United and QPR have worries over their first-choice stoppers as we assess the weekendโ€™s new injury concerns for the final time this season. It’s fair to say that, this time round, the injuries have been kept to a minimum.

Aston Villa
Kieran Richardson missed Villaโ€™s 6-1 thrashing at Southampton due to a calf complaint.

Man United
David de Gea was replaced during this afternoonโ€™s draw with Arsenal after sustaining a hip injury.

QPR
Rob Green was forced off with a head knock after colliding with team-mate Joey Barton during the Rโ€™s home win over Newcastle.

Sunderland
Billy Jones was replaced late on in the Black Catsโ€™ goalless draw with Leicester due to a muscle problem.

Swansea
Ki Sung-Yeung missed Swanseaโ€™s home clash with City after undergoing minor knee surgery in time to be fit for the start of next season.

West Ham
James Collins was withdrawn early on against Everton due to a leg problem, the Hammers have confirmed. Kevin Nolan missed out due to a family bereavement.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Wistfully thinking about next year already

    Ivan
    Silva Hazard Sanchez
    Aguero

Would love that to be the spine of my team but think would have to choose 2 out 3 from Silva Hazard and Sanchez

(I know everything will change but escaped to the veranda to escape the nagging mrs so allow me to ponder!)

True.Just would have made my season so much easier if i had got him at the start and played him every week. Wonder if ageing Terry can do another 100% season?

Chelsea's defence could turn into a City type situation. Will have to wait and see. Zouma is there and we don't know if Mou fancies Cahill. Terry might not have the legs for another full season, perhaps will be rotated

Hmmm if i recall correctly, Haz is a slow starter (last 2-3 seasons?). Not sure I have any data to back this up.. Plus with Copa America you might be better off waiting on Aguero, Sanchez.

Ivan is the only one of that lot I'd like to have for sure. Might i suggest Henderson if on penalties, and Rooney if RvP Falcao both leave / out of favor

I think C Smalling is coming into his own at United, as a leader and a defender, and he scores goals. Has real potential to be another one of those lionheart English defenders in the Terry mould

      Definitely want him next year

This season is mental. The Champions League final is on the 6th of June which seems really late. Maybe its not?
Also think England have a friendly on the 7th of June

Sure, why not - if you have your MLs wrapped up and OR milestone achieved. I took a Bolasie punt last year for a -4 and that worked out not at all. This year's cash ML is a lot closer though for me

            mmm

I'll have a max of 5.8 unless I want to take a hit

Cisse is tempting but the Toon have just been so bad, I think they'll stay up just because Hull will lose to United.

            I really like Ulloa...

Ulloa is good shout. I have Vardy, not sure abt double up.
Cisse's last 10mins performance against QPR and number of shots conceded by West Ham in last couple of gameweeks makes him an interesting option.

Maybe I'd feel better justifying it to some extent? (Scouts-picks style)

      - Heavy up top with proven performers until we can sport the Kane/Austin type bargain
      - Walcott in Sanchez absence and fully fit might be a good buy (if at Arsenal or else at Pool)
      - Hendo on penalties, de Jong underpriced after this season and Matt ritchie has a good record, these 2-3 cheap mids lets you afford a heavy front line
      - Pulis goes without saying, Swans might be good defensively especially at home
      - Boro I'm not sure but thought i read on here earlier that we expect a Burnley-esque setup from them in terms of CS potential

I like your picks and justification, especially the last bit. big Karanka playing days fan here.

However keeping the strucutre of the team in check is pretty crucial imo. You may need a biggie in midfield since it's be easier to switch to the likes of Silva, Ramsey if needed. Hence a Haz or Sanchez is almost a must imo.

Not a fan of 3 biggie up front, or Holy Trinity whatever you call it. Values play important factor in FPL success.

The last part Nabil is key. I have taken the most points hits in my mini league and its basically wrapped up. Have about 5.5m more team value than nearest rival.

That equates Boyd into any midfielder in the game aside from Sanchez, Haz or Toure
          or
Hutton into terry with change left overs.

Build that value early and take hits if needed to do so. There are so many transfers in the first month or 2/3. Then many casuals give up.

