I think the thing with Kolarov is that he's one of the few of the more expensive cult players.
By their nature I reckon most cult players are cheaper, as expensive players are usually just too good and lack the character/charm/unexpected success that cheaper options may provide.
It's a reason why I'm not sure you need to make it a budget team, but people may not understand, and just vote for high scoring players, rather than cult ones...
Maybe Kolarov should be the Icon of the team, one who they can all aspire to become, when, due to having had some success, they are priced out of the running for this team next year.

i always thought 3-5-2 has very good wingbacks to protect the back 3, that can run up and down to stop wingers

Quite often wing backs get caught high up the pitch, and/or are occupied by the opposition full backs, imo.
Just look at Arsenal against Gala early in the season, or even Arsenal v Hull. Sanchez should have scored at least a hat-trick! 😀-

It really depends on who you can afford. If it's a straight swap, Gomis seems to be your best bet.
