If you check the squad page, most of the teams have linked their Twitter or Email IDs. Places are likely to run off quickly. So if you’d like to express your interest, the time is now!

I have been given the pleasure of announcing that the old Oranje team is ready to go and eager to compete for another title, this time under the great Irish flag. In the absence of famous Irish cricketers with great hairstyles, you'll have seen a few of us lurking with our pints of Guinness, shamrocks, red beards and... jaffa cakes, communicating via some lovely (and some garbled) Irish Gaelic.
(I should make an honourary mention of Numb’s conversion from Cruyff to Leprechaun and we’ll be hoping he finds a pot of FPL gold)
It's a team that mostly needs little introduction, after a great deal of continuity in the line-up from the last competition, but I shall run through it (for those of you that missed Saniul's earlier post) and announce the new members for this time. It's a little odd and perhaps slightly self-indulgent announcing your own appearance but I hope you'll forgive me.
Before I get to that, I would like to thank all those teams so far for their excellent press releases and I hope all of those enthusiastic players who are still without a manager do find one soon. I know there were other great players and contributors who Saniul would have loved to recruit but signing FPL players is a competitive business and things move quickly (as Bangladesh found out yesterday).

A few teams courted us for our signatures but Reedy sold a great Irish team very well. On a personal note, I’d like to thank the teams that expressed an interest (and latterly disappointment) and, contrary to speculation from FFS’s cynical quarters, I wasn’t approached because I ovulate, have breasts or enjoy shopping.
Amongst our ranks, we not only possess the famous luck of the Irish but a few decent performers, a well balanced team of both flair and strategy, female charm, the benefits of a smattering of wildcards and a team ethic that will trump any of the more, shall we say, ‘well-connected’ pro-Establishment teams that have been announced in recent days. A team, after all, is greater than the sum of its parts...