Absolutely agree : bandwagon jumping works great in the first 10 weeks.. even if it fails 4 out of 5 times there will be that one week where your team explodes and shoots you up the rankings.. especially since the spread between ranks will be very few points

Plus like you said its important to build TV before Jan WC

Yeah. This is the pattern of the game that makes us non-casuals thrive. The flexibility to change to the form players and build value is key, and we know that the high-priced players's movement in price pretty slow.

Absolutely, I'm trying to structure it so that I can afford it (and avoid TorresMagic's 50M dismissal :P)

Maybe I can squeeze in another 9 million mid instead of Mane/De Jong/Ritchie. Any ideas ? Silva might be a pick (especially if Argentina quali for Copa final and Aguero is out for season opener)

Based on this season's performance and Yaya's uncertainties, Silva looks like a must. I won't rule out LIv mids entirely too, the likes of Cout and Hendo could prove good value.

Essentially by mid-season I'm just reluctant to go without the likes of Aguero and Costa if they are fit, these guys can make or break your season within 1-2 gameweeks.

At the start of the season, I'm happy covering them with Silva and Fabregas because I can make up lost ground, so yes I agree with you - what I proposed may not be the most sensible template

In reply to both Moneyface and Shifty just above :

If you go the uber defense + 1 Ivan/Terry route, that will probably leave you with enough cash for 4 or 5 big hitters in mid and forward.

Personally, I'm a fan of the Holy Trinity approach with EPL established strikers, and throwing in one 9M+ mid.

The other option is to go Rooney, Austin/Ings, Cheap 3rd in front and go for Fabregas Silva Ramsey and Henderson( valued at 8 Million?) in mid

keeper combo is expensive. 9m max; aome may even go 4.5 + 4.0

      Nicely set up. That or switch to a friendlier 6.0/6.5 - 5.0 - 4.5 - 4.0 - 4.0

Too expensive. 6.0 as 5th mid? Come on. You may suffer to go without an 11.0-er

Aguero will be 12m I think. Costa 11.5 maybe given his injury record. Can't see either being any less.

the big massive fly in the price ointment could be Bale coming back to the Prem Lg. He'll be 12m, which given Hazard is likely to be 11-12m as well will mean the return of the Uber defence surely.

My Hall of shame ownership this Season:

    AdM---------- 11 starts, 36 points
    Wollscheid--- 7 starts, 16 points
Phil Jones--- 7 starts, 15 points
    Pelle----------- 5 starts, 10 points
    Baird---------- 3 starts, 1 point
    Naughton---- 1 start, -2 points

I hearby declare all of the above now banned from my team next season.

    Enzo the Baker

Continuing with 2015-16 FPL discussions.. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the common theme between everyone's most memorable / worst moments of this season has been striker related (I think there were a couple of hot topics on this) -

Failing to get in Aguero in GW8
    Missing Costa's hattrick in GW4
    Benching Kane against Chelsea

And from last season, I recall bringing in that points machine Suarez Aguero Rooney combination around GW 10-12 really was the one decision that brought a top 1k finish

Maybe there's a lesson here : if these big strikers are fit and playing in their favored position, you've just got to have them in your team, regardless of form and fixtures - even if it's at the cost of settling for only one or two 9M midfielders and rest cheapos

Fantastic ! If you don't mind me offering some unsolicited advice : i think next season if you just adopt a bit of ownership-based 'parking the bus' after christmas you should be good for a top finish.. I'd suggest looking at smartypants work on fpldiscovery for that

Yep I fell for that.. I think (apart from fixtures) it was because the week before Christmas, Yaya played this lovely through ball to Zaba running behind the defense from which he scored.. I thought it was the second coming of Ivanovic and immediately brought him in for the -3 from 3

Having Kane and Austin this year has made the forward spots and strengthening of the Mid so much easier.

      Aguero all the time
      Costa until his injury.
      Bit of Benteke and Giroud.
Think that has basically been my forwards aside from a bit of Naismith at the start.

      Definitely GW 4.

I planned to play 'safe' and get Costa (17) and 'punty' with Pelle (3)
but ended up getting 'punty' Balotelli (2) and 'safe' Naismith (1) on GW 4.

27 points swing in 1 week right there. More if you count the fact that I'd captain Costa and not Balotelli.

Also recently my Silva -> Sterling for a hit move for the DGW.
